just grateful to be living in a time where I can see and hear this. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen ❤❤
Such an absolutely phenomenal album. I desperately want another Blake and Chris project!
*Guitar tuning* of Blake Mills on *“Suchlike Horses”* is twofold:
· 0:03 The foreplay section is played with _Open E:_ [ *E B E G# B e* ].
· 2:16 The camera angle cuts, the song begins, and a new tuning appears, _Standard,_ almost: [ *E A D F B e* ].
On top of this, there is the octaver effect sending everything up 1 octave.
by the looks of his hand the intro is some open E and later when he starts singing he must switchat some point to that tuning with the pedal they're using or some other device. Pretty seamless 🤯
@@federicoblotta3127 You are absolutely right, and I edited my initial comment! I think the switch at 2:16 is just the good old video editing trick of cutting out the awkward break where they re-tune before continuing the song :P
They’re using the GP10. Wonderful device that can do a lot of things, including doing different tunings through MIDI (without you having to retune the guitar) So since it sounds more processed in the beginning, my guess is that the guitar is tuned to the tuning at 2:16 but processed to sound like open E in the beginning.
@@jonasgravlund9056 Oh my, this is the best input so far! :D Thank you!
@@PlayLikeTheGreatscom You're welcome! Can't be a 100 % sure it's correct, but I think that's what it is. You can see Blake switch at the transistion. He's also using it to blend in octaves during "Unsingable" and stuff. Pretty cool!
"Unsingable" - with the fretless - is absolutely absurd!
Yess!! Finally love you blake and chris!! Been a long time fan now!
Stunning, I love this record so much.
Come to the netherlands!
funzy wunzy was a bear. Melodious tapioca.....love your creativity. music has no rules. Do an album with ENO.
I’ve seen a lot of weird guitars, but that first one (the Rolf) is *wild*
Reminds me of how he sounds on the soundtrack theme to the show Horses. Awesome
god I love unsingable
It's just incredible.
It's the track I keep coming back to. The howl of that fretless is irresistible.
Música sin fronteras!
That fret less is rad
Built by Duncan Price! instagram.com/diskobebe/
Way to give that enigma of a man the deserving shout out, the collab between him and Blake is beyond an inspiration.!
damn.
Cheers! I had seen the name but never heard this guy before.
With his masculine, yet vulnerable voice, and willingness to experiment with textural guitar, he reminds me a lot of the late great legendary John Martyn.

I miss the coodercaster
It is g weller

Everything he does…
wish we could hear it without all the nasty sounding octave pedal effects
Weird for the sake of being weird
I wouldn't considered that weird at all.
@vintagepopesnightmares And what do you listen to ?
@@daniellomax6075 Robben Ford , Mike Landau . Howling Wolf, Son House. Pavarotti, classical music. Miles Davis, Charles Mingus 🤷♂️
Man I've tried to get into Blake's new stuff but it's tough lol
“What is going too far and what is not? What’s dignified? What’s just a pose? Anybody knows. What can make a song unbearable?”
Listen up. I think he’s talking to you:)
