Funny that the ones who call themselves the truest devotees of the 'Religion of Love' are the ones who fought the hardest to stop an act that ensures we can love whoever we want from going through.
The God of the Bible is not all-loving, so it’s no wonder His followers aren’t either.
The bill includes protection for interracial marriage as well. Moscow Mitch, whose wife is Asian American, actually voted AGAINST a bill that would have prevented his own marriage from being dissolved by any state that decides to enact an Unconstitutional law that prohibits any LGBTQ+ marriage or any interracial marriage within the boundaries of their state, say North Dakota, Florida, Utah or Texas for example. That is one way to avoid alimony in a divorce, I suppose. "Sorry, dear, but they said we were never married in the eyes of God, so I don't owe you any alimony." And what, then, of the kids born into such a marriage? Are they suddenly liars on their job applications and loan applications because their parents were never married legally according to South Dakota or Indiana or Iowa? Does that mean they can now be fired with cause, or their house can be taken from them because of fraud? See, the implications here are far more than merely allowing someone to marry whomever they may love. There are additional consequences that may arise. I say this as a white man married 42+ years to a black woman. How could any person in such a marriage consider this to be reasonable. And I believe the GOP did this to intentionally hurt the affected communities. Oddly, there were gay Republicans that were on board with voting against this bill, just as there are female Republicans that were in favor of getting rid of Roe v Wade. The GOP is laden with stunningly stupid people.

The true meaning of marriage is when two people love each other, no matter color or gender. That's all it is in the end, and that's what I believe in. I'm LGBTQ myself and it's nice to know that at least for the moment, I have a reason to breathe a little again. My sisters are lesbian and bi and I can hug them tight and I can say it's safer to marry whoever they want. Love wins a little again.
