If you file some of the metal it will be a thick layer you can also use a gold acid test kit if its plated it will not show as gold and the acid will turn blue for base metals if its rolled gold it will show as gold and if you file the metal and put acid it will turn blue or green

How do you test for rolled gold if unmarked please? The magnet test doesn’t work because of the metal underneath.
