    Today was my second day on a spyder, coming off 2 wheels. 3 or 4 times today I laid on the gas pretty hard to try to stop from a very slow roll. I kept thinking maybe my brain was confused because of the lack of front brake. I was thrilled to hear you mention that and to see others in the comments with the same experience.

    I have the 2021 RTL. Like you, I found myself grabbing for the clutch and front brake at times. I took me a while to break that habit. I don’t have a problem with the foot break. I think they changed the positioning in 2020. I was riding a VTX1300S until I made the switch to the Spyder. The foot boards and brake was similar to what I have now. I do agree that on corners there is a sense you might leave the ground. Quite different from leaning the bike into a curve with two wheels. It takes some getting used to, but I can take curves at a pretty good clip. I picked up my Spyder late April and have about 7,000 miles on it now. I plan to install Baja Ron sway bars before I ride Route 66 next year. The word and reviews are very positive and suggest an even better ride on corners.

    I just joined the club. Found a 2021 F-3S with 705 miles on it. Have only had a few chances to ride it. It’s a bit different than my Std Valkyrie but am loving it so far, can’t wait for this next season so I can ride a lot more. It’s pretty chilly here in the winter. I live in the far west burbs of Chicagoland. Burrrrr!🥶🥶🥶Loving the Spyder so far. It’s much quicker than I was expecting. My Valkyrie was a beast. This is pretty similar. Very quick 0 to 60 MPH. The Valkyrie was about the same HP and Torch. But 1340 cc flat 6 with TBR6 into 2 headers. It sounded like a cross between a small block Chevy and a Porsche in heat at WOT! Miss that bike.

    I wholeheartedly agree with you on that point - the RT is a different position and stance, and so, a different ride experience. I didn't like sitting up "on" the bike. It felt like a UTV wheeler (feels unstable to me). I've been on HD big cruisers and touring rides (Electra Glide, Road King, Heritage) for about 50 years. Knees were giving me no end of fits so I switched to the F3.

    Good insight! Is this safer than a 2 wheeler?

    • @susierebelryder492
      @susierebelryder492  Před rokem

      Yes. Because with a 2 wheeler, unless it has anti locking brakes, you have to apply just enough pressure to stop but not lock up the wheels. The Spyder not only has anti locking brakes but 3 of them which means a Spyder can stop much faster. The only thing to worry about is stopping faster than a car, and if there’s one behind you you might get rear ended.

    Id change those shoes to riding boots. I consider a Can Am a type of motorcycle conveyance, and I would hope that you like your feet in the shape they are in now as much as I do. :)

      The “shoes” are Dianese motorcycle boots. They have extra padding and support to protect the foot.

    Remount your bell(s) lower. The gremlins don't really hear them at that height until they've climbed into your lap... :)

      Those bells are 1960 & 1964 Silver dollars made into bells. They are mounted this way to keep an eye on them and very difficult to steal. I also have bells given to me attached to the lower tube just in front of my feet. They are as low as can be.

      @@susierebelryder492 do those coins hold some special meaning? or is there a back story as to why they were reformed and attached to the spyder? Seems like a reduction in value of the coin wasn't a factor, so I was wondering what the motivation was to re-shape them?

    1:45+ if you drive a car, you should Always release accelerator when stepping on the brakes ( it should be done by the same foot, so there is NO mistake, weather auto/manual..
    9:20 ASSUMING, you ride/drive with music, NEVER had music on whilst I drove, but always moaned when it didn't work..
    10:09 ish were talking about info systems on/in a car, for those seconds you eyes 👀 are off the road, that's enough to be pulled over, how many years over police looking at a computer screen, to you accidentally pushing a button will it take them to cite you for not obeying road laws, even tho they break them almost daily
    However, a nice vid...

      Thanks - This is about motorcycles, specifically the Can Am Spyder which is quite different from a car. It would be very difficult to have you foot on both the accelerator and apply brakes at the same time, but with the Spyder it is possible as they are two different controls. So we need to remember to roll off the throttle when braking. - In my 42+ years of riding I’ve almost always had music as well as CB to talk to fellow riders. I don’t make phone calls but some calls need to be answered and I pull off when I do. - This isn’t about info systems in a car as it is very different to the new motorcycle systems. Motorcycle safety teaches to continue to keep your eye moving, looking 12 seconds ahead as well as glancing in the mirrors. I glance down to check GPS on the odd occasion but never need to continuously look at it. We don’t “accidentally” push buttons. We have to engage the turn signal, horn and other buttons on purpose. I learn them and don’t need to look down when using them. Thanks for the comment.

      Since I’m new to making videos and music use can be a legal issue, I use what free music/sounds that are available. If/when I really get into making vids I’ll learn how to use music better. Tips are welcome, not so. Ice comments aren’t.
