What needs to be factored in for the overall box office for Kung-fu Panda 4 is that it doesn't have a simultaneous International release - in fact, most major overseas markets will be showing it from weekends from 14th March (Germany) to 28th March (e.g. UK, Australia). That means the 'opening weekend' of the film will show quite a low International number on this coming Sunday / Monday. As such, it'll be probably difficult to call for the final total.
I also suspect that Dune pt 2 won't do as well as many have predicted, because the first film was, in my view (and many others, even scifi / fantasy fans) overly long and drawn out - even boring at times. I only gave the first film (I saw it on IMax) a 3/5- I'm still unsure whether I'm going to see the second. A good number of people who I know saw the first film at the cinema will be giving the second one a miss for the same reasons I marked the first one down.
Best of luck with The Ravens tomorrow - being in the UK, the podcast will be starting rather late for me (11.30pm), so I may only drop in for 30 minutes. Hopefully Sound of Freedom will do well, as I suspect it won't get a look in at the Oscars.

One thing to point out for the daily North American box office comparison between Dune2 and Oppenheimer is that the former opened in early Spring and the latter in the summer, when, from my experience, there is less of a difference between the weekend (Fri-Sun) and weekday (Mon-Thu) box office totals. With the better weather and holiday season comes more people going out to cinemas on weekdays and earlier in the day, especially when it can be cheaper to do so.
That being said, I think that Oppenheimer's lead will start to widen. I think it was a film that also appealed to women and couples, whereas Dune is much more hardcore scifi and thus will likely be more the preserve of men and scifi fans in particular, and who will watch the film multiple times.

Dune is a space fantasy with a tiny amount of Sci-Fi. It's hardcore drug induced psychosis but nothing special.
I think everyone would be happy if Dune reached at least the 700M mark, they don´t need to reach Oppenheimer numbers to be a big hit. I´m hoping the movie does well, its so rare for us to see quality movies these days.

I really enjoyed the first panda movie and then ? I don’t know I’ve never seen or had any desire to see the other movies , being the first kid powered friendly movie in a while I expect this to open well and perform very well over the Easter period despite the big releases on the horizon
Thanks for the shout out! I think beyond appealing to Catholics I think it will be very appealing to Christian women. Also, I believe someone gifted them $50 million to make this movie so I think they only had to spend on advertising.
Yeah plus generally speaking faith based movies draw in a larger female audience on average.
If you think 4 movies are excessive, look up all the episodes made for King Fu Panda across multiple streaming/tv series. They arr milking the franchise, Skadoosh.
I doubt it will be as good a sequel as Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. But Dreamworks does better than most Disney sequels.
One of the few solid weeks on 2024, thanks to those strikes.
