i bleed the air on the cylinder head, where the water temp gauge is for the ECU, next to the sparkplugs. then I tilt the bike sideways 30 degrees to the right side so the air bubble goes up through that tiny hole where the thermostat is. then I fil a little more and re-bleed on the head. then I fill it up till bleed on the left side radiator. then I only get a few little air bubbles on the engine run. if you don't bleed the head then it takes a lot more bubbles before it stops.
When your engine temp warning light goes on without the rad fan going on that means for me: the temp sensor reports high coolant temp. the thermostat does not open the flow through the radiator: engine produces heat, coolant temp rises, thermostat does not send it through the radiator for cooling, radiator remains cool and the fan switch does not switch the fan on. Did I miss something? As you found, it must have been the thermostat valve. Dirty radiator would cause the rad fan stay on all the time.
Good video. What's your Model-year? My fan doesn't run when ignition is on. Only when the engine is running. My 701 is from 21. I have the same issue. But if you ask me, I don't think you solfed the problem with your fixings Riding aufm deutschen Feld is different as on the TET. =D Greetings from (TET) North-Macedonia
Thanks. Its MY 2020, I also recognised that the Fan wont turn on while the Engine is turned of on other Model Years. These Fixes work fine for me, I ve been around some slow paced Trails in some Heat lately and the Fan turned on much much later, so its fine for me and the Hot Water Light in the Cockpit wont turn on at all anymore
@@Speelbird I hope your right. I have some sorrows because of this issue. I go to Iran and Africa (videos coming soon). There's more hot as here in Balkan. It's only at low speed without any windflow. I am wondering why there's no proper oil cooler solution.
@@mariusontrack988 I would recommend to put the lower Fender onto your Bike as the Dakar Bikes do (Video also on my Channel). I also checked for Oil Coolers and you can get one at Lyndon Poskitts Shop for the 690, you should check it out. I also put some small CNC “Oil Cooler” onto the right Side of my Bike, you can find them on Ebay for 20-30 Euro.
@@mariusontrack988 Hi. Are you having the same problem with overheating? Is this a disease of this engine? I'm flirting with the 701 but if this problem exists then I wonder if it's worth buying the 701.
Did you figure out _why_ the thermostat failed? How many kms did you ride till if failed? What was that coked/ burned residue on the valve? The presence of such damage means to me at least one side of the valve was dry and exposed to big heat. Did somebody work on the cooling system before? All interesting questions...
Nope, I never found out why the Thermostat failed. It must have been at approx. 9000-10000 Kilometer if I remember it correctly. Until now everything runs smooth but I will install a bigger Waterpump within the next Months as well because I dont like to face these Problems again at a longer Trip.
nice! 🔥
When I see a new Speelbird video I click it, simple. A very thorough video my friend, I learned a lot. You’re good!
Awesome video - Thank you☀️ got a 701 2020 SM so this is great information for me😀 Drive safe👍🇸🇪
Thanks a lot :) I appreciate that very much! Ride Safe ✌🏻
