Everybody watching this trailer "genuinely freaked out" tho they were trying really hard to hide it. This trailer movie is a reality that could easily come true in 2024 us election.
They said tje same thing last election and nothing happened, and I doubt they we're actually freaked out.

And they told us that we were crazy but it could happen that history repeats itself and it is better that it not repeat itself because the other powers can take advantage of this.
The final scenes give goosebumps.
That guy in the red glasses with blonde hair that said "But what KIND of American are you" kind of seemed creepy and scary in the preview. I would LOVE a full 180 to that preview scene where once he realizes that they are just harmless and confuses refugees he apologizes for how they were treated and maybe helps them in some way, giving them good advice and extra supplies before letting them go.
He SEEMS like a scary villain in the preview so it would help keep the movie from getting too predictable.

THIS IS DISTURBING TO SAY THE LEAST
It should be more disturbing to people than it is. A civil war would devastate the US.
I know this is not technically a horror movie but horror that might actually happen, that is somewhat realistic scares us more than horror that is never going to happen even if the totally unrealistic horror would be worse IF it were to happen. For example, a horror movie about being stalked by a pack of wolves in the forest might scare the viewers more than ALIENS or PREDATOR since wolves really exist and people really have been killed by them so its something that is MORE RELATABLE.
I think the PURGE is scarier IF it were to happen (debatable since an actual WAR would kill and hurt more people in the long run than a "purge" probably, especially since really powerful weapons used in war are not allowed even during the purge) but another civil war is MORE LIKELY to happen so it scares us more.

Ha, americans are living their safest era ever (seriously, you think the Cold War was safer than now?) and somehow still live in constant fear. Fear to muslims is passing so now you have to fear yourselves, is frankly asinine.
American politics is simple yet so complicated. Thats whats terrifying. Theres nothing outside this country to fear about so the government manufactures it themselves as you can see with civil rights, women rights, nationalism, etc.

As a political movie, this has no basis in reality. Yes, TX and CA could (And probably would) team up under certain extreme circumstances, but it would be hard for them to function since they're separated by at least two other states. Another reviewer posted a more detailed version of the map seen in the trailer, and it shows TX and CA being the same color but labeled as separate republics instead of as the Western Forces. Plus the actual Western Forces territory not only doesn't include TX and CA, but also does include a few states that would just as soon stay in the US than leave. As a war movie, this is just plain boring. 85% of the weapons shown in the trailer are all M4s with 14" barrels and EoTech sights. I have no problem with a majority of the weapons being AR style rifles since they'd probably be the most common weapons on the battlefield if a war did break out, but some more variation would be even more realistic, maybe have ones with different attachments or barrel lengths or something. Also if a war really did happen, it definitely wouldn't be a full-scale conventional war like we see in the trailer, it'd probably be much closer to an insurgency like in the Balkans or Syria. This movie has "Razzie" written all over it: Dry acting (Save for Plemons), unrealistic backstory, boring action sequences, and a predictable storyline.
Not to mention, the most valuable region would be come the Great Lakes due to vast amount of fresh water. Cali is definitely annexing the pacific and rocky states. Texas would fore annex the southwest and eastern half of the Deep South. The Midwest would form a coalition. I feel bad for New England tho lol
@@SS4Luxray WA and OR would gladly join CA, but states like ID, MT, and WY would definitely resist hard against any CA takeover and probably form their own country. I don't see TX doing any annexation, but definitely would form an alliance with either the plains states like OK and AZ or maybe with the gulf states like MS and LA. Southern states like AL, GA, TN, and maybe even AR and FL would probably be leaving as well. The former US would probably be still hanging on to DL, MD, OH, and a few Northeastern states. The Great Lakes region would be of great importance, but the Midwest/plains states would be almost equally important because of their vast agricultural resources. Coastal states would be crucial as well for securing ports to receive aid from overseas.

@@SS4Luxray Sadly there is a limit to how much information can be crammed into a movie that will probably be an hour and forty minutes or 2 hours long as there is A LOT of complicated politics here. I wonder if this will become a MEDIA FRANCHISE with tie in books and graphic novels and movie sequels and a tv show etc? One single movie does not feel like enough for the epic scope of this story.
It would be like the PURGE being ONLY that first movie and without the sequels (and prequel) movies and tv show. This is too EPIC for just one movie.

@@Zurround that’s what I’m thinking too. Tbh, had HBO not canceled Lovecraft Country, we could’ve had a similar franchise with that series that could’ve spun off something like this. But I am curious to see how this film is received once it’s released.
