Dr. Berg talks about how to reduce urination at night.
This problem mostly likely is caused by a blood sugar problem.
Here's what to do:
1. Cut out all sugars.
2. Cut out all snacks
3. Reduce the frequency of eating to 2-3 meals.
4. Add more fat to go longer without eating. Fat does not raise insulin-like sugars and protein.
5. Increase potassium foods - vegetables
6. Increase the B vitamins from nutritional yeast.

He is a real doctor. I admire someone with principles and doesn't work for the insurance companies to push pills down my throat. And dig deep into my pocket.
He ain't lying! Everything he said, I do, and it's a hard pill to swallow. I gotta change my relationship with food and drinks today.
Yeah me too
I gotta stop drinking monsters loaded with sugar and caffeine and tons of junkie called vitamins which aren't even real
It's hard to make this adjustment when you realize it.... you have to eat to live and not live to eat .... and I used to treat eating like an event. No...
Do it! You won't be sorry!
Fast 36 hours, then 18 hours per day. Cured.
How ya doing these days Man?
Thank you for being generous with your knowledge. You took the time to explain what a doctor doesn't have time to do in an appointment.
Facts!
Agreed!! When you see "your doctor" make sure you PUSH for knowledge NOT drugs. My doctor just the other day tried to encourage me that I possibly might need drugs to lower my blood pressure. My blood pressure is fine!!!! You know your body better than any doctor...get on it!!
The doctors have time but they don't spend the time with us.
They only "have time" to give you five minutes (it's only your life). They have mega mortgages, princesses, golf, & malpractice insurance to pay for.
@@KnowTrentTimoy Dont' waste your time they know zero about nutrition and healing. I only use dr's for emergencies. And diagnosis. They can let me know about my liver, or my blood sugar etc. But I'm not taking their pills. Only if I will die in days if I don't. Just don't let your health go to the point you need them to save your life in a hurry.
It’s the nicest guy, calling me out on everything I’m doing wrong. But I appreciate it.
I was going between 5-10 times a night as I get super thirsty at night. Cut out sugar and started IF and now I don't get up at all. Really works! Thank you Dr Berg 😄

Thanks Doc. I'm pre - diabetic and I pee all through the night. Sometimes 20 minutes after the last time. I lose a lot of sleep and I feel fatigued alot. I know sugar is part of the problem but you gave me some extra information on what to do and don't do. Much appreciated.

As usual, Dr. Berg has zeroed in on a good cure and re-balancing solution. I had the classic frequent urination problems, couldn't sleep more than 4 hours. Jumping up to go all day long. I followed this regimen carefully and my symptoms disappeared in three weeks, actually a little less. Thank you good sir; I am so happy now.
a question please....if he says cut out sugar, fruits, oatmeal, bread, juices and such....what do you eat?....is oatmeal , quinua, rice, bread, bananas, fruits in general...bad?

How long u guys stay on keto inorder to remove night urination
muyy1 To answer your question just a day or two of no carbs (fruit carbs)
muyy1 results happen in a day or two. No carbs or sugar!
I don't eat much sugar BUT the culprit for me was grains. I admit, I love them. Sandwiches, rice, corn tortilla chips, etc. I quit all of them and IMMEDIATELY decreased the number of times I peed at night. I was going at least every 2 hours and day or night, whenever I felt the urge to go, it was so intense I didn't know if I could make it to the bathroom in time. Within a week of NO grains the urgency was completely gone and I was sleeping through the night without needing to get up even once. Sleep is so much better now!
When he said “craving cold water/ice water” my jaw dropped.
Lucky me for now, I’m only getting up once a night.
Thx doc

For the last 3 years I have been diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis. I have been on Keto - No sugar and no carbohydrates since August 2019. I have noticed a considerable change in nocturnal urination. I went from 18 times x night to 4-2 x night. I was using so much toilet paper and had to nap during the day. When you get up so many times at night you can't possibly have a good and productive life. As soon as i cut down ALL sugar and ALL carbs, I saw some results. I emptied ALL of my cupboards (non keto items) all at once. The best thing I ever did. God Bless Dr. Berg !

Wow I have been type 2 diabetic for about 12 years an no single doctor has explained this so clearly. Many thanks. Hopefully I can now get more sleep as I pee about 15 times every night. I have cut most of what you mentioned out of my diet including fats. I now realise my body needs the good fats.
How you getting on since then, and adding more good fats ?
Worked for me. Cut WAY back on sugars (about two weeks ago) and couldn't figure out why I was no longer getting up in the middle of the night to pee (as I was still drinking the same amount of fluids). Then I stumbled onto this video. Interesting.
I fixed this problem 10 years ago by avoiding fluoride. Symptoms of fluoride poisoning include polyuria (frequent urination and thirst), constant tiredness, and gum disease (since fluoride is widely consumed in toothpaste). When I quit fluoride toothpaste, these symptoms cleared up in a few days.
Good for you, fluoride is a by product when producing aluminum - we should not be ingesting fluoride in any form and they put it into our city water.
Waw thanks for sharing because I noticed after brushing my teeth with fluoride toothpaste, I always get thirsty and even burning sensation on my tongue!!!
Well that's interesting.
I am a 50something year old RN and I approve this message! I also practice this method of eating: a very late breakfast or lunch and another before 6 PM. Lots of healthy fats, vegetables, nuts, eggs, & lean protein. ❤️
Rebel?
When he says sugar does he mean all carbohydrates?
@@StabDab Yes, carbohydrates turn into sugar.....
@@StabDab He actually meant sugar. As in checking the sugar on the label.
How does that relate to nocturia?
Number #1 -- I stopped sugar six months ago. I have dropped from 250 to 200 pounds.
I drink more water more often during the day.
Number #2 -- I drink more water in the 2-3 hours BEFORE I sleep, probably about 24-32 ounces of water.
This gives my body the water needed to do it nightly tasks of cleaning the body internally.
In the first hour after I awaken I drink 16-24 ounces of water.
Result -- I urinate less frequently at night 1-2 times at most. When I do urinate it is a good amount with no strain.
I sleep much better with one less hour in bed each night because I am so well-rested.
Thank you, someone we can trust, your mission to bring awareness to how to get healthy is helping me and millions, we appreciate you.

My brother is in rehab from a stroke due to not controlling his diabetes. So he is on a " carb controlled diet" so what do they bring him... Pancakes, mash potatoes, rolls.. Then he gets a shot of insulin because his blood sugar spikes. Ugh... I'm starting to send him Dr. Bergs videos. I hope he watches them..
Hope your bro has been paying attention.
Most doctors and hospitals treat the symptoms rather than the disease

Dr. Berg, I'm so grateful to you. Really...
If I eat too close to bedtime, I end up getting thirsty, which leads to drinking water, so of course I wake up having to go to the bathroom. I try not to eat anything after about 6 or 7 pm.
I was peeing 15 times a night. I had terrible sleep and was getting to be in despair. Three months on keto now, and I only got up 5 times last night. Best sleep I've had in years. So happy with my keto diet. Love it.
6 months ago I was waking every 90-120 minutes to do so. In March I discovered keto and IF, started practicing it, and now I am at a point where I sleep through the whole night without having to urinate; I imagine you too are headed in that direction. Enjoy your health.
@@jgregorygraves5792 what type of food do u eat? If u are on keto
Sleep apnea, go do a sleep study.
I dealt with this for years and no longer experience it. Yes, it can be caused by diabetes but for me it was anxiety related. If your frequent urination is anxiety related then it will go away once you reduce your anxiety, reduce your stress (including reducing stimulants) and learn to under react and even embrace the symptom. Before I realised that it was anxiety I actually used to worry that it was being caused by diabetes, which made my anxiety worse. I think it is definitely wise though to cut out sugar as it is not good for diabetes or anxiety. I learned about fasting on one of your videos though a few years back and boy does fasting make a difference to your anxiety. Keep up the good work :)
Hi mate did u have any sleep issues with getting up to pee with the anxiety As I think this could be my problem being having insomnia for over 12 months and peeing 3 to 4 times per night
@@rabbitcivil8382 Yes. I did experience that for quite some time. As my frequent urination was stress and anxiety related my issues with it went away once I learned to manage stress and anxiety.

I had Type 2 diabetes mellitus from 2000 to 2015, took pills for the first 8 years injected for the last 7. At the turn-of -the century, a LOT of food products became genetically modified and were mass produced in labs, thus making it nearly impossible to maintain a healthy diet. I prefer full fat everything, whole organic milk with D3, whole milk plain yogurt, Greek yogurt, all organic, I could eat an entire can of ripe olives, non GMO, my smoothies are whole milk plain yogurt unsweetened if I can get it, 100 gms spinach, 1 or 2 tablespoons organic peanut butter, almond milk unsweetened plain or vanilla extract added, some organic ground flaxseed, collagen powder, organic, plus about a cup and half organic berries, blueberries, strawberries, plus 1 whole organic banana. I may have left something out. I try not to drink a lot of liquids in the evening because I will be up and down at least 3 to sometimes 4, 5, times until I just give up and just get up around 5am!!! I study nutrition for a hobby! 🤣❤ and maybe Zinc and Magnesium, otherwise I am overall pretty healthy, have mobility issues, and something else I do not wish to discuss here in this open dialogue. One other thing which makes you wake up at night to urinate is sleep apnea. There are many people who eat healthy and take care of their fitness and still wake up several times a night to urinate. I had this happen to me to the point where I couldn't function after waking up at least six times a night. Your body tries to signal you when you stop breathing for extended periods of time and in most cases will give you shaking leg syndrome however if this doesn't work it will wake you up to urinate.
