    Great vid really starting to appreciate your explanations it’s paving ASMR ha ha I can’t believe I do the same as you at work and come home and watch other men bending over laying heavy stuff ha ha ! 🤔 I ordered those levelling clips starting laying a porcelain patio on Tuesday so I’ll see what they’re like ! Bit pricey first off I think but obviously that’s getting the reusable red bits 👍🏻it’s only cos of you I got them good man

      Yeh I’m the same hard days graft then watch somebody else doing the same whilst I’m on the couch 🙄 as for those clips yeh good stuff plus it’s a spacer anyways might as well use it for both reasons plus peace of mind one doesn’t move coz that’s a pain in the arse to reset of one did. Certainly won’t level them unless you’re only using small slabs\tiles but it does lock them together. After a couple of hours you can lightly tread on them if you had too safely. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      Ha yeh I love watching brickies landscapers etc ! You do pick nice little tips from other people it’s great ! If I could give anyone advice from experience who reading this it’s to wear a back brace early in your career cos I’m nearly 45 and it takes 2 minutes at least to get out of bed in the morning! But thats because I have an extremely heavy penis ! But the big slabs didn’t help 😂

      @gilesj2215 Před 3 lety +1

      Hia !! I’m using those clips ! But do be honest I’m not sure thenmuch good for 20mm heavy porcelain really I find they just get in the way wen checking levels , as you said don’t really level so can’t really see the point for the money ! But hey I may get used to them ! Oh how long you waiting for the concrete to cure off so you can do that porcelain driveway! ? That’s something interesting!! Cheers

      @@gilesj2215 they can get in the way yes and defiantly not help level them but when you lay the tile\slab and you’re happy it’s defiantly not going to move accidentally like someone treads on it. And we all do from time to time squeezing past someone left tool in the corner creep over for it.
      Lay some tiles in the morning and by mid afternoon can walk on it safely enough. Plus it’s a spacer anyways and does look more profession to the customer 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      Okey doke cheers I’ll keep pressing on with them sure I’ll come around to them !! You just get stuck in ya ways and new stuff can take some getting used to I guess ! Mind you the porcelain is being laid in normal grid fashion as aposed to half bond like a prefer and a lot of them are 2-3 mm different in width 🙄🤔🤔and really pissing me off ! But you make it look right the best way ya can don’t ya !

    Great video, great tip using the temporary tile to set the string line, as a DIYer attempting my own porcelain patio that will really help me out👍
    Could I ask do you move the string line running across the patio forward to the front of each slab for every row you lay
    Thanks

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  Před 3 lety

      Yes keep it moving and most importantly don’t let it sag or the patio will follow suit and always check with the level anyways 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Any advice for a large patio with multiple level issues? We have a restaurant and leisure building all with different levels and 2 disabled ramps and everything merges into an outdoor seating area. It’s tough trying to bring everything together while trying to keep it flat enough for tables and while still giving it all fall from the building

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  Před rokem

      It’s hard to give an answer to that really without seeing it most of level issues involve water run-off drainage don’t forget don’t want any puddles 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      If you had a expansion joint in the concrete then I would just fill it with sand so if it wanted to move it could.
      Still laying the tiles on a cement bed as usual 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Hi scotty, hope youre well mate. How do you do your levels around a house where it has a right angle - for example, I am doing a job, and theres a main patio bit on 1 side of the house, but then where the corner of the house is, theres another stretch along there for a patio, both sides of the house have level acco drains in, so obviously, both sides of the house would need the paving to be falling away from or towards the acco. How do you switch levels up when going round a 90 degree corner?

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  Před rokem

      You will have a difference in height on both sides the patio against the main side of the house will be set and everything else will have to follow levels set from the start paint.
      Patio must remain level across and fall in one direction only.

    Thanks Tidybricks - useful vid'.
    One concern I have with those magic clips is that when you screw the cap down so that the newly laid tile is absolutely flush level with the previously laid tile - isn't there a risk of ever so slightly lifting one or other of the tiles such that the edge with the clip is no longer in full contact with - and properly adhered to - the mortar bed? Does this make sense? I can see this is less likely on large tiles likes the ones you were putting down here - but the risk of this happenning goes up exponentially the smaller the tile is - as it takes less pressure to lift smaller tiles. Interestingly, I note you recommend using the clips more on smaller tiles - so I guess my hypothesis is flawed somewhere! ;-)

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  Před 3 lety +1

      Everything you have written is a perfectly good question regarding those Vite clips and yes they don’t really do what they say on the tin really but they still are handy and I’ll always use them anyways from now on. The larger tiles are way too heavy for the clips to lift but smaller tiles say 300 x 300 that size tile would probably lift but still with a struggle if you are using a primer on the underside of the slab. So you needn’t worry about possibly lifting the tile otherwise they’re just not that strong but great for locking tiles together and seeing what you have laid that day so not to step on.
      I did this several months ago and the clips were really useful czcams.com/video/cjghoMqvRMg/video.html 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    How do you remove the clips afterwards? Snap them off? If so how do you prevent a bit of plastic showing in your grout lines?

    • @TheDranny
      @TheDranny Před 3 lety +2

      You kick them off pal and reuse the screw caps. The plastic breaks under the join line. Do a search on Raimondi vite and you'll see examples 👌
