    Thanks for posting this. I'm driving my late parents 1994 Intrepid and it still feels special to this day. I took it to sophisticated mechanics here in SF for repairs and they were amazed at the quality of the ride/performance.... one said it reminded him of classic Mercedes! The 3.5 ES pulls far stronger than the stated 224 ft-lbs... I love the ride, better than any of the Cadillacs or Lincolns we had.

    I took my dad's 1995 Intrepid on my driver's test in 2002. Now, just a few days ago, a 1st generation Intrepid sold for $350 at a local auto auction I attended.

    Greetings. I have one of the same engine 3.3 year 96. Seeing this video gave me a very good idea. Restoring small parts of my car. Repaint it and apply that glossy finish. My car has helped many of my family to take them from one city to another, they are pleased by interior spaciousness and the smoothness of the journey. On each trip Iam always the one who drives it. That's why my relatives appreciate me. I live in Mexico, Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

    Mom & Dad bought a new, fully loaded Intrepid ES in 1997. They put over 250,000 miles on it before they finally let her go. If you take care of your car, it will last.

    I had a 1996 Chrysler LHS with the 3.5 liter. It was a great road car and had lots of interior room. It also did well on fuel economy. But so many things started to go wrong around 75,000 miles. Air conditioning, radio, tie rods, sensors, sub frame bushings, head gasket. And the headlights were lousy. I took care of it and wanted to love it. But it developed too many problems as it aged.

    They called the 3.3l V6 an overhead cam engine. It's an overhead valve. Funny how they get little details wrong in their own videos. I miss my 97 intrepid. The 3.5 was amazing, the styling was my favorite of all my cars to date, fuel mileage was decent, room was off the charts, had a good balance of ride, handling, snow traction, and the reliability was decent.

    i owned a 1996 dodge intrepid ES 3.5L V6 with no restrictor plates to limit its speed. it was the best car i've ever owned and it was over a decade old when i got it. i wish they still produced the mid 90's edition instead of the crap they made after in the 2K's

  • @weegeemike
    @weegeemike Před 2 lety +1

    These were awesome cars, if Iacocca had stuck around long enough to see them through the final release stage when small things like reliability and small parts sourcing was completed, they would have fared better in the long run. Instead, Bob Eaton took over right before their release and cut costs wherever he could, resulting in them not being very reliable in the long term.

    Dad got one in 1996. The biggest POS ever. Everything went wrong with it. Brakes, oil pump, AC, interior panels started coming off. Dash warped in the sun, read brakes literally fell apart... All before the car ever reached 75K miles.

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack Před 8 lety +7

      Those are not the fault of the car, but the owner. A car needs regular maintenance. When you live in a hot climate, the freon will be used up faster and need a charge, if you leave the car in the sun and not sheltered, the dashboard will warp, if you ride the brakes constantly, they will wear down.
      So the fault is you, not the car.

      When I was out in rural Nevada in 2006, you wouldn't find a single car that was over 10 years old that didn't have ruined clearcoat. Desert sun will totally kill the paint and plastics of a car unless you keep it maintained and cared for.

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack Před 2 lety

      @@palebeachbum Define "other cars". If you mean newer cars with modern paints that withstand heat and sun baking, that does not apply to a 30 year old car.

    Hard to believe that 214 HP was considered powerful in 1993! Of course the 400 HP 1992 Viper was more than 100 HP greater than almost every other car available at that time. Things have certainly changed
