- Hey people
Here I enter 2022 with a bang. This video is probably the most hard-worked video by me. A lot of information and solid video editing - all done by me. A lot of people wanted to know if its worth moving to the US as a Software engineer. I have tried to add as much information as I could. The decision is yours to make.

Very informative ❤️🙌.

You have some great talent in video editing. Great stuff!
This is by far the most genuine view point I got about migrating to US for sde job.
Living abroad even if it is for small time is defineltey worth it. It opens your mind, change your perspective. You should trade your little home comfort especially when you are young. It's not just about saving money. If you get a chance then go for it, because you'll always have an option to come back to India.

U r not considering a lot of things my friend! Not easy to reverse anything when u have ur family and kids. ( Then it's not according to your decision). I have lived in both the countries- the major drawback in the US is NOT HAVING HELP WHILE U R IN DISTRESS!!!. and it's a HUGEEEEEEEEE THING . ONE CAN ONLY UNDERSTAND THIS IF HE/SHE IS IN THAT PERTICULAR SHOE. If you are having just a little health issue, life would be hell for u as u have to do ur daily job and noone is here to help u.

One thing to remember is that savings can be directly converted to INR only works if you plan to come back to India. Otherwise savings need to benchmarked to the levels in USA. The bar to get into the top 1 percent is very high in US compared to India.
Absolutely!
@@100GB I feel the basic premise of the calculation is wrong. Ideally the base salary in US should be compared with total salary including stocks in India as he will be getting those in India. Then your 4x saving will reduce by a factor of 2.
@@preetamkg Good point. Actually, I get those over here as well. I wanted to keep them away for
- simplicity
- a couple other companies don't offer stocks.
- stocks being very dynamic (especially these days 😕)

Staying in USA is expensive compared to India. We stayed in NY for 2 years. Even with a high paying job we couldn’t afford a househelp & had to do everything by ourselves. Whereas India main aramse we can hire cook, maid, driver and get our work done. Asli luxury India main hai.👌

Good information to think ourself when we dream onsite
Awesome video. Thank you for the info. I want to know is Google really worth the efforts it takes to get into? Or are other companies equally good considering they may not have as big of a brand name as Google?
I think we can reach at top positions only if we are living in US, being in india its little difficult. So for a dedicated and hardworking man it is a major thing as salary hike is quite drastic.
Sir ! Intro 🔥
Thanks. And what about the remaining video?
I accidentally saw your channel in you tube, informative, your body build/communication looks similar to your CEO, now in US, keep rocking.
Dude, I randomly found ur video on my home page n I just click.. now I watched about 3-4 videos back to back😂 really interesting ❤️👍
The savings that you showed is high if you were to spend them in India, but not so if you spend the savings in US. The PPP factor comes in there as well.
Hoping to pass my interviews :) . Completed onsite round(was fun and amazing experience), just waiting for the feedback and result on if I passed or not.
All the best man! I hope u make it
In the current Indian Government since 2014 the IT sector is growing fast in India and companies are already paying quality deepens on skills , yes Google Microsoft apple Tesla amazon HQ are not in India so unless you want to be a part of the core team(open soon in India) or want to become a CEO or you are just following others for moving to US trends its better to live in India with good skill sets . The savings are 3X in US but if you permanent live there then again you will have the same ration of purchasing power or even less as India is cheaper(much cheaper). This video is great will all economic details.
Hope i get a similar one (not from you but from anywhere on the internet) on moving from India to the UK
Happy new year bai
Same to you
Hey Gaurav,I have google interview coming up.I practiced only leetcode not competitive coding [for SDE2 L4 level role].Is CP required for google
Hey Dude, your content is awesome!
Any tips for GCA!
This is not the usecase. In india, there are companies who are paying around 3 lakhs for around SDE2 level positions. Also I think there are increasing good opportunities in India also.
Hi, You haven't talked about mandatory retirement deductions like 401k, which can't be withdrawn before you turn 59, even if you move back to India
Yes, didn't talk about it and a few other things. I didn't even mention PPF and everything for Indian salary. Wanted to keep the video short :)
Will create a dedicated video on 'salary' and 'savings' and then will cover all of this in detail :).
Even clothing/lifestyle, gadgets , net plans many more 🙃
@@mitpatel6100 i think all of that is totally person dependent. As for my lifestyle, clothing is literally '0'.
401k can be withdrawn if we change jobs
@@1Bond007 401k can be transferred to new employer, it can't be cashed out and taken to your bank account without paying penalty and income tax if applicable, before eligible age which I assume is 59
I would say if people put efforts half that they would in US, India is pretty livable.. you can get decent job, 10lpa+ easily with upskilling in couple months.. facilities are better if you have money, that would be the same case in US as well..
Xbox and all attract import duties that's y they are costly.. but it is coming down.. i purchased iphone 12 128gb at 50k inr last yr.. things are getting better in india.. plus you get to enjoy all the festivals, which i can't live without.. especially Holi Diwali.. they are family get together time..

thank you bhai. i also dont want to leave india. par jab ghar kharid ne ki baat aati hai then there no other option. it is very hard to pay emi for home for 10-15 years

Thanks
Genuinely said but sometimes families insist sending their kids as they don’t have enough finances to further fund even basic job based education . So eventually it’s a money game if you aren’t confident in India that you will be able to buy a place to live and enjoy basic aspects of life with the salary. One should plan a move. As the same support system gets very cruel if you aren’t successful in India.
See you soon in US☺️
Hi, can you share your thoughts on whether one should do MS to reach the US? Or internal transfer is equivalent or better option. The aim is just to reach US.
If the aim is to do job just for 5 years in the US then internal transfer is the best option hands down!
Because you don't need to spend in the US and be in debt for the education.
If the aim is for a long term job, internal transfer will just give u 5 years. Now it's your luck to get selected in H1B lottery and extend beyond 5 years.
But with masters, you will get some preference in H1B lottery!
@@100GB Thanks for the reply. Don't people(who don't do masters) get the visa normally? Please let us know if you have any stats or any information on how it is normally out there. Thanks
@@michelledilbert9380 They have student visa. After getting the job, they eventually need to get the H1B. Which means they have to go through the lottery process. But there is a separate queue for those who have done masters in the US.
@@100GB Hi, I think you misread my Q. I am interested in knowing about the "non-master" working professions who go to US via internal transfer. Don't they usually get the extension? L1 visa is for 5 years so it needs to be converted to H1B right?
I assume L1 can be converted to a GC directly without going through H1B. L1 and H1B are both employment based non immigrant visas

India 🚩
Were you still getting the stocks at the Indian level , will they be revised as per the Usa standards later?
No `revision`. But whenever you get the stocks next time, you will get according to your US salary.
Xbox and all electronics are expensive in india due to custom duty
All things which are produced in domestic market of a country are cheaper not only food, real estate.
But still it is worth it. After coming to india you will be more richer relatively.
Yes
Thats the only reason even the non-permanent settlers still come to the US :P.
It was not you sir but your wife making tea hehe btw love your videos 😜 give her due credit as well!!!!
bro with living in USA and working for a company .....does the visa allows to run a strartup parallelly in USA while doing the job ....as i am interested in starting up a company and move to USA ...so i asked the question
No. L1 visa does not!
Hi Sir,
How much years of experience to take transfer to USA and is it possible for a engineer to move in USA from India
Video making shots is good
Sir just wanted to ask It is hard to switch jobs once you are working in a particular company for 2-3 years?
Not really!
What you said is good. But you will feel good to stay in USA after 45 age. because it’s hard to find better job in India after this age unless you have exceptional skills. But you can survive in USA with average skills without retirement age limit.
badhiya insaan ho bhai , kabhi google me hua to milunga :)
Bhaiya If we apply for a job as software engineer from L1 visa after extension we can stay more in usa and can we get citizenship in usa after getting H1B visa pls pls reply
How did you move your all eletronic product(pc, laptop, gadgets) from India?
I moved just the desktop (which is pretty small and can be carried) + keyboard. Bought monitor, chair, table here
If I am able to afford a hellcat...I'm definitely going to USA
Quite a motivation there :P
@@100GB 🥴

Can we change organizations after transferring from india. I mean if one transfera from amazon infia to usa then after few years can he change and go to google?
How easy is to get internal transfer to other countries like canada,Germany etc as compared to us in tech giants like Google, Amazon,Facebook etc.
will you come back just asking becoz i am also going to usa next year .......but i have decided to come back after like 6 to 7 years to contribute and tbh i want. to start my own start-up.
I don't think its about money or saving that much which in any case going to be higher.
Its more about moving to a developed country and hoping to settle down there permanently and live a much better and peaceful life. Btw you don't convert USD to Indian rupees when you compare things, that's not how it works.
Yeah, it can actually depend!
For example, if you want to achieve financial independence in the US, it's very hard because you would need to save multi million dollars which is actually not possible with a job.
However if u wanna achieve it in India, earning in the US helps.
If the purpose is just to live in a developed country to have a better and peaceful life (debatable), it is fine to think about long term.
Life here is not really that comfortable as far as married life (without kids) is concerned. There are pros and cons and hence some trade-offs have to be made.
I had one question regarding the studies (qualification) and how to become software engineer or how to enter into the software company jobs and how we can move from India to abroad ..which companies are hiring...please make a video on that.....
How easy/ difficult is it to switch locations internally in google?
Fairly easy provided there is an opening!
Hey Gaurav,
I found the video really helpful. You talked about the actual salary numbers which a lot of people shy away from doing. You are indeed a great person!
I had a question-
What Visa type did you move to the US on? H1B or L1B?
L1b
one more plus point is yu are earning in USDT in long term it is good hedge against INR,so if you are coming back to India after let's say 5-6 years then that USDT earnings will have more value than now in INR
Yeah. But u miss out on the Indian interest rates 😂
@@100GB Why to worry when you got Bitcoin haha
Can you add calculation if one shifts to usa with the dependent spouse
i would say work in usa , get the company's valuable stocks and then come back to india and sell them
or you can stay there and keep pumping the stocks into indian market.
Even that is good though. I excluded stocks because there is a huge difference between stocks across companies. So skipped it.
Will maybe create a detailed video on stocks later.
Brother, On which visa you moved to US? because with H1B its totally on luck and very difficult and with L1 you need to show some expertise in skills.
East or west India is the best . Now a days in India u can even save more compare to usa .
Hey Gaurav, straight question : is it worth it for you to stay permanently in US ? if so please let us know your reasons as well. Thank You
I really don't know man! There a lot of factors. I personally am not inclined to stay permanently in the US as most of my friends and all my family are in India.
Can you please talk about how google offers Transform to abroad countries?
Overall nice video !! But you are only showing these numbers from freshers perspective, for taking internal transfer to US in most companies I think you have to work for atleast few years then only you can apply for an internal transfer. And for that level salary is much higher. I have few close friends who are working in US after internal transfer and their annual salary is around 250-300k. So all calculations shown in the video will be different in that case. I am just raising a point. Your videos are awesome !! 😄
Yes and No.
For internal transfers to US one has to work in the Indian company for atleast an year.
And yes, I compared the fresher level of India with the fresher level of the US. Even for higher levels the scale (~4x) almost remains the same but yes one ends up saving more.
FYI, I didn't consider stocks because they vary a lot from company to company!
Are there any other ways for freshers for getting visa sponsered by company except joining here in India and then asking for relocation and also except Masters in US ?
No bro. I don't think if there is any other way.
@@100GB Well it would be easier for other countries then. Because of immigration laws...
@@100GB Then how do tech giants hire freshers from IITs ? Don't they face immigration issues then ?
@@anantyadav5382 For US, I am not sure what happens. I personally know 2 people and they indeed faced visa problem and eventually they worked in India office for an year and then moved to the US.
