I find this so fascinating! Here in Nigeria in the street markets many struggle to keep meat from rotting due to the heat from the sun, but in Yakutia it seems keeping meat fresh is not a problem since the atmosphere is one big freezer❄

It’s a gorgeous country, I think so many people are worried about animal curtly but they’re not thinking. Because when it’s your livelihood you take very good care of your animals. I find it so fascinating. As I’m sure you would if you saw how I live.

Humans are so adaptable it is amazing how many climates we can live and thrive in. I think that cold would probably be too much for me but I enjoy experiencing it through your videos. Thank you!
That adaptability is exactly what helped us "take over" the world, which ironically enough, may be our very downfall in the end. Enjoy it while it lasts!
All arctic natives, inuit included, eat raw carnivore diet mostly of raw reindeer and fish. In book "carnivore code", the science of carnivore diet is well explained. Once passed infant mortality stage, these people have incredible longevity, many living above age 100. With high fat calorie food, people can survive well here. Also all animal species brain volume, including human here, are the largest in the world in this cold climate region. High intelligence is needed to survive here for all animal species in such hush environment. Check human brain volume world atlas which is associated with average annual temperature. These people have average brain volume 1500cc.
Some of us can barely adapt to wheat of these days. Coming from ancestry in Himalayas, at least I cannot tolerate grains well.

Not sure I can easily start eat raw food but, I truly respect these folks traditions. These videos are amazing. I enjoy learning more and more about these wonderful people.
I thought that in European, American and all other cuisines that were influenced by European culture, dishes made of raw fish and meat, like tartare and carpaccio, were popular. There is nothing so terrible and dangerous in eating raw (if you are sure of the quality of the products)

Except from June till September that is the "dry season" also known as the Congolese winter i guess because during this period it never rains and the sun isn't out as much. The weather is very gloomy during this period. Strangely I've been living in Congo for the past 4years and Everytime the sun isn't out i feel kinda cold. Lol I Know it doesn't make sense but the temperature is kinda chilly that is the Congolese definition of cold. But I bet that dry season temperature would be like a heatwave for Yakutian people 🌴☀️😅

It is good to see that salamat is also eaten in Yakutia. I am from Udmurtia, and we also eat a dish with a similar name. True, the recipe for our salamata is very different from the Yakut one. I recently wrote a short essay on Medium "Salamata - The Survival Udmurt Dish of the War" about how that dish helped my grandmother survive during the Second World War.

Wow! The lack of fruit and veggies due to the temperature didn’t even cross my mind but that makes sense. I wonder where they get fiber from in their diets. My stomach would be killing me if I lived primarily on dairy and meat 😅 so amazing how we adapt to different diets around the world.
They do have wild berries.
Their milk isn't contaminated and pumped with hormones and chemicals like they are here so you more than likely would be fine after a period of adjustment.

Do not assume they eat like that everyday. There is plenty of veggies and fruits in grocery stores as well as junk and processed food.

Thank you for sharing all these videos! I'm Yup'ik from Alaska (USA), and our peoples come from similar climates! It's fascinating seeing what Yakutian people (is that the right term?) eat and how it compares to Yup'ik traditional foods!

@@leilaschrof529 we eat frozen meat as well including: moose, caribou, white fish. We also eat beluga whales raw or boiled. Theres smoked fish we dry and smoke in a smoke house in the summer time. We dry a lot of food too like moose, Ptarmigan, as I mentioned fish. And we harvest berries during summer fall time to freeze for winter time. It's all very nutritional and delicious!

Hello from Singapore, a tiny island in Asia with no winter nor snow! We are usually around 26-36 deg. We have a few cold days sometimes in a year. 22 deg (if I remember correctly) was the record lowest temperature. It's so fascinating to learn about Yakutian culture, so different!

@@robertmoray988 but if you take a look at the ainu and the yakuts, you will notice that while the yakuts are entirely east asian looking , the ainu on the other hand are more Caucasian looking..maybe not Caucasian but definitely not east asian.

Stroganina is a Russian word for any sliced food, in Sakha language we say “tong balyk” - for sliced frozen fish, “tong byar”- for sliced frozen liver, and
“tong et” - for sliced frozen meat.

They are one and the same ethnic people. DNA testing and the Bering Strait used to be frozen linking Russia to Alaska. That's why there are similarities

This looks so delicious. I’m particularly excited over the frozen fish slices. I’ve loved raw fish since I started eating sushi at around 18 or so and now I’ve fallen in love with poké. I looove raw tuna and salmon the most and I would to try this frozen raw fish dish.

That Yakutian dish 'Salamat' is actually a word here in Philippines which means 'Thank you' 💕
It’s an arabic word. Plural for al-salam (peace, health, wellbeing).

I live in the State of Paraná, which is home to the largest colony of Russians. Very successful on your channel.

Yakutians are not russian, they are autonomous republic of Russian Federation but ethnically they are not Russian
It's the same thing as saying that native Brazilians are European Brazilian but ethnically they aren't

This woman is stunningly beautiful and I’m obsessed with her glowing skin. As someone who is eating a mostly carnivore diet it’s awesome seeing cultures that STILL eat this way. After all, our ancestors from northern and southernmost regions had to do because like she says, fruits and veggies just aren’t, naturally, available all year round.
just goes to show that humans can eat any kind of diet as long as it's composed of whole, natural foods.
Yeah, but unlike the idiots in America on a quote un quote Carnivore Diet, as you can see, these folks eat a lot more than t-bone steaks, butter, salt, and water. They have a varied diet with foods that have many nutrients in them. They eat desserts heavy in cream, which is stupidly off limits for the Carnivore Diet. Because as you can see, it seems to be quite healthy for them!
@@jeccalou9894 clearly my carnivore diet research is terrible because I still consume dairy. If it comes from an animal I’ll eat it. I also don’t have the issues most people do with consuming raw. The problem is meat quality in the US is really terrible. Unless you have your own animals you take care of and butcher who knows what’s pumped into those animals.
They still have herbs and berries growing there. And nowadays they just import vegetables and im sure some do indoor growing

LOVE your channel! It popped in to my "suggested" videos, probably because I view and study cultures all over the world and have traveled abroad several times.
I'm originally from central Alaska, now in far West Texas.
A few years ago a former colleague of mine (he being from Romania) somehow got on the topic of the coldest cities / towns in the world. Of course Yakutia became the center of our discussion and of course comparing the Yakutian winter with that of central Alaska. I must have spent several days studying a little bit about Yakutia and marveling at how the people have adapted to the environment.
Fast forward to today, it's SO COOL 👍 to stumble upon your channel!
Needless to say winter here in far West Texas is, well, can I even call it winter? I miss the cold and am hoping for a good snow so I can go backpacking in to the local mountains for two or three days.
I look forward to seeing more of your videos and learning more about Yakutia! By the way, I can only imagine the flavors of the frozen raw fish and other meats. FANTASTIC for sure.

This was actually really helpful. I’m playing in a dnd game and I wanted to include food ideas from regions that deal with extreme cold as the setting of the campaign takes place in one. As the general culture is fantasy and open for interpretation, I decided to fill in that with research of my own. Adding ideas like this should go over well with the other players I think. I like to drop a few ideas like this in occasionally with my character and it’s been well received so far. Also I just enjoy the research. Thanks for sharing! It’s definitely going to prompt me into further research for sure.

Я вырос в Якутии (Нюрба, Мирный). Помню празднование ысыаха, общее пение на празднике, какой то особый Дух. Конечно, всякое бывало-и драки, и ссоры и "так далее". Но в целом воспоминания о Якутии и якутах очень тёплые. Если кто не читал, советую прочесть прекрасную повесть Н.Лескова "На краю света", где очень ярко писатель показал Дух этих удивительных людей. Смотрел видеозаписи современного празднования асыаха-очень круто, был бы рад побывать на праздновании, но пока не получается. Желаю всем живущим в Якутии здравия. Моё почтение.

Путешествую каждый год в отпуске. Был там в Чочур Муране...классный ресторан. Отличное обслуживание и вкусные блюда. Очень Здорово сделан Интерьер. Нигде в России такого не видел. И..если летом выходить на балкон,то прекрасный вид на гору..в общем Экзотика. А заказал Местный суп,салат из строганины...и ещё какой то коктейль..не помню. В общем в восторге от блюд. Да кстати,недалеко находится Музей с деловыми фигурами внутри горы. И там Шикарно! В общем считаю,что такие Места обязательны для Туризма по России! 👍P.S. в этом ресторане были такие гости как Розенбаум,Чемпион мира Рой Джонс и другие

You are absolutely correct
I find it so fascinating what cultures consider “traditional” food, often tied to survival and what the surrounding land offers.
Nowadays the meaning is much broader with our huge variety of foods, and sometimes having no ancestral meaning (like eating turkey).
We eat a lot of Korean dishes, and there are many similarities here and with Mongolian dishes. Many ingredients are subsistence dishes, like pickled veggies, fish and meats with few preparations (bbq).
The pepper powder often associated with Korean food / soups is actually a modern import and traditionally the food was very basic and tied very much to survival in a land poor in agriculture (roots, root vegetables, greens mostly) and rice was a luxury.

I think Japanese tourists wouldn't mind Yakut dishes such as raw fish and raw horse meat. I wished that the political feud between Western countries and Russia didn't affect tourism, otherwise I think many Russian cities would've benefited from having many international tourists experiencing most of the minority cultures in Siberia.
The Japanese come to Yakutia periodically. Yakut foal, it stands out from the meat of horses. They carried out a lot of research in the areas where the stages of space rockets fell. During the research, it was found that Yakut horses are absolutely not exposed to radiation and help the body fight it.

In Yakut language alcohol is called “arygy”, very like “araka”.

It’s so cool to see Yakutian people also have a tradition of offering bread! I’m Jewish and we do what is called taking challah, setting aside a piece of the dough as a gift to G-d usually by burning it. I also loved seeing rest of your traditional cuisine in this video!

I am from the US state of Montana. I have been to Rio and I found the heat a challenge to deal with. I have also been to Siberia and experienced -54c temperatures. It was nice. :) Brazil is a lovely country though and remember. MAKE LOVE NOT WAR!!!!

These people seem to know instinctively that the fatty animal parts are the most nutritious, while our "nutritionists" think it's the unhealthiest.
The only people in existence, ever (maybe the indian yogis are an exception), who thought the healthiest foods are lean and primarily plant-based are us from the global, modern society.
It is a different climate. You burn a lot of calories to stay warm in Yakutsk. You can get away with eating a lot of fat because you would burn it all off every day. In temperate climates like America where we sit around all day, we don't need that many calories.
people on that eskimo type diet dont get very old too, heart attacks at a young age are quite common for them. i wonder why that is.

I had a window seat 💺 in my jet ✈️ as we flew over Siberia on my way to South Korea and onto Southeast Asia. I have always been fascinated by the cultures that live there in Siberia.

You really don't need fiber. You can thrive on just meat and dairy beautifully. Love this

They get a lot of fiber and vitamin c from the lingonberry.
Also they've been eating this way for generations because of the climate. If someone from another climate used to a different diet were to switch to this it would not be healthy.
@@profoundcake I've been eating high meat very low carb for 3 years through a pregnancy and 19 months of breastfeeding. I eat beef, eggs, butter, cheese, yogurt, cream, chicken, pork, fish ect...very little veggies or fruit. My blood markers are "pristine" described by my Dr. So you don't know if someone will not be healthy switching to a meat based diet, I am!
