@@NathanMannin And you are so right, picked up an 18 plate cooper s convertible from main dealer last week and I've smiled all week, what I didn't know is Mini took away the pops and bangs from all minis made from September 2018 thankfully mine has them! 😊
Really enjoyed your review! I bought the car for the reason you explained - its so much fun and happy. Having had years of 'serious' cars, I love this one, mostly because I'd never had bought it with my head. Having said that, even with sport mode and the odd back road, I'm getting 49 mpg!

Jealous of that mpg!! I've got a 15 plate Mini One (manual), drive mostly on country roads and in town. Lucky if I see over 40mpg. Apart from that fantastic car, just couldn't afford to insure a more powerful one! Haha

F56 definitely a fun car to drive. Especially the popcorn burst.. Powerful mini kart to speed around. Love your vids. ‘This car puts a smile on your face.’ Absolutely same on me. 🙌🏻😆🤩

1. Turbo spools around 2000-3000rpm give best blow off. I always like to play it in slow speed. 🤣
2. Pops pops pops pops. Most fun around tunnels. 💥

Brian Jyl I think you’re literally me, all I ever used to do is put it in sport mode, go on and off the accelerator for those flutters and pops and bangs 🤣 Doing it past a group of people and seeing them look when I look in the mirror 😂
Ninnam Yes yes. 🤝 I can see you’re a most ever happy boy in this mini. 😂😂😂😂😂 101% satisfied for the popcorns EVERYTIME. I’ve try driving a 3 door and 5 door Cooper S. Love the 3 door as the exhaust note is in deeper tone and more fulfilment of fun. The exhaust is closer to you. 🤣😆😂🤩😁

Drove a mini cooper camden from 2011 untill 2020, sold it and bought a mini cooper countryman 2018 ..comfortable but a bit boring.. after watching this video decided to sell the countryman and bought a mini cooper s from 2018, all in 1 week :D getting my cooper s on the end of february SO EXCITED

I’m about to collect this car. But how do I get these turbo flutters you were getting? The pops were class, especially for when driving in traffic around town. Just stick it in Manuel & sport mode? Not sure how I’d find having to manually change gear
This car was a pre OPF car so the pops were more prominent, what year is the car you’re getting? If you put the car in sport mode, the pops will happen anytime you let off the accelerator, the same with the turbo flutters. Although you can put it in manual mode to emphasise the flutters and pops just by going on and off the accelerator. Dead easy to and spent most of my time driving it like that 😁

@@mattyp8254 ok so yours will still have the filter so the pops will be really quiet. I’ve driven an LCI Cooper S and the pops are very muffled and you can’t really hear them at all. The exhaust still sounds really good despite the filter and will flutter. But if you want them pops louder, then you’ll need to do backbox delete I reckon or some sort of exhaust modification to get them pops like mine in this video as this mini is a pre OPF car.

I think the pop pop is why the fuel economy is so bad.. isn't that unburnt fuel being dumped through the exhausts?
That does make the fuel economy worse for sure, but even when I was driving normally and economically, the economy wasn’t too great

@@NathanMannin it was a MK 3 I'm pretty sure, 2014 ST3.. loved it, but wrote it off by hitting a Dodge Ram.. I'm getting a MINI because I've wanted one for at least the last decade, and I think it's time..

IMO there are sport cars with FAR worse economy for the performance and the ride quality is a VAST improvement from an R56 even ones with smaller wheels.
Oh yes for sure there are, I think I was just expecting more with it being light, but then again I did drive it silly sometimes! I’ve never experienced an R56 firsthand to know the difference unfortunately!

Will the 2021 Mini Cooper s sound the same ?
Unfortunately it won’t be the same as the 2018 one in my video, it depends where you’re from I guess. Here in the EU, cars around 2019 onwards are fitted with OPF’s to meet noise emissions. A particulate filter in the exhaust which makes it a lot quieter, and the pops and bangs are so muffled you can hardly hear them. They still have the same exhaust note, but it’s a lot quieter and the pops from the exhaust are so muffled, they’re hardly noticeable :(
@@NathanMannin that’s what I was worried about such a shame this is one of my favourite parts about the mini is that it pops with stock exhaust , Hopefully u still hear the turbo flutters

Long term review : 2018 Mini Copper Countryman All 4 S
Problems prior to 60,000 miles:
Door Latches: All four door latches failed (at various intervals) requiring the doors to be tied down to the headrest until repaired. The passenger door latched failed twice. Service manager was unable to offer an explanation as to the cause. Research mini and BMW door latch failures.
Battery Replacement: No indication/warning light given that the battery was getting low… It just stopped functioning. Replacing the battery requires removing support bars and engine compartment panels. Somewhat time consuming compared to most cars.
Engine Coolant: almost all of the engine coolant evaporated causing the car to overheat. No warning light that coolant was low. Car had been serviced by Mini of Bedford two weeks prior and had been consistently serviced by the dealership.
Decals: Decals around the headlights bubbled and needed to be replaced.
Tires: Run flat fair weather tires needed to be replaced to allow for inclement/snow conditions.
Service/Technicians: There are very few shops that work on Mini Coopers and most are as expensive as the dealer.
Overall: The Mini Copper is not a reliable vehicle and owning one in North America is costly unless you have the time to perform the repairs yourself.
I understand your frustration but they’re not the same platform as the F56 Mini and not built in the same factory and have quite a few different components to one another, I think the Countryman shares the X1 platform sharing a lot of those parts. Nonetheless not an entirely great experience you’ve had, I’ve not heard too many troublesome stories about the F56 though.

Tom Fidler Yeah it’s proper well built car, lots of good materials used as it’s part of the BMW group.

Cheers man, I’m happy to hear someone likes my videos 😁 I had a 6 month review video for my 125d but the footage got messed up and I no longer have the car anymore. So finding content for this channel is difficult to me as I don’t know anyone on CZcams who’d let me review their car or in person for that matter 🤣 All the cars I’ve reviewed on here are mine. But next month I will be getting a new car so hopefully a video next month or early May? I may possibly be able to review another car for April too. So if we are lucky maybe 2 videos in the next 2 months, consistent eh? 😉

There good cars untill something goes wrong, be prepared to pay high costs to get the issues fixed
I'd rather buy a camry instead ,it drives like a boat so smooth and relaxing and also more practical
