Even with the scale of Iwo Jima shrunk down in BF5 the map still looks colossal, I can’t imagine what an American soldier would’ve seen when standing on the summit.
I was watching a documentary on Iwo Jima last week and it was truly horrific, The Japanese ended up having to eat coal and the Americans flooded the caves as the Japanese had orders to stand their ground and fight to the last man, and some casualties where Japanese soldiers being crushed by tanks as they hid among dead bodies.
It upsets me that the guns are the same through every faction. I want a realistic ww2 experience and it doesnt make sense when a japanese soldier is using an stg44 on iwo jima. Anyone else feel this way?
No it infuriates me to no end. Weapons should be faction locked and please get rid of the stupid sights and use iron sights like they did in the real world.

My Great Grandpa King was a Marine Corsair pilot and fought over Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, ect. What a hell hole the Pacific was. He’s 95 and still tells me all his stories of the war. Hearing of Kamikazes ramming into an American destroyer, him taking aircraft off of a damaged escort carrier, him being told where he would’ve attacked if operation “Downfall” commenced.
I want to see more factions!, in every ww2 game there's always the same. I would like to see: Italy Poland Greece Hungary China France Finland Senegal South afica Filipin Holland Birmania.
DICE left out the biggest theater of the war! From 1940-1944, the British & Americans barely tickled Hitler. The Eastern Front WAS WWII, put simply. I mean 30Ma deaths in total, how could that not deserve any representaion? American & British deaths *combined* didn't even reach 1 million.
What torso has the smoke grenade right on your left shoulder? Also Iwo Jima had little vegetation until after the battle; the Navy dropped seeds on the island to make it green after the battle.

The pacific storm map reminds me of the battle of scarif in Star Wars rogue one. The tropical setting, the series of small islands, soldiers running through the water. It is a lot like Star Wars
The large mountain on Pacific Storm appears to resemble either the island known as South Iwo Jima or the island known as North Iwo Jima. It has almost the exact same shape as those two islands.
Interestingly in real life, the Japanese allowed the marines get on the beach unopposed, then when they moved up the beach a few hundred meters, then they opened fire. This was because their weapons were deadlier at closer range.

The Japanese let the Marines get to the shore for about an hour and then when then Marines settled, the Japanese opened up with every possible gun facing the Marines. Marines said that getting shot was as likely as walking through a rainstorm without getting wet when they landed. It was a horrific bloodbath.
@@kathulemerald8000 I know this comment is 2 years old now, but I will stil reply, they actually did do this they waited till I think 2 or 3 waves maybe less I'm not sure, but they waited until they got somewhat off the beach and as more marines were coming up in large numbers an order was Gave and all guns focused on the beach, opened up in one Hellish rain, this battle to me would have been worse than even Normandy in terms of sheer shock of the first moment's, you had I think hundred of soldiers on that beach at once if not more, and every artillery piece, every machine gun, every pill box, etc that can see that beach best believe it's zeroed in and in seconds every single piece roars to life non stop, one dies, he gets replaced in seconds, egypt damaged?? Replace it to, a tunnel you cleared is no longer clear, etc the Japanese well it was Genius on their part, sadly at the cost of so many lives on both sides.

The first one was but up but they didnt take the photo of that so they told them to but a different one up which is the iconic photo, but when the second one was but up it was not all the same people as the first so yea. And also that was just day 5.

@@bardocomunista In actuality, after the Navy shelled the island for about a week with constant fires burning and volcanic Ash being thrown up by the massive bombardment it wasn't uncommon for the sky to be choked with brown grey and black smoke so it wouldn't be very sunny and colourful like in the game. Also, Iwo Jima looked arguably worse than no man's land. Nothing but grey volcanic ash, dirt and rocks with burned up vegetation everywhere.

Iwo Jima should be depicted as a smoldering shell-pocked wasteland, not a beautiful field of rolling green grass. This is why I don't count on Swedish studios to do any kind of WWII battles justice. Also, way to distract from the topic of the video by bringing up climate change.
During the battle, Iwo honestly looked like the surface of the moon in many areas. Nothing but greyish-brown dirt, tan coloured rocks and black sand. What little vegetation remained was mostly charred black and was broken.
And... I have a bad feeling that they’re making such a mess of bfv with their incompetence and beyond terrible decision making they’re pushing to go back to the premium pass model and it may be by design because you cannot be a company with the industry knowledge dive and ea have and consistently make such inexplicably stupid decisions!
I have to correct you it was not just marines in the flag raising photo it includes navy corpsman too and the photo you see is actually the second raising of the flag the first wasn’t photographed so they had them do it again with a bigger flag for propaganda

While the Runit Done is an issue, it isn't on Iwo, it's on Eniwetok. Also rising water levels isn't an issue for Iwo Jima at all since it's a volcano and experiences volcanic uplift constantly. The landing beaches are 50+ higher above sea level than they were during WW2.

Acclimatising I’m 4.6 and the patch hasn’t really changed my gameplay but it’s changing the flow of the game completely. It’s kind of hilarious upsetting when you need to dump a whole mag on someone whose 25+ meters away now.. after a year of being used to the ttk this just feels unnatural
