This week on Khaane Mein Kya Hai? I drove all way to a Choufula Village on the Pune - Satara Highway.
Why you ask, well there's only one reason, food! There's a restaurant, actually a highway dhaba that serves the most amazing food. Raan, Biyani, Mutton, Chicken the list goes on. And what more they cook over a 100 Raans mutton and chicken and it's all sold out. In fact the owner had to order more Raans for our shoot, which too got over.
That's how great this place is and is a must visit.
It's 2 hours away from Pune and 6 hours from Mumbai. Rest assured it will be worth the drive.

Maharashtra has many underrated areas which are literally unknown to the people residing in main cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik etc. The food and tradition here is so different and fabulous that its taste cant be matched with the regular dishes being served in the regular hotels. This kind of traditional food and culture should be highlighted more and more so that even the people living in the outskirts would go out someday to these hidden areas and enjoy the amazing food, eventually benefitting the rural people working hard towards serving their customer. In a way Good Job by Kunal sir!!!!!!

The rustic and earthen food of Maharashtra is rather underrated. I think it has a divine and celestial taste to it, subtle and homely. We need to start feeling proud of it and celebrate it more. We need to promote more of this cuisine and that of the East, rather merely focusing on North Indian cuisine. So also the food of the eastern part of india is so very flavorful and that of southern india deep in its hinterlands with its tribal delicacies. India has so much of food variety to offer the world that it is mind boggling. We should always remain the planet feeders and celebrate our rustic and earthen cuisine globally. Thank you Kunal, keep discovering these gems that make us proud that we respect every morsel of food.

Maharashtrian dishes are more towards spicy food due to our hot climate especially in Marathwada and khandesh . Our Mutton dishes are so good in taste with chilli heat hence don't get well with North Indian people who prefer more of less spicy food.

This food has evolved over the years with Maratha flavours। Mughlai food has no exclusive rights over Mutton। Huge number fighting men from Arabia and Turkey migrated to this part of the country and down South। They were employed in different empires। They gradually settled down and merged with the mainstream।

I am quiet curious to taste the mutton raan. I remember a good mutton raan I had tasted at Kareems in New Delhi and another hotel in Ludhiana.
This mutton Alani soup is best for those who have cough and cold.....once u drink that hot soup...it will remove all your cough from your chest...also it has turmeric added.into it.....i drank it many times when i was infected with covid....... ❤️

Bolhai is sheep meat relished in Maval region of Pune...as it's considered sacred to Lord खंडोबा
Correction - It is eaten in almost entire pune district along with Some parts of solapur and ahmednagar. Bokad is vehicle of Goddess bolhai, that's why people don't eat it.
