@@BuuGz86 true, but it didnt work out with so many great champions that it becomes hard to believe that the driver is at fault. Of course vettel in 2018, but he was unbelievable in 2017 and Ferrari failed him completely.

I think it boils down to 2 things:
1. Lewis can see that Mercedes is struggling with their whole aero concept and isn't convinced that they'll be any more competitive than they were last year.
2. He realizes that he's in the twilight of his career and wants to drive for Ferrari before he misses his chance.
I think the timing suits both him and Ferrari, although I'm a bit surprised they'd let Sainz go like that, as Sainz is a very good driver. I suppose it's a question of Lewis' veteran skill and feedback versus Sainz' potential for growth as to which they think will better help the team. I feel like Lewis is the better short-term option but Sainz might be the better long-term option.

I respect the Merc era but it felt like things were getting very sour and stale over there. This is just new and exciting, honestly if Ferrari can just make a good car, not even great just good and reliable, then he can finish his career at an iconic team and on a somewhat happy note.

Nicky is gone. After his death Merc never seemed to listened to Lewis. Fred was Lewis's boss in F3, so he knows like Nicky did what he's capable of.

The talk I've heard online is that Ferrari are building the team around Leclerc, and they want rid of Sainz because he's not good at playing the role of subservient second driver. If that is the case then swapping Sainz for Hamilton is only going to make that issue worse as Hamilton certainly isn't going to go there to play second fiddle to Leclerc when he's running out of time to win an 8th title.
There is no way Hamilton joined Ferrari as a second driver although that would be hilarious if he was made second to leclerc 🤣
@@nicholas8363 that's my point here. It's hardly a secret that Ferrari have put Leclerc as their number 1 these past few years, and gave him a new contract not long ago to tie him down for the future.
They've been building the team around him, but now with Hamilton arriving what is the dynamic going to be? It's not as if Ferrari are known as a "treat both drivers equally" kind of team.

An interesting thought, The Ferrari was 2nd quickest quali car not significantly off from RedBull and Lewis has said quali isn’t his strongest point so if he moves to Ferrari to have a better Saturday and qualify higher up the grid (potential for pole or P2/P3 on a regular basis) then he can maximise Sunday and won’t get caught up in as many P6/P7 squabbles.
Hamilton on a regular day starting anywhere down the grid can easily get up to P5/P6
Hamilton in a car that can get onto the front 2 rows in Quali can win any given Sunday. 🔥🔥

I’m absolutely in that boat. Ferrari runs in my blood but I can’t stand Lewis. I’m not denying he’s one of the greatest drivers to ever race, but I hate his politics and all the drama that comes with it. I also love Sainz and I believe the Leclerc/Sainz lineup is best for long term success.

Fred has for sure solidified himself at Ferrari. Hes already surpassed his predecessor (Mattia) in what has been achieved and who he has brought into the team.
He definitely is cleaning house for sure. I just hope they can fix the tire deg issues and the strategy team problems. If they can do that then we might have something cooking here

If you think about it, this is practically parallel to what it was when Lewis joined Mercedes from McLaren. Joined Mercedes one year before the switch to the V6 Turbo Hybrids and they dominate. Now, he joins Ferrari one year before the 2026 engine changes. He sees something we don't.

The move to Ferrari mirrors his move from McLaren to Mercedes. 2013 was a year before the new design cars in 2014 and 2025 is a year before the new design cars in 2026, it could be a coincidence but I think Lewis wants to get into Ferrari early and influence the design of a super car for 2026 exactly like what happened at Mercedes 2014.
