The real reason he didn't cast this year's worlds:
The reason Faker has so much impact on T1's performance is that his playstyle is adapted to max out his team's performance.
How he does that:
1. He plays aggressive/doesn`t play safe even when there's no vision, giving allies more space to play aggressive.
He's already well known for not being killed easily, and even if you gank him and bring him down, other lanes often makes adventages out of it by palying aggresive
2. He often plays to lure out oponents key resources or postioning
Like trading ults, SS, kills or simply positioning where he can be vulnerable but which will also make oponent vulnerable if they go for him.
There are some obvious moments like when he jumped forward as Tristana and died, but by doing so he forced tf to be continued in a way T1 could wipe out more oponents.
So basically he plays the bait which enemy cannot ignore, cuz if ignored, he himself will cause more harm.
3. He is just best at finding openings that are difficult to spot.
So together with 2 reasons above, when he makes a call, even when things look sketchy, his teammates can trust his decision and go for the best plays.
That is the key reason why T1 can often win a game even when they are behind.
So to sum it up, he often plays where he would be sacrificed but his team will be get more advantages, both in TF and lane phase, and that's why he's (currently) underestimated despite his real impact on games.
As Wolf, former SKT1 support, said, "Faker mastered how the game works. He knows what needs to be done to win, not as a player, but as a team."
yeah i was thinking the same the team t1 well zeus,gumayusi,keria,oner they all are like good so there isnt much of a carring needed unlike chovy,ruler, and etc who is kinda carrying their team style gameplay.
so faker got into a more teamplay style while other player like chovy ruler they have a carry style so faker doesnt have much impact which he still does but not like the others on this list

Keria went from being the best support, and best player in the world coming into 2022 Worlds, now he doesnt even make the top 25 and gets repeatedly dunked on in the worlds anthem. Strange times indeed.

the weirder part was how good he was on engage supports around 21-22 .. then the double adc meta came in which he was insane at as well.. then once Riot nerfed the double adc meta he just hasn't been able to bounce back to his glory days even in an engage support meta which it has been the past few patches until maybe this worlds patch which has shaken things up a bit with Senna being played a lot now in Korea. Hope he can have a strong showing at worlds. I think the worlds loss to DRX did a number on Keria tbh. He's been so close so many times but always falls short.

@@junaspalms caedrel logic is not consistent tbh for example how he described Tarzan. So I think keria is still one of the best supp, the supp he played is lulu that's caedrel reasons but overall he's a good supp even before worlds
Ruler's form throughout 2023 is simply unbelievable. He's been a consistent top 5 ADC during almost the entirety of his career so far, but what he's doing this year is something entirely else. As far as ADC-s go, it's only really Uzi's and Deft's peak days that can be in the same conversation as his current performance. One might argue that people give him too much credit considering the entire team around him plays near flawlessly too, but if anything I think it just goes to show what it looks like when a worlds class ADC in peak form get's the necessary support from his team to perform at 110% basically at all times.

Yeah as a long time ADC main, I dont think I have quite seen an ADC in the same form that Ruler is in right now. I know everyone is nostalgic about Uzi but if Ruler wins worlds this year I dont think anyone will be able to argue that Ruler isn't the best ADC to play the game at a pro level.

1) Chovy - an amazing mid laner but it’s impossible for me to ignore his choking at the big stage, always feeling when he is behind he goes farming mode and not being an X factor
2) 369 is great but im having hard time to appreciate him when he is pulling tanks with 4 of the best of their roles in the team
3) Faker - i think his impact on T1 is under appreciated even though mentioned. From the worst in korea to top 5 teams in the world probably, and his experience.

This was going into worlds. Oner was bottom 5 players in lck for over half of the split. Overall keria imo is te best player itw. Oner is top 7/8 junglers rn. Milkyway ,xun, tian , kanavi ,canyon and peanut are all better.

Peanut clears oner it's crazy. Despite the fact worlds player of the tournament is oner , as a player going into worlds he was awful while peanut was top 5 best players itw. Even now peanut hasn't been at his best but is still just soo much better on the eye test and statistics wise. Miky over keria Is crazy and I'm a g2 fan. Although keria in summer split was as good as an iron player. He is obviously better than miky
I realize individual ranking is just basically for entertaining purpose. A player can be the best but if his team perform terribly, that player can look the worst. I mean look at T1 this season before and after Faker came back, and then look at Zeus vs Bin at Asian Games. This a team game, and at this caliber of a tournament, it’s all about the team synergy.
i always agree whenever someone mentioned kanavi and ruler to be in the top spot of "tier list". both are really consistent in their play, and tbh, they can play so clean. that's why i always says that BLG is really lucky to have both of them in their roster. also agree with T1 being on mid-range rank. it always hard to predict their performance with their current roster. and as for faker, i always thought to myself that he is "ahead of his time". while others still searching for what they would become in league, faker with his skills is already on top position. but now when most pro midlaners can do what faker do, he's not the #1 anymore. when faker say something about "finding his old self" in an interview, i don't think it is the point. he never lose his skills whatsoever. but what makes him different than others back on the old days, is how confident he is and how unique his playstyle is compare to others. that's why instead of finding his old self, i think it's better for him to be a "new" faker.
and after knowing faker grind so hard on soloqueue, i know how serious he is when he said he really doubt his skills and performance. so good luck to him and other members of T1 & other teams.

As an Azir and Syndra two-trick, so happy that scout and knight respectively are looking this good this year. I didn't watch LPL playoffs cause it was so early and I wasn't playing league, but watching LCK, LEC, and NA mids piloting these (imo) objectively busted champs poorly has left me disappointed

I feel like this narrative that Missing is strictly a Rakan otp and can only play engage supports is a little unfair. In spring, Missing did play a lot of ranger supports, Ashe, Milio and others, and he looked really good on those as well. Yes he had a few mistakes in lane in early spring, but I feel like Missing can play pretty much anything when it comes to support.
When it comes to world tier lists, I am really curious about what made you put Mikyx in the top 25. Or in fact, any Western player (or wildcard region) when there is quite a noticeable gap between East and West. Must be really difficult to accurately rate the level of their skill as you never know if they are just being a big fish in a small pond or maybe the opposite, not being able to showcase their true potential because of weak teammates/league. I want to point out that this is an honest question and I am not trying to belittle any player.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting. I watched all the LCK/LEC/LPL summary vids, and it seems like it's just a recap of the exact same things you've said in those. Would've been cool to talk more about where you thought the primary focus of worlds was going to be, how the meta was going to shape up and the different lanes influencing whether a player was higher or lower on the ranks.

If we're talking about their head to head, the EU GOAT is Caps, right. In their career H2H it is 9-2 in Xiaohu's favour. And Xiaohu can't even be said to be anywhere near the midlane GOAT in the LPL. So if Xiaohu is better than Caps/has consistently outperformed Caps internationally and can play across 2 positions, I definitely know who I want to build my team around between him and Mikyx.

Regular season aside, during the Asian Games, I think Keria shined as Team Korea in the sets against China and Vietnam (Personally think was the MVP in both of those sets). I personally think Keria still deserves to be on this list, but I do understand Pedro's point of view.
