This story is a very white-middle class view of one family. Was permitted to break lease, bought an RV, traveled across the US, had family to stay with for free in NY, and now rented a place in VT. Many ppl are moving out of desperation for a job, a place to live, and basic needs. Not to go live “the life they always dreamed of” with money in their pocket. Please ABC tell the real stories of the people in the US. Thanks!

      That’s true.
      But, damn. California is expensive.
My electricity- 400 a month, every month.
      Internet-220 a month, thanks to data caps(Comcast)
      Mortgage, 1700 a month- 229,000.00 loan with 3.765% rate
      Property taxes, 4,000.00 a year.
Food- 1300.00 a month for family of four.
Auto insurance, homeowner insurance - 3200.00 a year
      Trash- 50.00 a month
      Water- 120.00 a month
      Here in Kentucky?
      Mortgage- 1200.00 a month
      Electric- 117.00 a month-175.00 in summer
Gas- 13.00-80.00 a month in winter
      Food- 750-800 a month
Internet- 60.00 a month, no cap
Insurance- 1100. A year, three cars, plus home
      Trash- 35.00 every three months
      Water 64.00 a month
The people are welcoming, warm hearted, and community matters here. They suck at driving. But, they’re not assholes about it. Weather isn’t California weather, but we get all four seasons, which is really cool. When you live to pay bills, you’re suffocated. Here, we breathe again...

And I mean, 5 degrees, 2 feet of snow cold. They are much better at clearing the roads, so you can still get around, if you can stand to leave your house. The cold literally takes your breath away when you first step out. My son was a baby, and a trip to the store involved a full on snow suit, lol. It’s fun for a week or two, but I much prefer 70 degrees in January, not 7. And it’s dark at 4:30, so little sun, everything’s dead outside. Not a fan.

My experience has taught me that living in the country where the stores close early and the streets are quiet at night, allows you to relax, visit neighbors, feel, breath and actually live. Most important of all - people here do not live under the kind of stress that metropolitan living brings, and this gives us the ability to be kinder to one another, to have time to help where needed and to smile and feel at peace. I thank God every day for leading me here. I pray for our beloved America everyday and never stop believing that we can survive anything when we pull together. DON'T LET GOVERNMENT TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US. AMERICA IS IT'S PEOPLE !!! It's time we all took a deep breath and long look at where we are, then do EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO INSURE THAT OUR CONSTITUTION IS UPHELD TO THE LETTER. Any coastal state always gets discovered by techies who lesve their srea cause its to crowded and costly and over run with homeless people. And a bunch of them will move to a new state set up shop. Theyll bring their companies there or start new ones which will cause home prices to rise an area to get too crowded and eventually become overrun with homelessness at which point they pick up shop do it to somewhere else. It's always coastal towns are taking them over one by one
Eventually all coastal towns are going to go up as people discover them and realize how much nicer they are all wealthy people that feel they can work remote or going to go set up shop there that's what happened in Washington state we used to have affordable houses everywhere even in the city but especially outside now all the houses everywhere astronomically high it's hard for anyone in the working-class do you even dream about affording a house out here even small little to bedroom Ramblers they're no longer called starter homes now they're called cute or like cottage style and they still cost for to 500,000 if you're lucky

Too much road salt now, causes the cars to rot out and brake lines to rupture. At least the heating oil is more reasonable these last two years, but in the future it will go back up in price, there is only so much distillate (25% total, half of this kerosene) in a barrel of oil. The city folk are flocking to this area now, tired of leaving their multi-million dollar apartments to be accosted in the streets of NYC, or being exposed to Covid-19.

Something to keep in mind as you run to safety. Get on the web and research your new proposed destination, look at the COVID infection rise rate, number of infected, number of dead. Divide the number of dead by the number infected to see what the mortality rate is. Some states like Connecticut are very high, meaning if you do get sick for whatever reason you have a better chance to die from it. Look to see what the states leadership is doing, if they are like Texas and Florida and see no need for a mask mandate don't even consider them. Also understand Rural hospitals are ill prepared and will overflow easily in an outbreak. All considered moving is expensive and dying in some strange place because you made the wrong choice sucks, even more when it effects family members close to you. I would consider hunkering down with plenty of canned and frozen foods, soon fast food won't be safe or restaurant take out. Do an inspection masked up, are the servers wearing masks and properly (nostrils out does does matter) then take a quick scan of the kitchen work staff, You might lose your appetite. Hoping you cook is not COVID infectious is like using the rhythm method to not get pregnant! Lots of luck, be smart, be safe, be a survivor and always remember what got us here, a republican cult of lawmakers!
