- During the summer, the temperature in Yakutia rises from -70 to +35°C. So, every year, during the summer solstice, Yakut people are celebrating “Yhyakh” festival, the rebirth of nature after the long freeze which symbolizes another start to the year. This Yhyakh festival is held in an enormous glade and Yakutian sacred site, not far from Yakutsk. The celebrations blend dancing, concerts, sports and picnicking with time-honored religious rituals. And Traditional music and pop ballads blare from sound stages.

During archaeological excavations on the territory of modern Yakutia, burials were discovered dating back to the 17th century, even before the arrival of the Russians, where not only jewelry made of precious metals by Yakut craftsmen was found, but also beads made of Venetian glass and Chinese silk. etc. And so Koreans have been living in Yakutia since the 18th century; for example, you can often meet a Yakut named Aisen Park, Alexey Moon etc. Many have not only Korean, but also Chinese and Japanese ancestors.

I live in Arizona, where we live indoors for the whole summer because it’s too hot to be outside. When it finally rains and then cools down, it’s like a different energy is in the air. We come alive again. Very special to have those big seasonal changes. 🤗

I really love the sportsmanship during the sports game sections. Like before celebrating, that one wrestler checked if the other guy was okay and helped him to his feet, then celebrated his win. The loser didn't seem mad at all either. Good vibes all around from this festival.
Their hardiness and physical abilities are why Putin is drafting so many of them to fight in his Ukraine war.
It is tragic in so many ways, not just for the stupid war but because these strong young men are needed so the villages can survive the tough winters.

When everyone was moving in circles together, and the people dressed in white cleansing with smoke, and that little baby with his palm spread to the sun... all those moments brought tears to my eyes. I long to participate in group rituals like this.

I can't help but see the vast similarities between Native American clothing and the traditional Yakut clothing.
Every year on Lake Baikal on the island of Olkhon a large shamanic prayer service is held, shamans from all over Siberia and the Far East come there. Sometimes representatives of Native Americans come there.
indeed it does. the theory is that we came to the lands of siberia later than evenki, chukchi, koryaks. they'd been living there for thousands of years. with later discoveries it's proven that yakuts were much taller back then. we werent similar with natives at all before we began to fuse with them both genetically and culturally. evenki share the culture with american natives directly, but we share through evenki

Hello from Sakha(Yakutia). Sorry my English not so good. . I think American native inhabitants are our far brothers, sisters. I have seen Iroquois round dance is very close to our Ohuokai.
And self names are sounds like very Yakutian words, for example: Mohican, Maya, Aztec, Teotihuacan, Sakhaptin, Yokuts, Apache etc.

I'm from Philippines and I didn't even know Yakutia exist until I met an online friend from Sakha republic years ago :3 He would tell me stories about how they live and showed me pictures. Now I can finally get a glimpse of that from your content. Yakutia is in my bucket list since then.
He told me to be careful though.. He said tourists want to test how much they can tolerate yakutia cold but it's dangerous. He mentioned there's this Japanese tourist who got his leg amputated because of frostbite.. And there are still wild wolves in some part 😆

Yes. Very similar. I think it's about primal people migrations.
We are distantly related. The American continent connected with the Eurasian one in the Alaska region, where there were several waves of migration and settlement of ancient people. Therefore, we are very similar. We believe that the Scandinavian, Slavic and Germanic runes originated from our first runes, we also believe that the Sumerians were our distant relatives, as were the indigenous peoples of the Americas

I love how cultures are so different but also so alike. Every culture has it's summer/spring festival, maybe for different reasons but they had it. Every culture has it's competitions in different ways. Loved to see how yours does it. The welcoming of the sun is beautiful to see and also so recognizable because who hasn't stood still and just enjoyed the warmth of the sun for a while.

Not all cultures, mostly just ones in the Northern Hemisphere. This looks so alike because it's heavily influenced by Indo-European culture, from which many if not most of us on the Eurasian continent are descended from or have been influenced by. This festival looks very similar to a lot of old Scandinavian Midsommar traditions.

Also, Turkic and Mongolian culture is heavily influenced by Indo-European culture, as is traditional European culture. The Indo-Europeans were a nomadic steppe people that traveled far and wide so it makes total sense.

Wow, Yakutians are very similar to Mongolians!! There is also an annual event during the summer, where everyone gathers, there is horse racing, wrestling, dancing together in the center, archery, throat singing, and shamanism as well! Even the traditional clothings and jewelry are very similar. I love it!
As far as I know the mongolians and the yakuts are different ethnic group. They are not relatives. The yakuts related to the tatars and the kazakhs but with it's own unique culture because of the climate.
@@malaha84 oh yes I know they’re different ethnic groups. I just find there’s a lot of crossovers or similarities not common in other Asian ethnic groups, i.e. throat singing. With close borders, often times there is a bit of mixing with culture and traditions. Mongolians from south Siberia migrated to Yakutia as well. Overall, it’s fascinating and makes me want to learn more about the differences and similarities in cultures that are not much talked about.
Also looking at their art and crafting, share the same common ancestor, like the native Americans ..

Dry earwax helps you not get ice in your earlobes. Also, notice how most Asian ethnic groups don't have much hair (except those on their head and eyebrows). This is also very helpful in cold weather. If you have a lot of hair on your face and body, those hairs freeze in cold weather making you lose heath even faster. So makes sense that Native Americans and, for example, Mongolians have those same features.

Классный фестиваль. Вот бы поехать. У нас в Иркутской области тоже проводятся Сурхарбан и Алтаргана у бурят. Кстати, многие соревнования такие же как у якутов - перетягивание друг друга через бордюр, таскание камня, еще есть гонки на лошадях, разбивание кости, бурятский лук и еще какие-то игры, их много) А потом также все танцуют ёхор вокруг горы или просто так) Наши традиции похожи. ♥

It´s such a melting pot of different influences.
The original inhabitants of that part of russia (siberia) are East Asian in origin. The Europeans only started going there in the mid-17th century with the expansion of the Russian empire.
The fact that 80% of Russia is in Asia!
Because turkic was nothing like european. Modern day Turkey is mostly Greek mixed genetically.
The Asian race originated from Siberia and then moved downwards. The monolid is actually Siberian in origin.
Eastern Russia has a lot of Mongolian blood in their population.

The Dyggyn games remind me of the Highland games in Scotland and the so-called eleven cities skating tour here at home (in the Netherlands). Although very different in nature, each represents some aspects of local culture and environment.
I am deeply moved and impressed by Yakuts and their beautiful culture. Their sensibility, intelligence, strength and warmth makes me believe that the best of the human race still hasn't died. Long live them and their nation!

wow! this is going to be like one of my biggest discoveries! i literally just learned about yakutia through your contents. i've watched three of aryan and his family's videos first. i am now so interested in your culture as being from the philippines, i've also learned how our ancestors during the pre-colonial era celebrated such gifts from mother nature. i have always felt lost and is trying my best to reconnect with our pre-colonial culture and this one just gave me hope that i can still experience something that is almost the same with mine's but minus the winter season of course. thank you so much for these videos!

In Finland, midsummerday's eve is a big celebration. It includes lighting massive bonfires and staying up most of the night. Many people also go to their summer cabins.
If I ever had a chance to go there I am pretty sure I'll enjoy it.. This is what I call culture..

Wonder what their views are on genocide in Ukraine. The Russian “army”is mostly made up of people from Yakutia and Buryatia.
The sickest tortures, most violent rapes women and children and the most horrific murders of elderly civilians were done by them. So I am experiencing the biggest cognitive dissonance, because they are supposedly Buddhists. Prior to 24 February 2022, I thought that there was no religion that was more peaceful and loving on Earth but the most messed up tortures of POW (e.g. castration, dragging our boys tied to a car) is done by these people.
Maybe this is what growing up is - believing actions, and not sweetly spoken words.

It is very impressive to see this kind of celebration and the people who keep their traditions! I adore all your videos to see a different culture on the different side of the world which is not so affected by politics and government. People who live their life as their ancestors.
Unfortunately in my country the traditions are fading very much. Only little amount of people know what the name of the traditional outfit is for horsemen, shepherds etc and it is very sad.
Yakuts will always will be there in your homeland and I hope your traditions will not fade after decades and centuries.

Wow, seeing Yakutian people show their gratitude to the sun makes me think that I take the sun for granted. I live in the tropical country, Indonesia. We see the sun everyday, 12-13 hours a day. We never know how it feels to live in the darkness without sun for months. Thank you for showing me your beautiful culture. The traditional clothes are gorgeous. I wish I could travel to Yakutia someday 😍😍

This location is way over in Eastern part of Russia. The current war front is a thousand miles over to Western Russia.
It's so far away, and the population is so different, that these 2 places might as well be considered different countries.
Luckily this place seems to be self-sufficient with their resources and food so hopefully they haven't been hit as hard economically.

У тувинцев Новый год весной - Шагаа, по лунному календарю :) А летом праздник животноводов Наадым :) Тож скачки, стрельба из лука, соревнование у какого района лучшая юрта - юрты привозят, хуреш - национальная борьба, концерты, несколько дней празднуем:) Недавно был чемпионат России по вольной борьбе у нас, якуты делали обряд у нас в горах в священных местах, чтобы поддержать своих борцов и задобрить духов земли, было очень интересно :))))
