But yes Gauff is weak on grass indeed and won't be a major threat at Wimbledon. I think Emma and Coco both have very good chances at the Olympics and the US open

Navarro played an incredible match, but Gauff crumbled mentally. Too much asking her box for answers instead of finding them herself. Navarro is so focused and absolutely nothing phases her which is so impressive.
Emma Navarro is one of the most technically sound players I’ve ever seen. Everything is textbook perfect from movement to strokes, not to mention her variety and creativity. She would be the perfect person to model your game around, man or woman.
This was Emma”s match all the way! She really saw the court and used her skills to move Coco and jam her up on the forehand. There are so many talented US women that get scraps of media coverage left over after the praise and adoration of Coco. I’m not blaming Coco for her media attention or easy draws but the rankings are distorted numbers from her US Open win. There are quite a few players that have the total tennis package and the tennis smarts that play better than Coco. Danielle, Madison, Pegula and Emma are playing better on the US side. Swiatek, Sabalenka, Rybakina and Paolini are all better competitors. It will be interesting to see how she continues as these other players are just improving so much every major. Exciting to watch.

Coco was so hyped after 3 easy wins against ... wait ... 2 Qualifiers and a player with ranking 60 ??? Once she faced a real oppontent all wheels came off. Emma played so intelligently by rallying into Coco's forehand and patiently waiting for the unforced error. The last point of the match tells the whole story.

Not enough time for proper grass preparation after clay season and Olympic Games on clay in 3 weeks after Wimbledon. Olympic Games is not for money or ranking points but for some top players it can represent serious value, I would not be surprised if Gauff is seriously thinking about olympic medal as she feels much better on clay than on grass.

Yeah, Chris Evert is too emotional and partisan to commentate Coco's games. Navarro would win a point and Evert would take it as an opportunity to praise Coco's athleticism. Evert only grudgingly started praising Navarro in proportion to her performance at the end of the match, when the outcome was inevitable.
I love Coco but just hitting the ball hard is not enough today, it might have been enough 25 years ago but not anymore when almost all players can hit the ball pretty hard.
She was completely unable to problem solve out there, repeatedly appealing to Brad Gilbert for coaching. Athleticism isn't enough in tennis. Coco hasn't reached her potential yet. I expect she'll win more majors, but I do think her problem solving and mental toughness are areas of potential growth for her.

In the post match analysis of this match on ESPN, neither Chris Evert or Brad Gilbert discussed the obvious problem for Gauff. Which is, "Her forehand is terrible" She does not step into her forehand and apparently her coaches don't belive in teaching herto step into it. I am a very amateurish player, but I can step into my forehand.

Yeah, Chris Evert is too emotional and partisan to commentate Coco's games. Navarro would win a point and Evert would take it as an opportunity to praise Coco's athleticism. Evert only grudgingly started praising Navarro in proportion to her performance at the end of the match, when the outcome was inevitable.
Coco IMO doesn't have the mental acuity to deal with changes. Who's going to be her next coach after she fires Gilbert?
I love Coco but just hitting the ball hard is not enough today, it might have been enough 25 years ago but not anymore when almost all players can hit the ball pretty hard.
She was completely unable to problem solve out there, repeatedly appealing to Brad Gilbert for coaching. Athleticism isn't enough in tennis. Coco hasn't reached her potential yet. I expect she'll win more majors, but I do think her problem solving and mental toughness are areas of potential growth for her.
Do the young generation STUDY past LEGENDS as well as current opponents' skillset? the WTA is not enjoyable with so many one time champions..Coco and Sabalenka SHOULD dominate
She won't win any more they fix so many calls for her still didn't work ( for example her forehand to right side baseline and sideline against blond girl was way out no matter what " blind eye" I mean hawkeye said They slide phony schemata preprepared under projector!! Coco tried hitting through Emma which was futile resulting in unforced errors. Emma is just as athletic as Coco with a broader variety of shotmaking.
Emma is not as strong as Coco, physically. Mentally, Emma has an edge, just a bit tougher-then again Coco is defending US Open…

In the post match analysis of this match on ESPN, neither Chris Evert or Brad Gilbert discussed the obvious problem for Gauff.
Which is, "Her forehand is terrible" She does not step into her forehand and apparently her coaches don't belive in teaching herto step into it. I am a very amateurish player, but I can step into my forehand.
Not so much has changed in Coco Gauf poor performances. Coco watch Danille Colins, Lulu Sun and learn from them.
