The prerequisite is a DWA or the retrofitting of an additional horn. The cables for this were on all Smarts that I have had under my fingers so far. There are also information and pictures about the "location" (front driver's side) here in the forum!

Hello. My mate has a 2017smart forfour 453, he replaced his battery but now his radio sound or screen is not responding, we can’t communicate with the control unit using odb it comes up no communication! Can you point us in the right direction please??
Mmm that is odd. I would go through the system starting with the fuses and so on. Simple reset pushing the home button 5 times. Does the obd2 see other ecus and just not the stereo?
Hi I have a 2017 four two can you replace the original fm stereo? I have the basic Fm radio with no digital radio was wondering if it can be replaced. Also where did you get the wind detectors thanks
If you have the original one with the touch screen then yes you can do the same as mine and add a newer headunit with dab antenna socket and just code it in.
If you have original headunit with no screen then it's cheaper to buy an android headunit after market, which will add dab,carplay and so on.
Yeah mine has no screen. If I get an android head unit I was just wondering how it would fit. You think somewhere like Halfords would do it? Thanks for the reply

To change to original with screen is about £200 to £300 ish depending on availability of parts.
I know the topic I will ask is not about the sound system but is about alarm. My 2018 Smart Fortwo electric drive alarm is going off some time when car is locked without do anything. Hope someone know what happening. Or someone know how to change to different alarm with push to start keyless.
Make sure the front hood / bonnet is fully seated as the sensor at the rear is known to cause this if not full depressed.
I put screw where the switch is touching to press more the switch and now is working good. Thanks
Does the original radio have AV input for a rearview camera?
You can pin it out at the rear. It's 4 pins. You can buy a harness adaptor for £100 to run either the original or aftermarket reverse cam from. The vehicle does need coding to enable the camera. I am currently building a work around harness with a small Chinese camera that will look smart but cost maximum of £30 lol. Will upload a how to soon.
@@mvautomotive7092 Much appreciated. by any chance do you have a link to the harness (around £100) ? Or have you figured out which pins are used for the video in? I have the software to enable the camera already, and would love to add a regular cheap chinese camera to the current stock radio.

Hello Matt, If I were to purchase the DAB stereo and antenna for my sisters 2016 Smart 453, and I were to send you the 4 digit code, can you confirm you can supply me with the Pass Code as Mercedes have informed me they would not entertain suppling this code or any form of upgrade? Yes. On the rear of the stereo there is a 4 digit security reference such a (a123-secuirty) send me this 4 digit code and I can send the pin.

Hello again Matt, I have only just go around to fitting the new dab radio module to the car. Upon connecting the plugs to the screen, the screen displayed 'unconfigured radio'. After entering the cars system as per your CZcams video and pressing the home button five times, the screen still shows the same unconfigured radio message. Have you any advice?
As always, much appreciated. How good/bad is the reception on the window antenna? Is it worth the hassle of trying to fit an oem? If you do fit an oem, please do a video, it looks like a ball ache.
Appreciated. The reception is not bad. It's a £15 antenna from amazon so I don't expect wonder's lol. It does the job. I live just outside London and commute in. The reception obviously gets better the closer you are to built up areas for coverage but that's no different than most dab radios.
Once I decide what I am doing I will make a part 2. I need to remove the roof lining to sort the camera wiring so might clear 2 birds with one stone.
@@mvautomotive7092that wireless phone charger you have (I bought the same one after watching a previous video of yours), causes a shite tonne of reception interference when I have my phone wirelessly charging (even if my phones turned off).
@thedad7313 that's odd. I have not had any issues with radio interference. When charging. I do also have a double USB cable to run android auto.
@@mvautomotive7092 I’ve got an AAWireless android box (works a treat), so I haven’t got a second usb running. It’s not my phone, as the DAB reception is fine when the phone is on. But if I put it in cradle, only the strongest DAB stations come thru. The interference isn’t immediate, usually takes about 5 seconds, and then it just drops out. Doesn’t matter is my phones Bluetooth and wireless is turned off either, just if it’s charging or not.
On a side not, getting that black plastic trim around the screen off and back on again, took my ages. Cheers for video.

It doesn't like that code. Definutly s005? Just checking it's the 4 digit code that has -security after it?
Yes, it is the 4-digit code after which -SECURITY is written and the part number corresponds to the video description.
