  • Tallinn is a beautiful medieval city that draws in tourists from all over the world. BUT, it's not exactly known for being an affordable city.
We decided to see just how affordable Tallinn can be by challenging ourselves to do a Tallinn Cheap Food Tour where we only have a budget of €20 euros for the entire day.
Is it possible to feed two people for a day in Tallinn, Estonia for only €20 euros? Watch the video to find out!
Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe :)

Just to add some additional context from a local. Tallinn is already generally 25-50% more expensive than the other cities in Estonia, restaurant prices included. Going to eat out in malls or restaurants is a fast way to burn all that money for a few single meals, people rarely do it day-to-day, most people cook at home because groceries are pretty cheap if you don't splurge. 20€ is usually 3-5 days worth of groceries for a single student or a single pensioner, but I remember surviving and eating very well on a budget of 25€/week when I was a student.

Tallinn and Estonia is expensive! And I am saying that as a Swede, our country is expensive and prices are pretty much the same in Estonia. Which means it's a whole lot more expensive for Estonians because of the lower wages. A package of ravioli for 2.49€ or 9€ lunch deal at a restaurant, thats about what you would pay here in Sweden, too. Lower wages should equal lower prices, but sadly (for locals) that doesn't always appear to be the case. Can anyone who comes from there tell, why is it so expensive in Estonia?

CORRECTION @Jack and Gab Explore by 🇪🇪 Estonian
02:53 Not in Tallinn, you only saw Old Town.
But even in old town there's places you can get a good meal and full belly with 6.5-12 euros per person.
In Tallinn overall, midrange price is 6 to 10, in mid-high range it's 10-20 per person, also plenty of good places that you can get a good well made meal with desent portions for 4 to 8 euros per person.
Google "Ellis kohvik", it's just 2 minute walk from the main square in Old Town, good prices for nice size portions.
But yes outside 🏰Old Town the closest main place that tourists might visit is in the Solaris mall Lido, but there's many many places that offer Full good meal with 5 or less euros, most of them you need to know, but most known (that i know and also visit/get some meals) is "Kodused Toidud" next to Tallinn international Bust Station., You get a hardy meal for 4,2 and the most expencive meal/thing you can get there i think is something like 9 euros, will visit it again about 2 days from now so i can post a reply with the updated prices.
04:25 They are called "pan fried potatoes" aka. "praekartul" aka. the everyday/main food on Estonians table.
Never call them French Fries in Estonia, most get confused, some get annoyed and others have allready lost the will to live.
AKA. A normal Estonian day. ;)
Sorry if there's some strange mistakes (like on simple words and so on) as Dyslexia sometimes does that.

Some normal price malls in Tallinn are (first are closer to tourists):
Ülemiste Keskus(next to airport), Sikupilli Keskus, Kristiine Keskus, Järve Keskus, Mustamäe Keskus, Lasnamäe Centrum
There are some new, also prices change and also i do not shop a lot (male) so i only know these ones i have bought stuff from.
Last i gought some Pentagon (tactical sportswear) sturdry but city walking nice, waterproof and hardened but comfortable boots in Sikupilli from "Jahipaun" for 95 euros with 2 year Full warranty.
Before that i did some clothes shopping (2 shirts, a Columbia Omni-Tech waterproof jacket, socks and underware and so on all together cost under 80 euros) in Ülemiste.
And before that in Ülemiste i got full costom fitted clean black Suit set (down to costom suit company branded socks, even a branded suit carrying suit "bag" thing) for just under 400 euros and a pair of costom made real leather shoes(that feel like you are wearing comfortable slippers) to mach the suit for just 68 euros.
So there is many places to find good stuff in Tallinn to buy with offordable prices.

In my opinion it’s time to let Estonia be a nice small Nordic country. Estonia very deserves to be a Nordic country, because Estonia has done a lot of work, we have many smart people, we are good at digital things, we have northern lights and we are very similar to Finland and other Nordic countries like: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Greenland. We are not similar to Latvia and Lithuania and the other Eastern Europe countries. It’s time to stop calling Estonia Eastern Europe country and Baltic country and forget all this terrible, rude and mean Soviet times. Let’s just stop this Eastern Europe and Soviet stigma thing and let Estonia turn the new page and let them be a normal small Nordic country next to Sweden and Finland!!! Estonians call themselves the Nordic country and many other people and tourists had also said that Estonia should be a Nordic country, because Estonian people are Finnic people not Balts and we are more similar to Scandinavia. Yes many people had agreed with that Estonia must belong to the Nordic group and seperate from Latvia and Lithuania. They don’t even need these countries, because Estonians communicate more with Finns and other Scandinavian countries. Estonia will be a very good partner for the other Nordic countries. We will do a very great work and we will be very strong!!! 🥰🙏

Going to really expensive places to eat in the city and promoting these to naive tourists.. Wow.. This takes some attitude.. Do you ever read your own comment section? I am not from Estonia and after reading comments from locals for 2 minutes, i already know where the cheap lunch in Tallinn is.. Your local friend that as you said advised you, did not know this..??
