I bought mine 2 days ago in an Indian wholesale supermarket (that’s open to the general public) it was hard, green and knobbly on the outside. I’d left it in my bag and when I picked it up to fridge it 36 hours later, it fell apart in my hand so had ripened very quickly - had to eat it there and then !
Mine was a pale yellow colour inside with big black seeds, lovely custard flavour and very sticky ! Going to plant my seeds - don’t expect any fruit off them because it’s not warm enough in England, but if they make a nice looking plant, that’s all that matters ! At least they will be a talking point in my little garden !
I just saw this Apple in the store and decided to bring it home. Thanks for the explanation of what to expect once I cut into it.
Exactly my experience.
Thanks I just received 3 and had no idea about them. Great video and much appreciated info. 👌🏼 greetings from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
The second i see this at the store it's gettin' in my cart
That’s amazing
To me it's a similar case as cheese, the texture is kind of weird(to me) but the taste makes up for it greatly. Definitely worth a try.
In Sydney Australia cherimoya seldom available ready to eat. Good point Kimberly - once blackened seldom edible. So - how to ripen - some say: just leave at room temp (20 Deg. ish) until feeling softish. Another suggestion is: place in a paper bag with lumps of charcoal at room temperature to regulate ethylene environment- seemed to work but not sure that it is better than leaving at room temperature.
I bought one today and watched your video when trying to find out what the hell to do with it. It's fucking amazing!!! Expensive here in England, though.
yeah £1.40 each from my local turkish shop! literally just bought it because i thought it looked like a dragon egg and thought i HAD to try
Cool channel love your vids!
If you dryvyhe seeds out take 500 and let them dry out and crush into a powder.. Then cook down the powder with a tiny little syrup.. Then drink it. In a while you can't walk. It's good if your in a wheel chair on pain. No pain from neck down.. Cool to eat aswell..
Why would you reccomend doing this?
thnx it's so tasty , as Vegan i love it
i excitedly bought some because i had heard they were tasty -- however it tasted very bitter, like eating pine needles. i assume it just wasn't ripe...
Yep
They grow as well many times wild in Açores or Azores and we know them as Coração Negro, Anonas or Fruta do conde -.
Thanks
It's like a super smooth heavenly pear, not grainy what's so ever like pears though
Depends on the sugar content of the fruit and the type of sugar apple. The flesh can sometimes become grainy. Especially the lumpy skin ones.
Like a pear? Nah it tastes way better than a pear and the texture is super smooth, closer to mango (if it's ripe enough). It must be super high in sugar because it's the, if not one of, sweetest fruit I've ever tasted. And I've had many.
I am Indian and I grow it in my home garden.
That is amazing! I have a number of trees in pots - only a few years old. I'm hoping one day I will get some fruit. Problem is I'm in Canada. It never seems to be quite a long enough hot season for them. Do you use the leaves for tea or medicine, by chance, Mukesh? Kimberly
Its really taste like custard apple..but its more delicious
how can you tell if it is overripe??
Where would one buy this in the US?
Has the custard apple gone off if the centre of the fruit on the flesh is a burnt orange colour and slightly bumpy?
It’s probably off now
do you know if its important to buy these Organic ? due to if pesticides or chemicals was sprayed or does the skin protects it? please someone help
i have a pokey chermoya with me now
How do I know when it’s ripe to eat?
if on the inside it is a bit light brown like colour is it gone bad?
Hi, Maggie! Yes, it's probably gone bad. It should be a white or custardy color. Great question. Hope that helps! Have a marvelous week! Kimberly
@@CookingWithKimberly thank you!
You are very welcome! Kimberly
wth my one was full of seeds which were coated/surrounded in a little bit of flesh you cant just slice it you have
to put it in your mouth and then spit the seeds out
Hi, Shahmir! Yes, they can tend to have a lot of seeds, at times...It would be amazing, if there were less! Thank you for stopping by with your comment! Have a marvelous weekend! Kimberly
My tastes like a mushy pear
@@shamsta21 lol this is a more accurate interpretation of the fruit flavor. Lol no way would it have a flavor similar to a mango or kiwi. Still yours was probably over ripe. Yours sounds like the one grown in the Carribbean and west indies. Sugar apples ripe really fast.
Cherimoya and mangosteen have good Health to stay way cancer. I suggest all people can try to eat Cherimoya. Thanks
I likened it to eating super sweet baby food. Not something I could eat on a regular occassion
Kimberly
Thank you amiga kimberly 😙
i think it is like a pineapple, a mango, a kiwi, and a pear and banana
It amazes me how people interpret the flavors of tropical fruits. Lol I'm assuming you aren't native to the region.
hola kimberly delicious mmmmmmmm thank you amiga kimberly 😙
+Montse Bausa roca - Gracias tanto por ver el espectáculo, mi amigo. Tener un fin de semana maravilloso.
Kimberly ;)
Lovely fruit shame about the million seeds in it 😩
You dont even notice it shut up your over exaggerating ☠️
Anything that tastes s good is worth the seeds. Just spit them out onto a side plate
@@dragoneater5150 play nice - unless you haven't been taught any manners! Then you're excused.
They have no flavour.
