  • The electric go kart is looking more and more complete!! In this video we finish all of the wiring it needs to get the motor spinning! It still has a bit more to complete but this is one step closer to the final product. We have never done anything like this before but we are excited to take you along for the journey!
    Thank y’all for watching and be sure to stay tuned for the next step of the build!

    Two things I would suggest. Don't have those black and red wires crossed where they bolt down behind the seat. That's a short trying to find a place to happen. Vibration could cause one of the wires to wear through at some point.
    The other would be to program the controller to limit the speed in reverse to something like 20-25% or so. You don't want to suddenly go careening full speed in reverse if you suddenly hit the throttle pedal to hard. You may have already done that, or its already programmed in and you just didn't say in the video.
    Cool build either way. That thing is going to be a ripper as long as it doesn't kill chains all the time.

    • @lennym1273

      Or aslease solder them...

    • @westie4ageturbo.749
      @westie4ageturbo.749 Před 4 lety +4

      Def need a swaging tool. Using the vice will create a high resistance joint, if not straight away it will happen after a time. A swaging tool is designed so it wont loosen over time.
      If you need to solder will work but corrosion and vibration will be an issue after a while
      Also get a ratchet crimper for the smaller connectors. Using the tool you have WILL create faults after a while.
      Tech 34 years. Learnt the hard way!

    • @JakubKlubkoSmejkal
      @JakubKlubkoSmejkal Před 3 lety

      @@lennym1273 soldering isn't adviced in vehicles. Duo to vibrations. The wire then easily breaks right next the solder.

Im building my own hub motors right now and hydraulic brakes. The motors should be able to push 8000 watts each. I need to get my vesc motor controllers but slowly working on it. I wish there was a forum out there. Who knows i might put one up

    This is a pretty neat project... Might I recommend for if you do a future one though you might wanna go brushless and try a Sabvaton motor controller similar to the ones used on electric bikes... they have an insane amount of configurability and even a mobile app which can be used in conjunction with an optional bluetooth module to be able to eyeball every aspect of the controller's operation as you're running it.
