    Just completed a successful first-time gas cooktop replacement. I was a little tentative doing it myself as it involved making gas connections, but I survived thanks to your video.

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I was going to hire a handyman to remove the old gas cooktop, but with your help I got it out in about 10 minutes.

    Galvanized fitting are not bad, I am in the gas industry. Black pipe is better used indoors. If code allows , galvanized pipe for gas is better outdoors as it holds up to moisture and resists corrosion.

    I'm about to start the same type of remodel, but I'm replacing a free-standing electric range with a gas cooktop and an electric oven, new granite countertops, using existing cabinets as possible.

    FYI a lot of times changing just a few parts in your oven can save it I change the processor on a GE profile and one element for less than $199 I know that’s a big deal because the double oven cost almost 750 when I bought it

    Hi! Great video! I can't find the oven reinstall that you eluded to in this video. This is the exact configuration we are transitioning to and need some guidance. Thank you.

    Did you ever upload the video about the oven replacement/installation? I'm looking for it but I can't find it. I really liked the way you did the cooktop replacement giving all the tips and details.

    Directions on mine say not to reuse some components; be careful what you do reuse.

    Random question. I've noticed my built-in cooktop isn't level causing oil to pool on the edge of pans. Is there anything I can do to level?

    • @rbr266h
      @rbr266h  Před 6 lety

      You can try and shim it with sheet metal, or thicker gauge steel, depending on how out of level it is.
      Measure what it would take to level out the cooktop, go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some steel, cut it to fit under the lip of your cooktop - caulk the gap between the cooktop and counter.

    What's difference between the 2 pipe thread sealants that you used ?

  • @neumannfamilylightshow5380

    About how long did it take you to remove the old one and to install the new one?

    You went from 4 to a 5 burner, so is each burner smaller?

    • @rbr266h
      @rbr266h  Před 8 lety

      +Delphenia Celestin they are actually the same size as the old unit - its a different configuration,
      so they manage to fit it into a 30" space

    Does the regulator need to be attached after an elbow, or can it be installed straight onto the stovetop?
    I noticed you replaced your regulator. Is this required or will the old one work as well?

    • @rbr266h
      @rbr266h  Před 6 lety

      It can be installed straight. Old regulator should work as well, but I figured the new one would serve me better.

    • @wesleym.3588
      @wesleym.3588 Před 6 lety

      It depends on configuration needs, I would use an elbow if you have a drawer or oven underneath, if space is not an issue , the regulator going straight into the cooktop is perfect acceptable.

    A budget remodel would call for just buying a range instead of buying a cooktop and separate oven. I mean, just a cooktop alone is probably more expensive already than a decent range.

    • @dreamc7373
      @dreamc7373 Před 6 lety

      Roberto Bayoneto unless you like the separation- you like this oven part but don’t like the cooktop. So you buy exactly what you want. BUT I have to admit there are tons of stuff nowadays... so who knows his reasoning huh. I have them separated- but not one under the other. I love the oven being high and not having to bend over so much. I recommend splitting and having a higher oven space. Practical if you have room that way for it. But I totally get what you’re saying in his situation because it’s right under it!
