    Great video! This tool is one of the coolest things I’ve seen. Drew did a fantastic job on presenting the info! Really enjoyed watching this, so well put together. This collab was awesome! Congrats on making such a great tool Drew!

    Great Video, I didn’t do as technical, but went through each manufacturer doing the same. I’d say higher displacement boats for sure had biggest wave. Thankfully we got to ride in a lot. M240, SA450, Tige 23&25ZX, G23, and Fi23, 25 and Ri’s. Surf specific not wake. I didn’t like the gated boats at low speed at all, ride quality in G and Tige was horrendous if you’re on a busy lake. SA just would need some help with displacement with lead. I found G, Malibu, and Tige made huge waves, but short and not super adjustable. The Supra had a beautiful wave but not huge. The Centurions Road 100x better than all them. More runabout like. The Fi23s stock wave for Surfing rivaled any of the much much more expensive boats and was longer. Disclaimer as I purchased a Ri257 after 6 months of demoing and riding in others. We bought it to Surf 99%, so boarding may be different. Numbers say a lot, but I’d demo. I really hated the handling of some of them.

    Great video again!!
    I speak for me, but If I am looking to drop 300k on a boat, I am not setting for anything made by correct craft. It would be a custom Pavati, and it would certainly not be a 23’ boat either. If im spending Lambo money... I aint settling for a C8.
    The no replacement for displacement, is true, I have seen the old MC X80( and X55) and yes the wave those boats make are just as big if not bigger than all of the new boats today. The difference is, on the X80 a surfer cant switch sides by tapping their watch...but 3 - 4 people can surf that wave at the same time!! Its ridiculous and rivals the north shore. But the boat is 28’ long,(26’ x55) and 9’6” wide and has TWIN ENGINES (v8s)!!!! Yacht certified so no passenger limit!
    One thing that this industry needs is like a consumer reports. Something that is NOT funded by any manufacturer. So that when we compare brands we have another metric to consider -predicted reliability. I always hear talk about warranties... and purchasing extensions...ect being something to consider along with dealer location and support. For me, in anything I purchase the number one thing I consider is reliability. How long am I going to be stuck at a dealer, and not on a lake... or having to tow my boat to a far away shop just to fix something the manufacturer should have got right( for the price we pay)... Skiers Choice would not be happy.

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 3 lety +2

      I disagree on Pavati vs Nautique, I would say Nautique is the "Lambo" of wakeboats, not Pavati. But we all have our opinions. There are definitely many other factors to take into consideration but not many others are directly comparable like price and weight so this tool is meant to help you at least make your decision on price vs weight and then move on to other factors. I would love to see consumer reports on wakeboats too.

    • @toddhewett1027
      @toddhewett1027 Před 3 lety +1

      Pavati does not really do a stock boat. So they are more of a complete custom and say this was cars and coffee where there may be a viper, gallarado, 458, R8 owners hanging out... their heads will all turn when the Veyron rolls up. That is the Pavati, when one of them gets off loaded. Plus the Pavati has a more powerful engine. The one thing I cant stand from them is the god awful graphics.... but again that is just me speaking for me and not wanting to war.... plus, you know me... any wrap that makes a surf boat look like the Black Pearl will win my vote 100% of the time- especially if its on a $300k+ boat. 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

      @@toddhewett1027 A Pavati is like a Veyron if a Veyron could only go 100mph. They look cool but are terrible at every water sport they do and come from a bass boat manufacturer.

      Def get a pickup. 4x4 is the way to go, that way if your rears break loose, you still have grip. I went with tundra after wasting time and money on a ford 6.0 powerstroke( avoid this motor at any cost).
      You dont have to be loaded to get into this. How old are you?
      What is your job?
      KEEP the Tracell... you probably own it, and i bet it sips fuel.
      I am 41, and 11, years ago we were in a position to buy a nice boat buly doing the same figuring that Tim has explained.. except we always round up... that way we always have enough. The reason we did not buy in 2010 was our son got leukemia( he survived and is still with us) and we refocused everything on him. I quit my job as a deputy here to be with him. Fast forward, to about 2018... 2 years after we bought our current house, I started saving a bit here, a bit there... ( oh yeah I work at UPS) mind you we bought a 2018 mustang gt( for the wife) at this time too. So yeah Im a married father of 5, who loves guns and ammo, sports cars, super bikes, and still found a way to save $50k as what I thought would be a down payment, but due to covid travel restrictions last may, and a white hot boat market, I settled for the boat in my profile picture, 03 tige 20v r. e. With sketchy maintenance history for $25k and a bad ass toyota sequoia platinum( air suspension ) for same price. All Cash. Now I did not dip into kids savings either for this or have to sell any toys. I still have my old ass bike...camper, Mustangs... and again am 41.
      You CAN get a truck and a boat by 2022 if you want, and they dont have to be trash either.

    You need to factor in fuel capacities and economy.

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 3 lety +1

      There are definitely many other things that need to be factored into your boat buying decision than simply price and weight, this is discussed in the video. This tool gives you the ability to quickly compare and decide on price and weight/displacement so you can move on to the other factors.

    • @shakarocks
      @shakarocks Před 3 lety +2

      @@wake_mann fuel capacity greatly affects displacement. Hull shape also greatly affects what the weight can do. A deep V hull is going to do more with less ballast. The surf systems are also big factors on economy and performance.
