    Since he’s been on the leafs Zack hymen has been my favourite player. Guy grinds, kills penalties, scores goals and supports the big guns. One of the most underrated players.

    Zach Hyman is a BEAST... by far my favourite player on the team... He reminds me of my favourite hockey player of all time Dave Andreychuk... I remember last season or the season before when the Leafs were playing the New York Rangers and Zach Hyman went behind the net to get a puck and three rangers players jumped him and who comes up with the puck passes it up front to Matthews to score but none other than Zach Hyman himself... We need at least two more like him

    • @ZzCanonBull
      @ZzCanonBull Před 4 lety

      @betterdays I compare them to the fact that both were willing to take on the work horse role....Zach will go into the corners with multiple opposing players and work his ass off to get the puck...Andreychuck stood in arguably the hardest place on the ice surface (the front of the opposing net) and took beating after beating to get the job done...I realize that skating ability Hyman is far superior as well as almost every other metric...but Andreychuck worked harder than almost every other player on his team...just like Hyman

    Zach Freaking Hyman now that's a guy who should be getting payed guy is a Tank

  • @MrBO55
    @MrBO55 Před 4 lety +17

    Every good line needs a gritty guy who will go into the corner and get the puck, or take a hit to make a play and that's what makes the line succeed. If you think of all the top lines in the NHL, each one has that gritty guy who is severely underrated. When you put a guy who plays the game the right way along with 2 guys who have insane talent, you get a superstar line.
    Mackinnon and Rantanen have Landeskog, Backstrom and Ovechkin have Wilson, Pastrnak and Marchand have Bergeron, Matthews and Marner have Hyman.

      SPOT ON

    • @SchulzEricT
      @SchulzEricT Před 4 lety

      I call them "complementary" players; they do a lot of things well and, in context, they can be 1st liners even if you think they aren't, in a vacuum, top line players.
      (Bill Simmons likes calling those guys "glue guys", which can be thought of as denigrating them as merely role players, but he means in the way that he can fit in and connect the rest of the players in the lineup/line.)
      I'm a Caps fan; your example of Wilson is spot-on (he's very fast, has a heavy shot, and he's developing into not just a smart passer - as he's been for the last few seasons - but a really nifty passer too), although Oshie is also a phenomenal example of a player who can do it all.
      Mike Knuble is the platonic ideal in many Caps fans' minds.

    • @TheLarknessMonster
      @TheLarknessMonster Před 4 lety

      You need to realize MacKinnon, Pasta, Backstrom all play a more gritty physical game than do Matthews or Marner. Then Ovi is just as physical as Wilson, Ovi just is also one of the greatest goal scorers of all time as well. Matthews and Marner are talented no doubt, but they sit back and expect the puck to magically come to them. It's one of the main reasons Toronto probably is going to miss the playoffs. Bergeron isn't a gritty player either, pasta is more physical than him.

    I remember some "hockey pundits" complaining about this guy playing with Mathews a few years ago. Real hockey fans always saw the work ethic and loved him for it. Toronto fans are famous for loving hard work and toughness over skill. When you combine that in the form of Wendel or Roberts, instant star in the city.

  • @Michael-pg7rv
    @Michael-pg7rv Před 4 lety +1

    Leafs should offer him an extension now. I think he would take a cheap team friendly contract considering how much love he has got from his teammates, the fans, the fact that he is from Toronto and how well the medical staff has treated him through his injury. 2 year extension 6M lets do it.

    Hey look we can all appreciate a guy who does the dirty work, but plz take a look at the list of players you're comparing him to(GPG), when those players are on the ice THEY are the focus of the other team's D (and forwards)...with all due respect Hyman isnt even the 2nd focus on his own line so....the comparison is nice and all but we see the difference, he should simply be appreciated for what he does best instead of trying to compare him to star players unfairly
