  • Hello guys and welcome to 'Mattsbeamer". This is another very quick in depth video. So quick that I only had 10 minutes to film it.
    It is a Mk5 VW Golf Match 1.9 TDi which belongs to my friend from the channel 'Horlicks'. I will leave the channel link here as its hard to find his channel.

    I bought one of these around a month ago and your review was one of the deciding factors on whether to get it or not. Mine is the S model so not quite as nice an interior but still a car I'm very happy with and- I think and hope- great value for money.
    Thanks for your advice!

  • @heed17

    1.9 tdi is the last of the tank VAG engines. Wash it every week to prevent the rust, change the oil every 9k and belts every 70k and they’ll go forever. Currently on 160k in my ‘08 Bluemotion - pretty sure it could do the same again if needed 👍

    • @mattsbeamer
      @mattsbeamer  Před 3 lety

      Hey, I agree. Great engines! The owner ran it on a budget, and it still ran for miles. I hope his 2017 320d lasts for a long time. I miss old tech

      @@mattsbeamer anything post Euro 5 is destined for a 150k disposal. “They just don’t make them like they used to” although some of the VAG CRs are doing decent miles with regular oil changes. Honestly, oil changes are the key! 👍

    • @kyranoboyle3378
      @kyranoboyle3378 Před 2 lety

      Not as good as the pre 2003 1.9 Tdi’s but good engines when the maintenance is done right. Belts at 30k, oil at 4k. Use vw 505 01 spec 5w40 oil and they’ll be just as good as the older 1.9’s

    I learnt in a mk7 tdi, and passed in November 2019. Personally a fan of the golf. I grew up around toyota in my family, whilst they're good cars I'm not a fan . However being nearly 18 and broke, I plan on saving up to buy and insure a mk5 golf 1.4 petrol, then as I grow up I want to go through each generation of golf

    • @mattsbeamer
      @mattsbeamer  Před 4 lety +1

      @@mattsbeamer I hope I do get my mk5 maybe in November. Need a job but the whole corona situation needs to die down first. Can't really speak about mk2, came out before I was even born! But as a child I've grown up seeing dealers (not car dealers if you know what I mean 😉) with r32 and gti golfs. Always wanted one since a child.

      Nadim I was minus 1 when the golf mk2 came out lol.
      The only good I don’t really like is the mk3.
      I have only driven a mk6 quickly but the brakes stopped working down a steep hill. I turned the car off and one and it was good again. A bit of brown nearly appeared lol.
      Let me know when you get your golf. Oh I made a few mk7 videos on my channel. Take care

      Nadim MK5 is a great car I learned to drive in one 1.9 tdi 105 Se spec I ended up buying a 2006 1.9 tdi 105 sport 6 speed with bucket seats quite rare . Insurance is very reasonable on the tdi would be a good choice for yourself because while only having 105bhp 250nm is more than enough especially if you remap it to 150bhp 340nm

    Why are some vw cars called match?

    • @mattsbeamer
      @mattsbeamer  Před 4 lety

      Hello Annie, sorry I am slow at replying. Match is a name the trim level. There are many trim levels on the golf Mk5, in 2007 they had the S, Match, Sport, GT, GTi , R32.................
      The Match is a step up from the basic S.
      If you search 'vw golf Mk5 match 2007 brochure' it will comeup with a pdf brocure from VWs official site :)
      Good luck

      Basicially the Match is usually near run out of the model. They are a S trim level with more extras usually found in SE eg alloys, climate control etc. But still has the S main interior seats etc.
