Had a similar experience last year. Young birds avoiding raptors scattered. One ended up in Montreal 500 some miles east of me. It was fed and watered and when strong enough it came back after 3 weeks. Out of the Old red Vos, few generations removed. Same as the one in the pic. Amazing creatures pigeons!
Brilliant the homing instinct and love of her loft was the ultimate motivation I bet she never makes a mistake like that again all the time she was flying out around Portsmouth she was sorting her built in GPS out well done to both fanciers and long live your friendship and Polly
Great story, better than winning some one off race,,,,,, this is what pigeon racing is all about, that special one who defies all the odds to reach home flying over all that land and sea is very impressive, well done.
