That looks really good, love these type of altar.
Thank you! Love floating border alters
If you're willing to indulge a request, I'd love to see you try extending Plains (Ravnica: City of Guilds #287) by Stephan Martiniere, it's one of my favorite pieces of MTG art and I think it'd look amazing in full-art. Love your work!
I do paint my cards too but i prefer digital painting😊. I design full land cards then stick them on top of land cards
Oh nice! I just started getting into printing proxy stickers. Do you use a printer and sticker paper?
I have Golden Fluid Acrylics too but sometimes they don't stick to the card very well. How do I remedy this?
I put down a slightly thicker base layer to help with adhesion of paint. Some of the printings (especially more recent) have a more waxy finish that I’ve struggled more with painting
@@pokefairyrose Modern Masters 2 and starter decks tend to have that waxy coating. As for a base layer do you recommend gesso or just use the color you want the final paint to be?
I’ve just been using the same acrylics. A grey/white that has good coverage. Especially for matching bright colors, easier to have a lighter base.
Do you always start with a grey base or is it determined by the art piece?
Depends a bit on the card and how bright the colors are. Easier to color match with a lighter base.
@pokefairyrose thanks. One of the issues I have is if I try to go right for the color match before base coating, it often requires so many coats of paint. Some card stocks are also very poor, looking at you commander legends...
Omg some newer sets have the worst waxy finish for painting. But yeah, really helps to have a base layer for color matching! The trick is keeping the layer thin, but still full coverage. That’s why I tend to mix a titanium white and carbon black.
@pokefairyrose I've been using an eraser to prep the surface for paint. Seems to grab better and since I'm top coating afterwards it doesnt show a sheen difference
