Hi Alex, your opening sequence reminded me of my younger days and trips to this location. There use to be a “fisherman’s camp” on the outlet of this lake that had a caravan site on it and the old timers use to stay in it for months catching trout and canning them for kai during the rest of the year. The access road was eventually closed and the mill company’s polluted waste ruined the river for fishing so angling changed to trawling the lake for trout. I started fishing the car park, orchard and stream mouth during the great experiment of the super big trout experiment days and we managed to hook into some huge fish. Cheers mate. Harera

Another cracking video - the shots of the trout in clear water were stunning. I am lucky to see more than a few inches into my river at the moment so great to be reminded of the beauty of these fish in their natural habitat. Big thanks.
A lot of work, but hover the drone above the fish you're targeting. That footage of the take from above would be epic mixed in with the ground level. Especially in the clear water you were just in. If anyone can do it, you can. Your videos are so far beyond anything else on youtube for fly fishing. Your knowledge is a Master Class.

A high rod angle is basically pulling a fish up into the swifter water and allowing free rein to move side to side. A low angle puts constant side pressure on the fish pulling it towards you and allows it to stay down in the slower water. Try tying a string overhead and pulling on it. You can move freely all around it. Now tie the string to a door handle and pulling. The string is constantly pulling you towards the door.
Love seeing the new water, Alex! Great job! I need to tie up some of those egg flies for this coming steelhead season. They seem to work so well!

Looks like egg patterns work well with rainbows all over the world. I’ve caught so many of them on an egg that I tie. Just flat out works. Loved the clarity of the water too. Good stuff and thanks for sharing.

Great video again Alex. I have sorted the Infinity Smooth out. As you know they have over loaded the line, they say by half. Well I think its more. The problem was the rod. Same rod I have used with a lot of lines. These are rods around a couple hundred quid. I had it on a mid tip. Won't work. Well only for shorter distance. But fine on a fast tip. So I am happy as I have me a great line ready for winter. Thanks mate. Shaun.

First!? Great video. I was having more luck with eggs during may and into June some how and I am in Colorado so it was pretty much in summer.
Very cool. The winter colors are awesome like steelhead. Getting ready to head back to Montana but river temps are already getting too warm which is no bueno. Need some of that snow I get out there a month ago.

The camping ground has been closed a couple of years due to an incident that happened which is a bugger!

Weather in Pennsylvania was way too warm but I got a rainbow on when it was colder this morning and it was around 12 inches
Then while catfish fishing I had a 14 inch rainbow bite on and it ended up dying sadly because the warm water temps caused tons of stress

They are prob bullies or some other small baitfish although there were a ton of Crays in there too..

Never understood the sight fishing deal since i cant see any fish in the rivers here but have to rely on my ability to figure out where they are anyway but you sure seem to enjoy it so maybe i'll try it one day on some brownies here just to see if it's for me or not.
Sight fishing, in my opinion, requires more skill and finesse. My preferred method over blind casting.

I just really enjoy the visual aspect when you can see it all going on in front of you! There’s a time for fishing blind and I do that heaps too though..

It's actually a river, and the river closes every year for a number of months so fish can spawn. So yea 🙄
