    If your results are accurate and match the production models, it would be yet another disappointment from Toyota. The hybrid seems to provide no noticeable difference vs. the non-hybrid other than the 2400w power capability.
    If it barely increases power, barely gains any real difference in fuel efficiency, and kills all additional storage space, along with complicating the maintenance, what is the point of this?

    • @jeffw8432

      That's why I bought the NON-Hybrid Limited. What's the point.

    A minor issue with your discussion. You said the SR5 comes with leaf springs. The double cab SR5 comes with the coil spring five-link rear suspension.

    I'd be curious what a dyno run would show, parasitic loss being taken into consideration. Now I can't wait to see a production truck test.

      Just to add I had those type wheels on a ram and you could never get those to
      Shine once the brake dust touches them and susceptible to cracks & chrome flaking off . Why they didn’t put polished alloy wheels on it is just finding a way to make more $$$ off customers

    What was not said was the expected MSRP of the hyrbid model. Most likely more expensive. With all of the downsides, not a good buy. I would have expected more from a pre-production high-end model. Like buying a Lexus vs a Camry.

    What most people dont realize about hybrids is your not getting those peak power numbers all the time. Also, when the battieries are low, get used to the gas motor doing all the work. Theres no way that small battery can charge fast enough to provide full power all the time. Worse, once that battery charges, it discharges even faster.

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  Před měsícem +2

      Very valid points. Just for some clarification, the hybrid battery was at an indicated 70% charge at the time of this test.

    • @marklihsu
      @marklihsu Před měsícem +1

      Yup been saying that for months as I actually own a hybrid truck. Don’t expect the battery to do much. Once it’s out of juice you’re sol. Better off with a turbo 6

    The manual transmission is having some severe problems. Probably best not to buy one. Truck King destroyed one. Toyota claims user error. Said they accidentally shifted from fifth to first instead of third. I believe there’s other incidents of this happening.

    The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a Let Down.
    Have to turn on Air Conditioning, every Start.
    Not Easy to Get Fuel Economy, and Maintain a Steady Speed, Non Hybrid
    Turbo doesn’t Engage, unless You Really Get On It.
    It’s Very Nagging.
    Auto on-Off is Annoying
    Set in a Driving mode, other than Normal or Eco, won’t Retain that for Next Restart.
    Finding or Going through, displays, such as, tire pressure, compass, Vehicle Attitude, Etc, is
    LABORIOUS.
    Tuning Radio is also LABORIOUS.
    Passenger Side, Fwd Grab Handle is Small difficult for Use.
    Other Passengers Side Handle is
    Better, but Hidden or Inconspicuous, Adding to Difficulty of Use.
    Charging Ports in Front, Are Difficult to Access, because of Design, Lots of Cheap, Crapy, Plastic In Cab Fences, Hindering Use.
    No Navigation, Independent of Owners Phone.
    18 Gallon Fuel Tank
    4 Cylinder, Turbo? The Turbo, might as well not be there Half the time.
    It’s an ok Vehicle, but Not Compared to the Previous One
