Vitus owner of a 2019 Escarpe VRX, I am so happy with the performance, specs, and quality of the ride that I have a hard time thinking selling for a new one (I used to change bike every year from Scott to Pivot and Yeti). I ride everything I want comfortably, safely, and with a smile on my face. I also want to highlight the owners community on Facebook which is great, real people with real lives. Please Vitus don't change your vision!!!!!!! Love from the US

I met Enrique a few months ago in Tollymore. We did Heathen and Champs I think. I Had no idea he worked for Vitus. What a nice guy. The whole team are clearly enthusiasts which is a fantastic accolade. Vitus are a class brand. Almost a David against the Goliaths in its industry. Well done and super proud these guys are flying the flag for Northern Ireland.

They’re not slapping an extra £4000 on the bike above cost price just because, like most greedy bike brands! Bikes costing as much as a house deposit these days is absolutely heinous! Well done Vitus!

That's the key issue of the mtb industry today. It's no longer about the consumer, the big manufacturers are nothing more then marketing machines. No longer building bikes designed for the everyday reguler Joe and Jill rider but to much focused on design and tech to save the most weight and shave the most time off runs. All behind the need to be the best in the industry in terms of wins and overall image.
I rather support a company like Vitus that is clearly about making bikes that
    1)designed for the consumer
    2) every skill rider can enjoy
    3) very attainable bikes cost wise.
Nice to see small companies such as these to focus on us the consumer that love the sport and activity.
The big firms should watch and learn. Go back to there roots, the roots of the sport and focus on the every day rider and trail blazers. Yes compition is a component of the industry, but not the core purpose of it as seen today.
    STOP THE MARKETING MACHINE!!
Make bikes for the everyday rider not force some mold on us.
I think the only large manufacturer left that still holds consumers as there core is GAINT. They make and design fantastic bikes for the price.

Just gotta say; I got my vitus Mythique yesterday after only waiting for 3weeks, there were no issues, no scratches, no missing parts. I assembled the bike with ease and hit the trails. The good: efficient pedaller, playful and fun feeling, capable descender, a great all-rounder, unbeatable price (feels like a 3000eurobike) the bad: dropper post is too short at only 100mm. Rear brake is considerably weaker than he front (no biggie), it's heavy (I don't mind) and that's it. All in all I am extremely happy with the experience so far. I would give this bike a 10/10 simply because of the price. IF it were an actual 3000 euro bike, then it would be a 9/10 so congrats and kudos to Vitus. It feels like cheating having such a good quality product for only 2000 euros. Thank you so much. I bought this bike while I wait for my commencal meta sx that I bought in October. And yours got here so fast. Much appreciated. Commencal can learn a few things from you.

Solid BTS video of the brand, no fuss, no frills mountain bikes for the people. However there are still some questions to be raised over direct-to-consumer brands and their ultimate effect on the local bike shop. Personally I like the model where you buy from a brand and then use local shops to service and sell spares etc... however this is taking a significant stream of revenue away from shops (and margin, hence the difference in price)..and then there is the 'try before you buy' logic. Granted, some brands, like YT, have set up shops and run events to get people on the right size... but there is a risk that people will buy without the correct advice they would get from a good LBS. Something to think about...

    @gpearce11 Před 2 lety +4

Vitus are a truly great value brand, especially at the high end. Their lower end (Marzocchi/Deore etc) stuff are decent value compared to their competition, but not by much. Their higher end stuff (especially their CRX level Fox Factory/XT stuff) is so much cheaper than their competitors it's frankly incredible.
For probably the closest example, Nukeproof bikes are far from bad value (in fact they're one of the better value LBS brands), but if you compare the Nukeproof Mega and Vitus Sommet the only major spec differences between the Mega Factory and Sommet CRX is the dropper post (NP has a more premium Bikeyoke Divine) and tyres (Michelin vs Maxxis). Just about everything else, from the Fox Factory suspension and Shimano XT drivetrain/brakes, to the DT EX1700 wheels and NP Horizon handlebar and stem, are identical.
Geometry is likewise almost identical, from the headtube angle to the chainstay length, except for a slightly slacker seat tube (depending on size; the XL is almost identical, but smaller sizes are 0.5-1.5° slacker), and the absence of an XXL size. It's worth noting that the Sommet has a flip chip (unlike the Mega), so if you find the seat tube too slack you can increase it by 0.5°, so long as you don't mind a 64.5° headtube.
Despite their extreme similarity, in the UK the Sommet CRX is actually cheaper than Nukeproof's lower spec Mega Elite (Fox Performance Elite suspension, SLX groupset, DT E1900 wheelset, Brand X dropper), and over £1.5K cheaper than the Mega Factory (in some overseas markets, like Australia, it's noticably closer, but still very much in Vitus's favour).
Is the Nukeproof Mega a superior product? Arguably yes; ignoring any spec differences, it comes with a full carbon frame (compared to the Sommet's alloy rear triangle) and has tube-in-tube cable routing, which is always nice to see (also, speaking as a tall person, I'm tempted to spend extra for that XXL frame alone). However both of these features were only added to the latest (V4) generation of the Mega, and before Brexit ruined everything the price of the V4 was the same as the V3 Mega, so clearly these features didn't cost much more for Nukeproof to implement.

Still riding my 2018 sommet. I will upgrade to a new Vitus when funds permit but honestly it’s so solid I can’t fault it. Great team, great bikes!

I'm from Germany and i bought a Vitus Sentier VR hardtail as my first mountainbike and i couldn't be happier, it really was the best decision to go with Vitus. It's got good componentry, I don't have the feeling that corners where cut to make the bike cheaper, it's just perfect. And it looks stunning. I love it.

I've got an escarpe VRS 2019. Been telling my mates, and anyone else who would listen how great it is. The best money I've spent in 28 years of being into M. T. B. Great video Doddy, shows all the " big" bike manufacturers you don't need to mark up bikes hugely. Tough though as we all love watching teams and riders, competing so the money needs to come from somewhere I suppose. Keep safe all

  • @francomcsherrypostalteammt2196

Great video and story of a awesome bike brand. I have a vitus sommet vrs 160mm and it gets hammered on bike park, enduro and down hill trails it's at home no matter what trail I shred it on. Great bike and I would defo but another . Well done vitus 🙌 🤘

I have a 2021 Sommet, so far I'm really stoked with the bike. The only thing I would add is make a better use of the internal space of the down tube. That thing is huge and could be used as an internal storage space as seen on some specialized or trek bikes.

I have had a Vitus Escarpe 275 and I think it was very good bike for the money I have paid. Also it was very reliable bike as I didn't have any problems with it for 5 years of riding. I ride other brand now and I can compare the bikes. It's a very big chance that my next bike will be Vitus again.

I love my Nucleus it's the first new bike I've able to buy. I feel it's looked down on, even with someone saying "oh dear" at Swinley after looking at my bike, but they weren't any quicker than me in a red section and weren't having any more fun. 😉

Great video and fantastic insight into the brand and the guys behind it. Please don’t fall into the trap of using the “real riders” cliche though… I see plenty of guys and girls regularly riding through all weathers on way more expensive brands too; having a slightly lower bike budget doesn’t make you any more of a real rider than anyone else.

When they ask how they can do all this for such a low price I wish they would just say… We’re not greedy, we charge enough to make a fair profit. A lot of these other companies probably cost the same or less to manufacture but they have much higher profits because they want to make way more money. Its that simple.
