- For me and my situation, storing most of my implements on dollies makes switching between them fast and convenient. This may not be practical for a lot of people, but maybe it is for you. In this video, I build a dolly for my box blade and discuss why implement dollies work great for me.

Yes dollies are the way to go. I just made one for my bh77 backhoe from your great idea. I made mine out of steel tubing. Thanks for the idea I love it. Keep up the good ideas.

As always Martin, a well though out and properly presented video. With my mostly old machinery, I don't use three point implements too often...a blade ever so often. But if I did, the system you describe and use with the dollies are a very good way to go no doubt !! I can't imagine having that much available concrete though...... FYI next time fill the holes with toothpicks or small dowel rods. Fills better then putty, and if you were to drill next to the old. Its solid and keeps from the screw pushing the wood over. Same as filling a door hinge screw hole. I have filled lots with tooth picks then run the screw back into the same hole.

I'm a recent new tractor owner and I love DIY stuff on everything I own. I think its the idea of creating something as well as saving money. I have watched most of your videos in the past couple of weeks and even made my carry all this past weekend and don't even have my tractor yet hopefully this week. I plan to have all my attachments on dolly's as well. I notice a struggle of lining up the dolly under the blade and see one thing it may make it easier. when I do mine i will place 2 of those fiberglass driveway marker sticks on either side of the dolly about 1/2" wider than blade. this will aid lining up the dolly with out guessing. keep up the great video's and thanks again

We put implements for our smaller tractor on dollies as well. Makes it easier to store them in the shop out of the way which is convenient for the larger equipment that takes up space and needs tractors to move it.

I like the wheels. I use furniture carts for rear attachments and inexpensive scaffolding for front attachments so I can stack 2 high and still have something underneath. I put a BORA wheel kit with plywood under my drill press. I still need to figure out something for the 3 bag material collection system and 60" deck from my mower.

I store my implements on pallets and move them around with a hand operated pallet truck. I store everything inside, out of the weather.
although moving implements is nice, for implements that go on the back of the tractor. I am planning to build a rack for most everything that goes on the front of my L3901. Grapple on the bottom, bucket above grapple, and pallet forks on top. Hope it works. To save space. I have a 60'x60' metal Barndominium! 34'x60' will be shop and garage, the rest will be home, when I get it built.
Racks are great for FEL attachments. I've seen videos of others doing that. A bardominium! I love the concept. It will be really cool to walk out of the back door of your home and directly into your shop! Best of luck with it!

I use dollies, but add a cheap ratchet strap to hold it securely to the skid.
Was moving a heavy backhoe attachment and the dolly stopped when it hit a seam between two pads.....the attachment slid on the skid but luckily did not tip over.
Now everything is strapped down in place for moving them around.
I'm getting too old to fight with things like that.
It really is a good way to store cat1 attachments.
Too bad I can't do the same with my cat2 & 3 farm equipment. 🤠
Just got my first tractor in October, L3301 and I cannot wait to have all the attachments you do. Have the loader backhoe and a grader blade. I think I’ve watched all of your videos, especially before I bought the tractor. Bought the knob for the steering wheel after seeing your video, love it. Currently gathering supplies for the chain box and upgraded tool boxes.

That is the best setup I can think of. Having the implements on dollies AND having the concrete pad extend outside the building too! I went a different way on my side. Everything on pallets, including stacked firewood (±2000lbs), and then I use a pallet jack to move stuff around. Not as convenient as casters and dollies. But a bit cheaper in the long term. I am a bit mystified about the next implement. I thought you had them all! Unless you get a root grapple! Thanks!

Great build, Martin. I did the same for several of my implements. I still have several not on dollies b/c there's no flat surface for them to roll across. How's she goin'? Nice build and the dollies are the answer for storing attachments. Unfortunately I don't store my equipment on dollies because my storage area has a gravel floor. I tried dollies and they just weren't worth the effort!!! Having the concrete pad behind your beautiful shop is ideal!!! Take care!!

Thanks! High quality casters make all the difference so if you spending too much energy fighting the casters, you might want to change out one set of casters and see if it makes a big enough difference to be worth changing them all out. Cheers!

That would be a great system if I had a cement floor. I store mine on pallets to keep them off the ground. I use a chain and either my loader boom or my 3 point boom pole to move stuff around. I think you have a well thought out and built system for your application. Really enjoy a lot of your ideals.... even if I can't always use them.

Hello Martin from CT! Always appreciate and am impressed by how meticulous you are with your projects. Right down to the level of detail in filling in screw holes with wood putty....awesome! I have built dollies for my rear snow blower and carry-all and they work great. Next dolly built will be for my wood chipper. Only wish I had more room in the barn for my other implements, and I would build more. They are sadly relegated to being placed on pallets outside under cover. I'm guessing the next implement for you may be a grader blade? Not sure you have much use for a snow blower attachment where you are, but they are awesome up here when needed....LOL. -Michael
Thanks Michael! The wood putty was to keep the old holes from compromising the strength of the new holes since they would be close together. Depending on the footprint of your wood chipper, a standard furniture dolly may work fine. That’s what my wood chipper is sitting on. A grader blade is a good guess! You’ll find out if you’re right in about 3 months. Also ruling out a shower blower is a pretty safe bet! LOL. Thanks for watching!

I made a dolley for my box blade with a heavy duty dolley my dad bought at auction. I added 2×4 around the edges to bring it to the required length. It rolled easily with the box blade on it. But at 10" tall, I found it was too tall for my little 1025R to hook up to it. By the time the draft arms reached the pins, the top hook was tilted too far back to reach the top link. :-(
That's a bummer, Terry! Sounds like you need to stack some 2x4s on the back side of the dolly to lean it forward enough to get to the top link. Thanks for watching!

We have dollies for everything. The only one that doesn't quite work the way we want is the dolly we use for the grapple. It just doesn't want to sit well

This is awesome! I have been thinking about doing something like this so I can actually use my quanset hut for something other than just storing tractor and implements. The implements are definitely the hardest to store. Was wondering if you came up with something for a post hole digger

For everything except my backhoe which has metal casters. Also on my ballast box which weighs 680 lbs, I occasionally move the dolly a bit to avoid developing a flat spot. Not a concern with the other implements.
Putting wood putty into the holes that you drilled that nobody will ever see. That is attention to detail!
