- Elbing is a tier 8 German Destroyer that is available for Global XP currently in the store. Elbing is the most accurate ship in World of Warships and has ludicrous guns, decent torpedoes, and a massive HP pool. While she is a bad destroyer for many reasons, she is a very good ships, and tons of fun! Check out this gameplay to see how she is in game.

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback, good or bad. Like you, I feel like the status quo gameplay and commentary is a little stale. So I'll be experimenting with differemt formats this year and will see if its worth all the extra effort or not lol

Another quality video. I saw someone discussing it so decided to take a peek at it. As usual I came here and sure enough, another outstanding breakdown.
It sounds like wg's description of the elbing as a reconnaissance cruiser is accurate. Its a steep price for a unique ship with semi utilitarian use. It could be fun I just dunno if its 1.4 mil xp or 56k doubloons fun. Especially since you may get uptiered and no sonar, the staple of german dd's.

No kidding, I just got Elbing and bow tanked a Mino I was getting nothing but citadels and he sunk. This ship truly is an amazing ship BUT it's sluggish and has a very high skill gap from other ships. If you know how to utilize its guns, you'll do very well.

Great video Darka. Love the Elbing. She can't counter DDs is not really true - the Soviet DDs with plating are hard countered by this Ship - this ships has the ballistics and the ap to wreak those easy. For everyone else, kite away - the plating on this ship and angling means I shatter or bounce a lot of shells while the enemy eats full pens from my HE or massive ap damage when slightly angled. Just keep some distance as that's key.
Untill you meet a good DD captian lol if they're smart they'll sneak in close, draw overpens, and use their superior DPM to win. The 25mm of armor is nice tho you're right
I’ve been saving up my GXP. I wanted to get the Roma or maybe one of the other 750k ships but I’m glad I waited cause I think I’m just gonna get the Elbing. Watching a lot of PC WOWS content I’ve always wanted to get my hands on it. I’ve got 1.3 million right now so I figured I might as well just keep banking it but then again I could save up for the Stalingrad but I think that one’s just out of reach for me

Darka - video request for battleship lines and their uniqueness. I mostly played DDs, carriers and British light cruisers up until now. Playing battleships nowadays but want to understand how the lines differ. US are accurate but not maneuverable?? French are most maneuverable with the best ap pen?? British have super heals and best he pen?? No idea on soviets or Japanese or Italian. This is what I am gathering but would love a good overview of you can.
Soviets have excellent midrange damage and accuracy but brittle armor and limited damage controls. Main thing about them is at very long range their guns become useless. German have good secondaries, torps and are better at brawling.

Hey Derka, I have a question for you. Will it stay in the shop after the this update cycle ends? I have 1.2 mil free xp right now, and I’m not gonna get the 1.4 by the end of this week, and I really want Elbing. Should I just keep grinding if it will stay in the store? Or should I buy the last 200k free xp before the next update?

I know this is an unrelated question to this video but what’re your opinions of the Pan European TT destroyers?
I quit playing them at T5 😆 if that tells you much. But I do hear Ostergotland is actually quite good. The premium Oland at T6 is also saucy, so they're not bad i guess. But the T5 tech tree one sucks imo. 😕
@@DerkaGames After the gun buffs Vasteras has become quite good imo but then again I never disliked them, the only one I had problems with was the Skane since Oland was just better in every regard, better reload, better hp and torps. I guess that is what you get when you put a t7 and t8 ship from pc on the same tier without much balance changes

Anyway as much as i'd love to get Elbing i'm still thorn between her and Stalinchad, price tag for both is insane too (won't complain about that though)

But but but it's not a DD? It's a mini cruiser without a citadel? For my personal opinion it's a pity it's at tier VIII. I never buy VIIIs as that tier with Legendary has atrocious players.
Honestly with the price tag and meh gameplay at tier 8. Probably would prioritize the Stalingrad over this ship. It's super unique and seems fun but tier 8 😩
I think she's a blast, I was getting annoyed with matchmaking tho. 4 games in a row getting footage for this video where there were very few cruisers. All BBs and DDs
@@DerkaGames cruisers definitely seem to be rarer that higher you go.

I got citadeled in my Yamato today by an elbing. Made me really question the balance of the game when a DD can cit a BB.

I am closing in on the 1.4 mil GXP. Yet I am still wondering, if I want this battle boaty or not. What bothers me most, is the fact that we hardly have any cruisers in the high tier games right now, which makes this ship more or less a hunter without prey. 🥸
You're not wrong, but Elbing still performs fine against BBs. 5-7k shots into the sides of BBs, plus those long range torps reload quickly enuff
@@DerkaGames I hear ya, Derka. But… I also see another problem. Elbing takes up a DD slot in the match maker. But it is horrible at doing DD things. As a DD main, I am not sure, how to think about that…
