If a boss ever puts me on a 2 glasses of water a day limit i would get every medical professional i know to contact him, to tell him how much liquid a human needs to consume a day to be healthy. And i'd report him to every organization dealing with human rights violations.

We have the most obnoxious pens at work. They do not work, and the grip is completely uncomfortable. We're required to use them, and not allowed to have any other pens in client view. When I asked my manager if she required a doctor's note for my non-regulation pen, she just told me not to let her boss see. I told her I'd offer him a note, too. Pens are personal. Might as well dictate my underwear.

Yeah. The turn left thing for UPS works because their job is going point to point along a route. Not turning left can save time waiting at lights etc.
NONE of that applies to an ambulance.

My first job after graduating from high school was at an insurance company. My work hours were 8:45 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. A bell went off when work started; when our 15 minute coffee break in the morning began; when break ended; when lunch time started; when lunch time ended; the start and end of the 10 minute afternoon break, and finally when it was time to go home. It was like I was still in school! If we needed a break during non-break times, we had to raise our hand and ask the supervisor's permission to leave your desk. I didn't think anything was wrong with this, because it was my first job, and hadn't known better! I took a government job after two months of working for the insurance company. I was very surprised when I learned that I could leave my desk whenever I needed to! As long as we did our work, the bosses didn't care how many breaks we took!

I worked for a warehouse that programmed cell phones for customers. As a programmer, you had stools that you could sit on while programming. We did this for 12 to 16 hours a day. Yes, four day weeks made it where they could have you work 16 hour days. The warehouse manager read somewhere that standing would make workers more productive. He decided that we needed to be standing to program the phones quicker. Even though our job didn't have any impact on the output. Just get the workload done. Then, wait for the next load. When our productivity didn't go up, he didn't give the stools back. He just raised our quota. This was the same guy that, while interviewing me for a management position, if I was a cake eater or a meat eater. His partner just shook his head. My answer was "yeah, I read that book too. You're supposed to determine that yourself about me and not just ask." Needless to say, I didn't get, nor did I want, that management position.

Not the workplace directly but the property owners of a small business strip where I was working apparently saw complaints online about how difficult it was to find parking during peak hours for the popular restaurant on the strip and tried to enforce a policy that employees of any business on the strip had to park in a small parking garage that was only one level and held about 40 cars. The problem was that there was no signage that designated the parking garage as an "employees only" area so many spaces were taken up by customers anyway. I told my store manager I wasn't going to park there if I could avoid it and if the property owners towed my car I would be pressing charges for that reason. Apparently other people voiced the same sentiment directly to the property owners because we never heard about that policy again. By the way, part of the reason it was difficult to find parking on the strip was that a third of the spaces were "compact car only," in a relatively affluent part of town where most people drove Land Rovers and SUV's

Dumb rules I have to deal with at the clinic I work at as an RN:
    1. Specimen bags “do not belong” on the counter. I tried putting empty specimen bags on the counter near my desk because I have to scan dozens of specimens every day between seeing patients and bag them up individually. The manager wants them kept 30 feet away in a locked cabinet. She also expects pregnancy tests to be kept in a different room than the other urine testing supplies. Considering most patients who need a pregnancy test need a urine or GC culture as well, this is pathetically ridiculous.
    2. All staff must take a 30 minute unpaid lunch break if there are two people on staff with the same title. Every time I try to take said break, I get interrupted (while off the clock, mind you) or criticized for not being able to go through a 12-hour shift without eating.
    3. No rock and roll. The manager wants music playing in all the exam rooms and most of the staff play music at their desks. Approved music genres are reggaeton, country, dance pop, hip-hop/rap, R&B, and club music. Basically all the genres of music commonly associated with racial minorities and country. Genres that are not allowed: Soundtracks, opera, instrumentals, rock (including classic stuff like Elvis and the Beatles), and metal. Why not? Because that’s all “devil music.” So, just so we’re on the same page: It’s 2024 and we’re allowed to listen to music that involves swearing, sexual themes, and politically incorrect themes…but The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and the soundtrack to Final Fantasy IX are all inappropriate?

Technically, most places that tell you that you can't dye your hair an unnatural color means no colors that people don't actually have naturally. E.g. purple, green, blue, etc. Colors like red, blonde, brown, black, grey, and white are natural. I would ask for the handbook that explains the hair color. If they left it vague, you can sue for wrongful termination.

Story 32 - My arm are, for no known reason, each about 1 1/2 inches longer than they should be. Research the height-to-wingspan formula for yourself, this is about 'fingertip length' and hemline placement. During costume creation for a play the costumer asked the director where he wanted my hemline. He referred to the classic fingertip rule and asked me to let my arms hang by my side. He gazed at me, said "Gorilla Arms" (We were long-time friends, it was funny) and told her to put the hem at my knuckles. 😅

3:50 sounds as if they believed the employees were inmates. If you have free time like a break, they cannot tell you what you can or cannot do with that time. Well they can tell you, but there's nothing they can do about it.

They didn't want employees to drink more than two glasses of water a day to try to cut down on employee bathroom breaks! As for the employer who timed bathroom breaks, I would have handed in my resignation! Most places I ever worked gave 15 minute coffee breaks in the morning, and ten minute breaks in the afternoon. I used those times for bathroom breaks.

The idea that UPS doesn't turn left is partially true. You can turn faster at intersections if you're turning right. You only need to worry about 1 lane and you can turn right on Red Lights unless the intersection has a sign saying it's not allowed. If possible, the routes are set up with the fewest lefts they can do.

My old job working at grocery store. I work in the kitchen making pizza etc. Old job (at the time) requires you to only get only 30 minutes to clean the kitchen even and do everything last minute. Mind you at the time you only person in the kitchen doing the work of 6 people can't get it all done in 30 minutes and the next day management would write you up for not getting 3 hour work load in 30 minutes. I told my manager to do the work herself and prove herself that can be done in 30 minutes to better train me to help provide better customer service. (This was bluff on my part because i know it can't be done) She of course said made ever excuse under the sun to not do it but the district manager heard the hole conversion and said it was great idea to give the employee(me) more training and it heavily encouraged. Manger did it very next day and was proven wrong. Rule was changed the following day. Lol

If a boss limited the use of the toilet and demanded that you get the key from him, I would be the type of person who follows the law of the wild just to see the world burn, meaning I and everyone who follows me will do our business wherever we want, just not in the toilet and of course in front of the boss's door. That's how you declare dominance and ownership of the entire office. Even if he were to throw out everyone who joined in, he could still just burn the office down afterwards.

A few years ago, I had this supervisor who was a real buzzkill - in fact, that was her nickname.
She had a lot of really dumb and inefficient rules she wanted us to follow.
One of them dealt with document storage.
For example, one person could file something, and then someone else could do... whatever, but that didn't go on the record.
Well, this happened to me once, someone took what I had filed and it was missing.
Buzzkill thought it was a good idea to have me search every file folder from the day before and after. About an hour later, I told her it wasn't there. She reluctantly allowed me to fax the client for a new copy, which took all of three minutes.
After all that had happened, she sent me a nasty, condescending e-mail asking why what had happened had happened.
We were all so glad when she retired a few months later.
