    I'm a Texan and I'd Love to have the Ōdzutsu; it's my absolute Favorite Japanese matchlock gun.
    The Japanese made a lot of improvements and new designs in firearms in this era and I can imagine what something like an Ōdzutsu would have done in European battlefields. Using it like a handheld swivel gun, firing buckshot would have been devastating.

      @@Rainierverse youtube censored my reply! But of course, they are The Enemy.
      Of course! Having them makes a country harder to invade. Look what the Viet Minh/Viet Cong did for Vietnam. Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan, South Korea, any of the Southeast Asian nations, would do well to have a 2nd Amendment of their own. Having one would make China, or any other potential invader, think twice before attacking. H

      @@Rainierverse The Japanese love the sword. I see no issues with this. An armed society is better able to protect itself from inner, and outer, threats. Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, all of them would be better able to defend themselves if they were.
      The "ministry of truth" at yt keeps censoring my comments so it's difficult to respond. I'd be surprised if this response isn't censored as well. H

    Dear friends, I have an old teppo, 130 cm long, 12.5 mm bore, Hormady 480 round balls with patch, 2.8 grams of Swiss black powder n. 3, but when I shoot I'm always afraid. Black powder and fuse don't get along. I miss the Samurai armor, but it, in Italy, costs around € 40,000..... even if you shoot blanks, I recommend you to use glasses to protect yourself. Saluti dal Tiro a Segno Nazionale di Milano, ciao

    Pretty light cannon if it only needs one guy to move it. In the slow mode, you can actually see the sonic boom.

      Guns were introduced to Japan by Portuguese adventurers who were shipwrecked near the shore of Tanegashima, a small island south of Kyushu, in 1543. Matchlock pistols and guns modeled on the imported weapons began to be made in Japan and were an important feature of battles during the 1570s and 1580s.

      There's a reason why no European power invade Japan at that time because they were able to produce their own matchlocks.

      @muhamadsayyidabidin3906 Před 2 lety +2

      @@jonaspete IIRC large part of Asia (both continental and maritime) were already using firearm when the exploration era began. So it's certainly not because firearm western power decided not to mess with the Japanese. It probably because Japanese has just been united under one banner, so a colonization idea is dumb to say the least. Colonization works when you're separated into tiny petty States, not when you're united. Why would you take the huge risk of taking a united nation, where tiny little states were plenty elsewhere? Even if you succeed in subjugating it, it would drain your treasury empty.

      In fact, during the Warring States period, Japan had the largest possession of firearms in the world.
