  • I thought it would be interesting to ask ChatGPT for sound design instructions and see if the instructions are helpful and lead to a usable sound.
ChatGPT has the potential to help beginners create their own sounds from scratch and give overall useful sound design advice when it comes to synthesis.
For this example, I simply asked ChatGPT to give me instructions on how to synthesize a water sound.
Let me know if you found the instructions of ChatGPT useful - do you think the kind of advice and guidelines AI/ ChatGPT produces are helpful?
In this tutorial I'm using the free soft synth Vital, but this can easily be replicated with other synths as well.

That is nuts. I gave it go and got exactly what I asked.

Cool, Bard is also handy, you can just ask it to read the manual of anything with a url and ask it questions about it.

Putting technology to use like this is inspiring. Nice work 😁👍

I like the sound at 2:59 when adjusting the delay time, it’s like some good sounds are made by dragging the button, but can’t be reproduced, these kind of things happens to me quite a lot when using vital.

Yeah, I think with some DAWs and tools you can always record in the background, but in general it makes sense to just hit record when you are playing around. Some sounds are just too random to reproduce. :)

Cool idea. I'll give that a go. Looks like a bit of fun.

Yeah, I'm sure it can also be helpful with more complicated sounds and probably also give more detailed instructions. :)
