    It was an incredibly fast gearbox for that time...

      Even nowadays, at least myself I don't appreciate really a difference with some of the current fast automatic gearboxes

    I think that the combination of the 1st gen dsg and 1.9 tdi makes this golf a very nice car, the engine might outlast the gearbox but 1st gen dsg was actually pretty good. And it sure isn’t slow at changing gears!

    Those blue and red dashboard lights truly made the best ambiance. I wish VW would bring it back and turn away from the super generic white LEDs nearly all cars have nowadays. Cars have no character anymore, this one still has it.

    The performance are very good, looks like a 2.0 tdi 140ps as fast is it. it’s a stock 1.9? I remember that in most of the 1.9 tdi 130ps stock from factory, when they tried on dyno, they found more than 1 time 143ps against the original 130…

    consumptions are superb, with a longer gear you may achieve even better

    •  Před 8 měsíci

      To long gearing can affect consumption in a negative way

    • @iRmazz96
      @iRmazz96 Před 8 měsíci

      @ can, depend on the engine tuning, but generally now we have one or two more gear for a reason

    •  Před 8 měsíci

      @@iRmazz96 gearboxes have more gears but not necessarily longer final drive. Mostly it's a thing because of smaller drops in rpm between gears and better modularity. Mostly it's just longest one that is used as a overdrive

    • @v12-s65
      @v12-s65 Před 8 měsíci

      @ we have more gears for efficiency his argument was right. There are no performance benefits from having a 9 speed trans instead of a 7 speed one. Lower rpm equals lower consumption

    •  Před 8 měsíci

      @@v12-s65 lower rpms does not always equal to lower efficiency. If you drive in to low gear stress on the engine can be to much and ecu can supply the engine with more fuel but with no effect. Engines are more efficient at certain rpm that gearboxes with more gears can easily maintain because of smaller drops in rpm.
