    Here's a tip: use an open plenum spacer style gasket underneath that 4 hole. You don't want it flopping in the breeze and eventually tearing off to be ingested by the engine. I use the 4 hole on top to sneak in a 1/4" phenolic between it and the carb to help keep things cool.

    Take a look at the Summit carbs.
    They recently aired an episode of Engine Masters, they compared cheap carbs and compared them to a $800 Holley XP.
    The Summit did very well, it had the same HP and Torque as the Holley and cost $300.

  • @brentfrederick6576
    @brentfrederick6576 Před 4 lety +4

    That 383 needs 2" headers and a 650 non choke. You will find the hp goes up even more, and on the end of those headers 3 1/2" collector.

    • @mikewillett5076
      @mikewillett5076 Před 2 lety

      That would be some impressive torque numbers for maybe a 307. Even with 1 5/8 and 1 3/4 headers, that's weak for a 383. Torque is low especially for that HP level. Even kinda low for most modern 350 builds. Somethin ain't right.

  • @Thunderstormworld
    @Thunderstormworld Před 3 lety

    Put a extremely fine wire mesh between the intake manifold and carb will make the fuel vaporise better, the problem is to find a fine mesh that doesn't restrict the air flow a lot

      To baker and got it back I had a total of 53.2 more rear wheel horse power than the Holley and since the initial cost was $178 less than the Holley I was already ahead
