@@Rainierverse The Japanese love the sword. I see no issues with this. An armed society is better able to protect itself from inner, and outer, threats. Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, all of them would be better able to defend themselves if they were. The "ministry of truth" at yt keeps censoring my comments so it's difficult to respond. Slightly higher firing position for slightly longer range? Either that or purely ceremonial. Or maybe it's a psychological war thing. Perhaps they do the exaggerated movements so you can tell what they're doing from afar, enemies familiar would be like "Oh shit they're about to start shooting us" and freak out. Kind of like if you saw a bunch of archers on a hill all draw back their bow and aim at 45 degree angles, you know what's coming next.

That's the proper stance for O-zutsu or high caliber matchlock musket. Due to larger charge and flash leakage through priming hole, it is unsafe to shoot the musket at eye level. So, proper way to shoot O-zutsu is with the gun at chest level or above the eyes.
