      Interesting that you chose to compare Dune to Openhiemer instead of Guardians of the Galaxy, which I feel might make a better comparison. Enjoy the content as always.

    Dune 2 was awesome, not perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I don't envision it reaching over $900 million like Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer benefited from the Barbenheimer cultural event, Dune 2 could get there with its high audience score/WOM, and minimal competition but I really doubt it . Dune is also some pretty heavy going sci fi, which rarely win over mainstream audiences on a large scale, sadly.

      @@anthonylogiudice9215 It probably won't. Already lost over $8,000,000 in two weekdays compared to oppenheimer.
      It's just as pretentious and boring but doesn't have Barbie to give it a boost. Lucky to break $700,000,000.

    Really enjoyed Dune 2. I think it's much better than Dune 1 or Oppemheimer. I dont think it will pass Oppemheimer BO though.
    I would say 190m budget was pretty well spent, definitely could see it on screen. Just wondering how the Hell is joker 2 budget can be 200m?😅

    It did better than expected and I don't think that Kun Fu Panda 4 will do any damage to Dune. I don't see this movie to do a Billion dollars. It could benefit GxK and do I see the hype building for that film but....its really come down to budget and WOM.

    i guess i just won't get "barbenheimer" nothing to do with each other imo. still haven't seen either. mostly because i've been disappointed with nolan's recent efforts and subject matter for both aren't my thing. i think that this movie, combined as a whole with pt1, raises denis to nolan's level. i actually enjoy denis' more simple, more traditional approach to films. cinematography!, efficient dialogue, a fluid, flowing pace, appropriate sound design, and very important... easy to watch. i'm tired of having to make flow charts for every movie christopher. ;)

    I saw Dune: Part Two in IMAX. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Out of the returning characters, really enjoyed Zendaya's performance. Out of the new characters, Austin Butler and Christopher Walken's performances were my favorites. I didn't feel the run time like I have some other films of that runtime. Overall, really enjoyed my time in the theater.

    Does Dune have the fan base to get it to 900M? I don’t feel like it does because sy-fy hasn’t been as interesting the past 20 years. Generic Marvel and Disney Star Wars crap has dumbed down audiences.

    • @theglanconer6463

      Good question, I fear the same. Then again the Battlestar Galactica series was incredibly populair (but fair is fair that was years ago). I fear that Dune will perhaps be too ' difficult' for the generic Marvel/Swifties fan. Then again I was very, very surprised about the Oppenheimer numbers so fingers crossed. That said Dune 1 did brillliantly in Europe (third most watched movie that year in my country after a Dutch movie and James Bond).

  • @theglanconer6463
    @theglanconer6463 Před 4 měsíci

    I hope Dune 2 will do Oppenheimer numbers. It's more or less the same crowd and the cinemas need the grown-ups back who deserted the cinema after the rise of the woke religion and the superhero (Themepark) Age. They need the mature audience (which includes hundreds of millions of teens) back in the seats simply to be able to survive. The 15-year old dry spell needs to end.
    That said; it has become incredibly expensive and most adults have switched to (unfortunately increasingly woke) series but they have to support old school/mature movies like Maverick, Oppenheimer, The Northman, the Banshees of Inisherin, Sound of Freedom, Dune etc to revive the cinema and take it back from the themepark goers and DEI-activists (or stop complaining).
