  • In this episode of Doctors Getting Coffee I spoke in depth with Dr Swapnil Pawar. I ran into Swapnil in a corridor months earlier and recognised him from his critical care podcasts (there are many!). We spoke briefly and he was keen to hop on an episode - and finally we could make it happen. Well he didn't disappoint! We spoke about psychological coaching, impactful patient stories, how to become an intensive care doctor, and how to live a balanced life.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Thanks. My husband was admitted to ICU on several occasions, and I was very grateful for the care he received. It was good to hear how medical staff deal with critically ill people and support the patient and family and don't keep people alive at all costs but support them in a dignified death .
In the end I had to face my husband's death ,and painful as it is ,I think if we can all accept death as the end of our life on earth rather than avoid talking about it, the more normal it becomes.
Interesting the doctor said they don't prevent the patients final destination and give palliative care where necessary.
I presume he has a faith ,as my husband and I did , so we know our loved ones are safe in God's care.
A very good account of the balanced approach needed in that field of care.
