REMOTE FISHING for BROWN TROUT [Buddy ALMOST DROWNS!]
Vložit
- čas přidán 6. 12. 2021
- I get about as remote as I can go on this fly fishing trip and plan to spend a week in the wilderness with my buddy JP, as we explore a majestic river which holds some good brown trout.
A massive effort to just get there and then it just gets more difficult as things go on but the rewards of mind blowing scenery and fish make it all worth while.

Yes- Great adventure! staying tuned!
These videos are definitely going to help a load of people get through the next few cold months of winter and the incredible lack if sunlight we now have in Canada.
Hope it helps pass the dark days buddy!!
I am a sucker for inreach and helicopters!!!! Awesome
Who doesn’t love a whirly bird..?!
Hey Alex love your channel thanks for sharing. Know exactly where you are been there back in 2003. An amazing place. Were in there for about 3 days. One of the days me and my buddy hit the Eldorado Run and will never forget it. Keep it under your hat. Go hard or go home. Well done.
Well done by you and J.P.! Looking forward to watching the next few from the trip. Couple of really quality fish beautiful colors. Cheers Alex!
This was the best video so far. The push it’s taken so far to get where you are is inspiring.
Thanks heaps man, those trips are the most rewarding by far!
Super cool adventure video including great brownies again of course. Top!
Wow what a exciting video.
Very happy your friend had a life jacket on so many of my buddies friends have not made it because no jacket the fish you both were catching were out of this world keep them coming.
What an amazing adventure Alex in a special place totally awesome dude! Hope JP has warmed up after the early bath 😃 looking forward to next episode 🎣✌️🇬🇧
Those sandflies dude! brutal! Fishing looks mad good!
You’re a legend Alex, best content creator on CZcams! Another awesome video! 👍
Dude, I appreciate that a heap. Thanks man
Alex you guys are tough as nails and fearless. This may be your best adventure yet. Thanks for the great content and video. 👍🏼
Was a special trip for sure!! It got better
Thank you for another great video, Alex! I should have been down there next month, but the pandemic is stopping me. I'll just sit here and cry, watching your video's. Next January though... Maybe I run into you. Greetings from Norway.
YIKES!! That was a close call with JP getting baptized in that river! Happy he made it ok
Yeah it all worked out good in the end!
Those New Zealand trout are Amazing!
The first fish with the black around the mouth was beautiful! What a special place!
Great Alex, what an adventure. Beautiful area and nice fishing.
The fish are massive and gorgeous.. Stoked for more videos from this trip! Thanks for sharing.
Another great video to soothe my cabin fever. Thanks Alex for sharing.
Another AMAZING Mission! Nice story telling of the adventure.
Cheers buddy!!!
Love seeing your thought process & analytics when planning to catch fish; thank you & hope to see you on the water! 👍
Can I tell you just how amazingly authentic the lead-in is. That's just exactly what I needed today!! Greeting from the Australia Lockdown Disciple, Germany!!
I just love to watch your videos Alex and to see how you guys catch those beautiful fishes. You are living a dream. I'm looking forward to the other videos of your adventurous trip
Simply outstanding. Those browns are in great condition.
You’re doing it right boss! 🔥
Those first two fish must make the effort to get there worth while. Beautifully put together video Alex, thanks.
Not sure I can wait a week , great video 👍
Giving that kayak spill the big “yeah… nah” haha, bugger that
Very cool. I love expedition kayaking and fly fishing....it's almost like they go hand in hand.
I love to watch your videos Alex and to see you guys catch those beautiful fishes. You are living a dream. Looking forward seeing the rest of your adventure and all those nice fishes you have caught
Thanks heaps bro!
Hi Alex, another cracking good video. Great balance of fishing and adventure. I know that river crossing only too well, Mate. Great to catch up earlier this week and I have figured out the coffee machine too, any time!!
cheers Mate
Cool trip Mate! Thanks for letting us tag along!
Thanks for watching brutha 🤙
Great start to the trip Alex, looking forward to the next installment, JP would have been a bit chilly for a while after his swim
Yeah he was a bit!😆
Another great video Alex ... good luck for the next push up
Another epic video 👌 and those 'that's what she said' jokes are brilliant 😂
They are never not funny😆
Excellent video Alex, bucket list addition in place on the sheet
Hi Alex, yes it takes around 2-3 days to walk to that tributary. There is one hut on the way but definitely tiger country and not for the faint hearted. The sandflies are fun there eh?
Oh yeah they are a good time alright. They grind you down day by day don’t they!!😆
Looks an amazing place Alex. You capture the adventure well on video too.....a story well told.
Thanks man, exactly what I was going for!
Awesome videos as always. These are my favourite additions
Yet another amazing place and super fish! I'm stoked for JP too catching those two great fish 🤙 Looking forward to the next episode!!
Simply amazing fish!!
Love it, man. That backcountry looks absolutely amazing. Really glad your friend is okay, that can be a very scary situation. Look forward to next weeks video. Cheers from Colorado.
Thanks Colorado!! Good times 💥
Phew! Pleased JP recovered well. What an amazing place.
Yeah he did well
Nice video, Alex. Try to fish without indicator; just watch the tip of your fly line. I figured out that it's much better than an indicator, especially on the South Island rivers.
Very cool! Looks like not just the trout are wild. Great looking fish BTW. My blackout stood up well too. Really enjoyed this video. Look forward to more! Sorry about the flies.
Thanks heaps. It’s wild alright and I love that!
Absolutely epic video. Wow
Thanks man
🙏
Beautiful river, beautiful fish, beautiful filmed!
Watching this is a nice escape from reality outside here, -17 celcius.
Big thumbs up!
Ooooosh that’s a bit cold!
Again. Legend and legendary trip. Excited for the series
Chur bro. It was a great trip🤙
Love a Backcountry adventure, you know it's a good trip after that 1st day. Excited for the next upload! 🤘🎣

Excellent video, Alex. I'm planning a trip there in the spring.

Great video Alex the fish were stunning can’t wait till the next one 🏴🏴🇦🇺🇦🇺🐟🎣🐟🎣
Thanks man! Stoked you digging em🤙
Thats a dream trip getting a heli in to an absolutely amazing place! AND some spectacular fish! Your videos are great!
Yeah it’s a sweet way to do a trip! Stoked you enjoy the content man🤙
Hey brother Alex, wicked channel my man. Wish you all the best and merry Christmas.
Great video
Epic Brutha just epic.... only issue is having to wait a week to watch episode 2!!!!!! 7 sleeps and counting
Awesome first day Alex
🤙
Awesome
Epic!
How your day goes from good to bad to great! What a start!
Makes me wanna go fishing
Great job Alex..
Thanks man
Living the dream Alex!! Where on earth did you magic up those kayaks??
Trying to bro!
I used magic of course…!😆
@@TrippinOnTrout haha that's what I thought!
Makes my day when you say you have posted a new video bro. Loving these south island adventures
Awesome bro, thank you!
Love the videos man
A classic addition to the Great South Island diaries. Obviously I am biased as a Cantab SI angler but the sense of adventure that is brought to these tales with sight fishing remote waters is amazing and brilliantly portrayed. Can’t wait for the next instalment as I sit through a period of inclement weather upsetting backcountry plans
Awesome Tim, thanks heaps. Love that adventure side of those kind of trips aye
Epic adventure Alex. Have you ever done a trip like this one, go thru all that effort and then get skunked?
WELL DONE ALEX .. SEE YA SOON BOB..
Noice
Wonderful video and awesome location. Also I like the method you used to catch your second fish. I call it dredge nymphing, just recently caught my two largest wild rainbows that way.
We call it naked nymphing…
Awesome, I think you have found the meaning of life
You may be right bro…
Do you have a Friday filler video about what goes into planning a backcountry trip like this? If not it’d be super cool to hear you explain the logistics of it all
I don’t but thanks for the idea…I will make a note and put one together 🤙
You are full of “that’s what she said” jokes, but keep them coming because they are extremely funny
Your videos make my day man
Thanks dude 🤙
Want to go fishing ......... but I have spent a bit of time cleaning my reels and lines. And treated my lines for next season. Need to remember to do my rods . ....
Great video !
Are sandflies all those bugs around you ?!
Thanks Man, yep they be sandflies!!
Hi Alex, I read all the comments below and don’t need to add to the superlatives of a great fishing video. I do have one question, why the shorter version of the chopper ride? Couldn’t the pilot drop you nearer your camp site and save you that hike and swim? Looking forward to the next episodes. Cheers mate. Harera
No we got dropped on the edge of a wilderness area so Noone can fly any further in
Doozee of a trip. Pretty scary first day all round. Love the way you put this together and livin the experience with you two. Well done JP for not drowning. Grew up fishing the top end of the Murray where water can get big after Mountain range rain. Nearly lost a brother just pissing about in the fast water. Once it gets you, you gotta relax and let it take you to a get out spot. Anyways, what a day and looking forward to the next days, the fishin, the catchn and the stories.
👍
Where’d the kayaks come from?! Amazing videos btw!
Alex, your videos are epic! You've helped me a ton with your Friday Fillers! From various rigs and your knot tying...your the MFin MAN! Also, you've always had great tunage on your videos! What was the intro song here!?!
Close shave for you buddy there! Loved this one and look forward to the rest, some V pale fish, are they sea run? Also, what make and model camera is yr buddy using there please, assume a Sony? Cheers..
Nah he Is using my other Olympus. EM5 mark 2
🎣⛵🏊💮💯👍👍👍✌
Dangerous when you tip though dobe it before many times
Kinda personal question, but on these longer trips, do you ever take fish for food? I'm assuming the numbers in those rivers are pretty low, therefore you have that insane quality?
Personally I grew up in a family of fishermen by trade, so whenever we're fishing we fish what we need and we're done for, work and private. If there's not enough fish to harvest somewhere, I've learned to avoid it to "keep the balance". More recently I've been practicing C&R by myself, but I do love some fresh fish over the fire.
Tight lines! Saving up to come fish NZ one day with a buddy, it's 2. on my bucketlist after a billfish on the flyrod!
No I never take fish bro, especially from those more remote, less populated rivers. You are bang on when you said that the quality is high and therefore the population low and therefore those fish need to be left to breed and maintain the fishery.
🤙🤙
What's the deal with the kayaks? Are they left at the spot for every fisherman to use?
No they belong to the heli company
Cigar??? that place is prime for you know, some wakie tabakie and then to sleep like a baby
You’re not wrong but I can get good cigars easier…🤷♂️😆
Hy there. Are your wading socks waterproof and keeps out the water around your legs, or the water is always inside in your socks? Thnx
The wading socks are not waterproof. They are made from neoprene most times to keep you toes warms from the cold water.
Like Emmanuel said, feet get wet but stay warmer with the neoprene socks plus they keep the pumice, dirt and rocks out of your boots too
@@TrippinOnTrout ok, thnx! And good luck for trip :)
