  • After installing an aluminum Kirkey seat into our C5 Corvette Z06, we tailored it to fit with a custom foam insert.

Very similar to the Kirkey instructional video, except they say to put the sheet foam in the bag with the poured foam so they integrate better, and also to lift your butt off the seat as you pour the foam so you get a better mold of the glutes and thighs to lock you in better. It also distributes the pressure on those areas to prevent pinching and pressure points. By doing that you can actually make a seat that can be used to drive your race car across the country from one race venue to the next as in a race week or One Lap Around America situation.
It also works to make your office chair more comfortable by eliminating pressure points, if you want to make a mold for that.

So I watched another video. I believe you should have lifted up when the foam was poured to get the foam down to the leg areas.

    Is the foam fire rated?

Can you please link to a site where I can buy that carbonx fabric. Preferably in Canada if possible.

Hi, how much of part A and part B is required to create the foam seat insert. How much was it in the bucket? :)

    1. I understand that for filming requirements it might have been better to have the seat out of the car. Do you think optimal fit would be to do this with the seat in the car, or is that overkill? Have you driven the car since the install?
    2. Interesting note on the spillage factor. I was planning to make mine with the race suit and HANS on. Duly (or dully) noted.

It would properly be a 100 times easier to have the seat out of the car.

Why wouldn't you wear the equivalent of your racing suit?
