- We've heard lots of people say that they would LOVE to live in or visit AMERICAN SAMOA. We've also heard some people say that they could never live here and some wouldn't even want to visit.
So, we looked around and compiled a list of the TOP 10 REASONS WE THINK YOU WILL LOVE or HATE AMERICAN SAMOA.
Just to be clear, we LOVE living here. Is it perfect? No, but for us, the good far outweighs the bad. It is our perfectly imperfect Paradise.
Let us know if you agree. Do you think we missed anything? Or what parts did you relate to?
Thanks again for watching! Make sure to give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed the video and hit subscribe if you haven't already.

You guys are doing such a great job of promoting Samoa with your honesty and enthusiasm. I love how you’ve embraced the culture.
Thank you S Iosefa!
Agree.
Love how respectful you guys are when visiting places. And the effort you put towards making a difference by taking time to pick up garbage. That's been an issue down there that I feel doesn't get enough attention.
Thank you and we agree. ASG has instituted some programs to help with the clean-up, but there needs to be a more fundamental shift to where people stop creating and dumping so much waste.
Agree. They are so genuinely respectful. Love them🤙🙏
Thank-you for picking American Samoa to be y'all's second home! Again, we are so fortunate to have all of y'all as our neighbors here.
You and your family are nice Samoa family you lean everything lay back island style great for your kids I use to leave in Iliili 1981 now I leave in Perth one day I will come back and my family my mother side tofa
We would love to visit Perth one day too. Hopefully your return to the islands will be sooner than later.
I was born and raised in Samoa. From the village of Vatia. I really appreciate everything you 2 do and share about our island of Samoa.
Thank you so much.
Would love to connect with y’all.
Awesome. We love Vatia! Such a special place ❤️
@@AmSamFam Yeahp I know all the walks and spots in that village. My family is the high chief of the village. But we’re farmers there. Money didn’t matters to us.
Really??

The problem with Geckos in your house is they're always trying to sell you insurance..
🤣🤣🤣 It took me a second, but I got it.
I named all of my Geckos "George"
@@markhales7192 Haven't seen you in a while in our neck of the woods in Highland. Hope all is well with you and that you are still rockin' the ie lava lava at church!
For 15min... *mom get the slipper😅
😆😊😊
You guys know more about my homeland than me! Hehehe.....I can honestly say that you are my aiga for knowing American Samoa the way I do - others would agree with me. 🙂
Thank you!
@@AmSamFam 我喜歡你們和你們的孩子們💞💞💞💞☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️🌺🌺🌺
Then go visit sometime s

Because I lived in Samoa, USA, in 1999.
Wow brother you're a real island guy..coz only island guys know how to squeeze coconut milk the natural way 💪..you guys are seki..so glad you're enjoying & appreciated the life in the islands 🌞⛱
Thanks! I (Melinda) like to think of him as my island guy, glad I’m not the only one 😊
Haha I definitely agree with the slow speed limit..there’s a long stretch in tafuna that you can maybe hit 35 if you’re a speed freak 🤣
Haha, I know the exact spot you’re talking about.
Great vid! We are approaching retirement from the military (30 years, yikes!) and considering American Samoa. Hopefully the island will open up soon and we can visit. Alofa atu! 🤗
They have a VA clinic and a small px.
I’m from Northern Ireland but I love American Samoa and love learning more! (I found out about it from the next goal wins documentary I’m a big soccer fan)
Awesome! I’ll have to look that up 🤙
I love how you guys are respectful when going to the beach and asking permission. Then, you pick up trash that was washed up or left behind. I cant believe locals leave trash behind.
Also wondering if you guys have experienced White Sunday? And I think it's in best interest for the island to ban flights during Covid because hospital care is not the best, so I've heard from plenty of relatives. Also, when the influenza outbreak happened years ago, it was brought to the island by Voyagers on boat, which spread like wildfire killing plenty of mothers and children; hence why we celebrate White Sunday or Lotu Tamaiti, in honor of those children that were lost during the epidemic.
I’ve never heard that part of the reason behind White Sunday, what a beautiful way to remember them ❤️ Our kids have participated in White Sunday. This year the celebrations were a little later minute and more subdued because of COVID restrictions at the time, but hopefully we’ll be able to make a video next year. Also, I agree about the flights. The borders need to open again at some point, but we’re still okay here. Best to keep this virus off our shores.
Once the Covid restrictions are lifted and travel is safe again, I plan to go to American Samoa :) Thank you for your honesty - I think the authentic Polynesian experience I will absolutely love even if it's only for a week or so.
Glad to hear it!! Like we said, it’s not for everyone, but there are those who could truly thrive here, even if just for a week. 😃
You guys are so brave I only visit and after a few days I'm ready to go back to Melbourne haha. Alofa atu.
I hated not being able to buy alcohol on Sunday because it’s not sold on Sunday So I purchased my Sunday alcohol on Saturday.
Awesome famZ... you’ve adapted to lsland life.. Samoa are thankful to have your beautiful family..🌸 showing the world.. 👀👀 Samoa is a safe homely country...God bless
Have awesome Xmas famZ 🌺
I went on google earth to look around on different parts of planet earth and I found this American Samoa and went to CZcams to find this place and that’s how I found your video. Cool videos
Good for you for looking outside the box! Glad you found us.
It sounds like Heaven for me. Thank you! Oh, I did send an e-mail to your AmSamFam e-mail, and did not hear back. Is there a better way? Offering to send NC BBQ sauce your way!!
Wow, that’s so awesome of you! Let me check and see if it slipped through the cracks.
LOVE 💕 YOU GUYS. I Was born in American 🇺🇸 Samoa and grew up in Western Samoa 🇼🇸 for 17 years total. I traveled a lot till my 17th. . I lived in the United States. Now I lived here in Waikiki, Hawaii. I missed Samoa 🇼🇸 .I’m glad you lived there and the kids seems they are very happy and attached with the local Polynesian island life.. Back in the days didn’t have much crimes there in the island. Samoan are very friendly and very loving people willing to help anyone who needs help. I haven’t been back for almost 40 years now. Enjoy the Polynesian local life.😍💖💝💞💕☮️🇺🇸🥰
Talofa guys, nice to see you guys again lol, hopefully everythi ng is alright over there,
The first time it snows each year, I tell my wife were moving to American Samoa. We actually both lived in the Samoan islands before we met and got married (I was in American Samoa and she was in (Western) Samoa). The worst thing is the cost of travel to get to Samoa. I don't know if they only have prepaid cell phones, but that was a pain. I have been off island for 13 years and I miss it all the time. It became a part of me and it won't let go. Your videos bring back such great memories.
I believe it! There was one day, during the winter before we moved down here, that I (Melinda) turned to Nate and told him, “This time next year, we will be somewhere warm.” I was finished with the cold. 🥶 This place has a way of getting its hooks in you, that I don’t think ever really goes away. For us, no matter where life takes us, this will always be home 🏝
@@AmSamFam It sure does it to you. When I first got there I always wondered why people kept moving back. Now I know. I miss just wearing flip flops every day and not wearing a suit. There are so many improvements and new stores since I was there. I see on Facebook that we have a lot of mutual friends. (it is a small island).
You guys need to visit Samoa
You guys make me love home a little bit more ❤ lovely family! Much alofa to you guys 💕
Good ❤️ Much alofas to you too.
I'm from Florida. I think I wouldn't mind most of the things you mentioned. Being on an uncrowded beach would be amazing. I'm fine with the humidity and I'm used to geckos. I like year-round summer as long as I have a really good air conditioning in my house and I think I would appreciate the Christian presence. Driving around sounds frustrating but it's not a deal breaker for me.
Sounds to me like you’d fit right in here. Life isn’t perfect, but for those of us who can make it work, it can be a beautiful, tropical paradise ❤️🏝
Very informative, thank you! Now we really can't wait to visit some day! Y'all ROCK and much love!
Thanks!!! As soon as these borders open!
"The mosquito is the national bird here" Lol !!! Very true !!! 🤣 . You guys are amazing !!! Keep the awesome videos coming !!! Love it !!!
Haha, it really feels like that sometimes 😂
Thank you so much AmSamFam for promoting OUR ISLAND.
Give me continuous Summer sunshine all year definitely !!
Oh nice 👍
I'm still waiting for that Mukbang!... But I love your videos
Funny fact about me (Melinda) one of my biggest pet peeves is watching and listening to people eat, so the idea of anyone wanting to watch me eat kind of baffles me 🤷♀️ But I know it’s a thing, so we’ll get around to it soon. 😉
Love the videos and your family's adventures. Brings back memories of living there during my youth and teenage years in Pago Pago and Manu'a. An addition to the wild life in American Samoa, there are some wild boar that you need to be on the look out for in some areas. And in the ocean you obviously have the varieties of sharks and other sea life to be aware of as well. And don't forget about the coconut crabs :-)
Yes, true! We’ve heard of the wild boars but never encountered any ourselves. But we’ve seen plenty of sharks and coconut crabs.
Please try to go back to Ofu Manu’a...love the videos
We’re dying to go back! The first time we went was before we had started YouTubing, but we have lots of video ideas for our return trip.
The last few seconds before end of this video was breathtakingly gorgeous! That view of the moonlight glistening over the calm ocean reminded me of my childhood when we would come to Am.Samoa to visit family. We’d go joy riding in the back of our family’s pickup truck from one side of the island to the other. It was memorable fun especially at night till it started to rain😊💕 Thanks for sharing.
You know we do 30 to 40 mph on the East side.lol
🤣🤣🤫
Whoa u gotta slow down uce lol
Fa'afetai tele lava. You are awesome awesome.
Very nice and informative video. Loved #2. Lack of tourism infra = Authenticity!
Yes!
I love Geckos and i feel safe with them as we have them here in Australia as i know when they are around there is less chance of spiders lol. Huntsman omg they gave them NSW so i am glad to be in QLD. With places you go to no matter where you go you just take them for what they have to offer and just relax and go with the flow. I could visit without a problem as it seems so relaxing. Thank you for the information.
You get it. You can definitely find things to keep you busy here, but it’s much easier to take it slow and relax 🤙
you guys are samoing breed!!! hahahaha.....love you guys & God bless.
Haha, we’d be happy to be adopted 😊
You guys are the Best! ❤️❤️❤️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
No, you are!! 😘
Hubby and I love watching your videos btw. I love how much you advertise for all of the options we have here. ❤
Excellent evaluation and recommendations of American Samoa. Your experiences and knowledge make you great advocates for tourist guides. Ever think of starting up a travel service? Lol, just a thought. Geckos? Love seeing them in and around the house. Natural pest control. As for the “slow down” process, you hit it on the nose. Only two speeds in Samoa...slow and stop. Even here in the states, my sister and other relatives will show up to a function late. Always! My wife says she just fashionably late. I tell her no, she’s on Samoa time. Thanks for the great vid, look forward to more.
Another Great Vid fam. Keep em coming
Love this fam👌🏾❤. Would love to visit Am. Samoa one day.
Yes, hopefully you can someday! Thanks for the love ❤️
Thanks so much guys. Will start finding my way home. I need to see my family.
Good idea! Hopefully soon 🤞
Another awesome video!🤙❤️🙏You guys are just great! Thank you sooo much for these awesome videos❤️🙏
My only advice for you two is that I know you like diving or fishing. I loved it too. But please. Always go diving with someone. Yes it’s a beautiful ocean but very dangerous. I lost a friend while we were swimming. The current is swift and strong. It can hit you from nowhere
Love your take on the beautiful islands of American Samoa! Keep up the great work!
Fa’afetai for the great work you’re doing for our islands. Keep up the good work.
Loved the vid!!! Keep em coming!!!!
Thanks! We will 🤙
So glad you guys are happy there. 9 out of the 10 items are no big deal for me. However, the humidity means I would love to visit you guys but no way would I live there! I like cooler, dryer temps. However, I can hardly wait to come see you.
Haha, yeah the humidity can be a tough one. We can’t wait for you to come visit either ❤️
Agree with the other comments. You guys are beautiful. Great minds and attitudes.
Thank you 💗
I left Am. Samoa because of #10(humidity) and #5(speed limits) lol.jk. love the video!😊👍
Can’t keep your foot of the gas either, huh?
Thanks for this video🤙🏽
God bless your family!
Thank you for sharing these pros and cons about American Samoa. And I really loved your positive outtake about reason #2 (Tourism) when I was growing up there I did think about our tourism programs on how come we don’t have the flashy/fancy type attractions like Bora Bora etc... but your explanation about the raw nature of our island is attractive enough to provide and show how a true Pacific Islander lives. I loved that and thank you for opening my eyes again🤙🏽😊 I really miss home🇦🇸
We’ve never been big on the super touristy places, so this place is the home we never knew we were missing until coming here 😊❤️
You are doing a great job! 💞
Love your videos. Samoa will always be in our hearts. Can't wait for more segments. 🤙🤙
Thanks! It will always be in our hearts too 💗
You guys critique our island in such a good way.
Born and raised in American Samoa but I still will never, ever get used to centipedes!! Planning on coming back home soon and I pray I never come across one. You guys are great and I love watching your videos, sometimes they make me homesick, but we are all so appreciative!!
Not the dogs. 😂❤❤❤Love the honesty.
Very nice! thank you!
I love your channel guys! This was fun. I had no idea what life was like here, and it's fun exploring this through your channel.
Well done!
You guys are doing a great job 💪🏼
Happy Holidays fam❤️❤️ you guys stay safe and keep doing what you’re doing. Alofa tele
Driving 5 miles per an hour sounds funny. Samoa is very interesting. Definitely worth a visit.
Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your stay!
I want a endless summer but I'm stuck here in a four season state of Utah lol ....everything you listed are very true to the point! Cheers.
Sorry 😉 Hopefully you can escape to somewhere warmer soon.
I miss Utah also
❤We love your beautiful family and really appreciate all the amazing informations about American Samoa 🇦🇸 that you and your lovely wife have made available on social media for the world to see about our beautiful island motu o fiafiaga and the heart ❤️ of the Pasefika.👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hit the nail on the head with all points. I like how you guys don’t have any biases when doing your vids. Good job guys
God bless you guys, hope you had a wonderful Christmas
That’s why I escaped from Samoa........humidity 😂 jks
😄
Really enjoyed the video n agreed to most of your poll!!
Good, that means we’re on the right path.
This is the first video of yours that I watched and absolutely love and appreciate that I subscribed before watching the whole thing. I love the content because it's very informative and I can really relate to a lot of the things you talked about as I myself is a native to an island very much like American Samoa based on the information you guys presented in this video. I've always wanted to go to Samoa and all the neighboring islands and after watching this, I told myself I have to go there someday. Thank you guys and much love from a new Micronesian island subscriber in OH. Looking forward for more vids..take care and God Bless.🥰💯❤🤙
Just waiting for the Quarantine to lift.
Looking for a peaceful retirement and possible business opportunities through the enterprise zones.
I like being hot so I completely understand.
Great videos and a lovely family.
You folks have a great outgoing manner. Thanks for taking us on your adventures.
Very cool! As soon as the borders open, we’ll look forward to meeting you in person. 🤙
You two are so wonderful ❤ thank you so so much! Very helpful 🥰🥰🙏🏻
Nice video. Useful information and insights.
Great courage and love of what's new in the world. Love your vids.🙏❤
Looking at snow right now and love it.
Awesome video guys, much alofas guys, and God bless ❤❤❤😎
The Word that stands out to me throughout your post is " Inclusive" or "Inclusivity". The Custom is very much Inclusive, perhaps not in blood, but in environment and neighbor. One looks after another even when one is unaware of it. It is an unspoken bond or understanding almost. Thanks for posting. Alofa atu
That’s a beautiful way to see it ❤️
Lol you had me at " The National Bird for Samoa is the mosquito" that's Facts right there. Keep up the great vids.🤙🤙
You guys seem like pretty Kool Folks.
Thx a Ton for the Post.
God bless AmSam Family❤
Good job picking up trash! Wish more people would do that!
If only everyone just picked up a little, we wouldn’t have the problem.
Cool. Enjoyed the informative videos.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ”
God good , happy for you both,
it’s a blessing to hear you folks congratulations , we’re happy y’all enjoying, please have fun and have a great time, Godbless 🙌🏾💯🙏🏾
I really admired your life in my beautiful first home of Am. Samoa. Thank u for capturing the beauty of Am. Samoa that I haven’t discover yet.
LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE YOU GUYS ARE SO AWESOME! GOD BLESS. XO
So true about the seasons. Everyone says, "oh you'd miss the winter..." No. I never did. But every winter since I lived there, I miss Samoa terribly, and that was, well... a long time ago!
💯 I know we’d be the same!
Great job Fam...love the deep perspective on this cut. I think ya'll just solved one item on your list. Tourism infrastructure. They say necessity is the Mother of all invention. Timing is everything, it's time for ya'll to start your own Tourism agency and get ready for the borders to open up. Just a thought, incase you haven't noticed, "No one else have the raw data" Only ya'll do, You have every perspective needed to make this happen. GL...and thank you for promoting American Samoa. Manuia le aso.
We’ve definitely debated whether or not to start something like that... Thanks for the vote of confidence 🤙
Your family is becoming a real local caring family enjoying what nature is offering Blessings
Lovely video keep them coming Blessings
Thank you! 💗
I love all your videos and each one makes me appreciate and miss home more. We can’t wait to move back soon 🌴 Thank you Am Sam Fam for the cool videos!!!! Faafetai lava!

I was in the Army 15-10yrs ago. Was stationed and lived in Hawaii. Had so many friends from Samoa and Am Samoa. And the are the nicest and most respectful people I’ve ever met. In Hawaii too.
I love you guys’ reviews of our Beautiful American Samoa. Yes it’s all raw Polynesian.
🌺🌺🌺👍👍👍🤎🤎🤎 YESSSSSSS, ISLAND 🏝️ LIFE!!! LOVE YA GUY'S BLESSES!!!
❤️❤️
I love the video. You guys should do one from the other Samoa (west). God bless ."manuia le aso.
As soon as the borders open!
You guys are wonderful!!! Travel and tourism were quite informative and I’m grateful that you have extensively talked about it because it’s true that it’s not a hop and skip with commercial airlines/ferries to get to your next destination but this will force you to experience the unique and beautiful land, culture and our people!! On the hindsight, you’ll be glad that is happened the way it did. Faa’fetai ma manuia le aso!!
Absolutely! The plane and boat rides are all part of the experience. Manuia le aso ❤️
Love watching your content I have never been to American Samoa but it’s definitely on my bucket list for things to do when Borders are open 😌🙏🏽
Awesome!! We’ve absolutely fallen in love with it 🏝❤️
Wow I just watched my first amsamfam video and this is so fun and a beautiful life you have made. I saw my cousin Annie share this on fb and wanted to see for myself what her son and family have been up to.
Awesome!! Thanks for checking out our channel! Annie (Mom) has always been one of our biggest supporters! Hopefully we can meet in person someday Melanie ❤️
