you don’t get it. As a mom or a grandma you get great joy out of providing nourishment to your most loved ones. This video makes me cry. All those times I asked my gram for her recipes and she wanted to show me. I said write it down. Well it was never a “write it down” recipe, it was whatever she had, she made it work and it was comforting. My biggest regret is never letting her show me. Now that knowledge is gone with her, and I never understood until watching this that all she really wanted was to spend time with me.
If you think this is exploitative, I feel sad for you. I hope you still get to spend time with your grandma, and I hope she is so special you can hurt someday when she is gone. Maybe a nourishing meal would make you feel better.
