I have one question mate I like to exercise and lift weights, there's gym or equipment near the mining or in the site?
Thanks for sharing good information about mining. Nice video

G’day mate, most of the mining camps have a gym. They all differ slightly, but they’re out there. Some camps won’t have a gym - usually they’re exploration camps, so very small and cozy.

Hi Keithy, I'm in my 30s and seeking for a change from web development. I have a HR license, and plan on getting a Dangerous goods license, First Aid, Cert III in WH&S, and relocate to WA as I dont have a family. What entry-level roles could I apply for without having contruction work or a trade behind me?

G’day mate, I reckon you’ve answered your own question from the beginning! You have your HR licence, so straight up I’d be targeting the machinery operation roles. If you find that’s not what you want to do, you could probably get an internal transfer after a while.

Entry level jobs within the underground mining environment would be nipper/offsider for the jumbo drill rigs. You would be driving a UTE to transport the driller operator to the drill rig and delivering gear, from an underground storage area, for the operator. Another role that is not directly related to mining operations is driving the stores truck. In this role you would be transporting gear, from the surface store, to an underground storage area. This includes all the materials use by the jumbo drillers.

G’day mate, I can’t say for sure if they’ll accept it, although I think they might. Your salary will be based on where you’re working, they all mix around a bit.
