We are blessed with food choices in Sydney. Its even starting to spread out to my area ... the central coast.
Yeah we really are
Your mum is adorable! Loved seeing her reactions to all the cookies especially :) Glad to see more of your family in your videos
haha i'll let her know!
Everyone with Siblings can totally relate to the ending in the restaurant. Your Mum is Lovely.
Lovely video, I really enjoyed your mum's commentary/review of the tea, cookies and cake
Thank you for watching !
Love your mum. Have more of her in your videos. Love Surry Hills. Will have to look that cafe up next time I'm in Sydney.
I will try! I think she enjoys being in them too lol
Your Mum is sooooo cute! I love seeing her in videos. Get Dad on board!!!
I can watch this all day yummmmm
Always good to see people enjoying Singapore food
I am salivating! yummm!
gonna need to get me some Home's favourite cookies they look great
Pistachios our favourite!
Yummmmmm! I want to try the teochew duck! It looked sooooo good, but can’t do the whole thing by myself and none of my friends like that kind of food! Maybe I’ll go attempt and take the rest away!
Was going to try Fish Head Curry when I would have gone to Singapore but my plan got 2020’ed. So glad to know I can try it in Sydney
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Love mom is sharing the taste of the Singapore sweet treat with you. me go crazy 😜 and love the curry fish head .. thank you for new episode.. wish you safe and healthy 🙏.
thank you for watching!
You are so happy when eating. Great smile as always.
love ur vlogs janice , u should upload regularly
Hi, I'm from Singapore, living in Sydney. Luv watching ur videos. Brought back quite abit of memories esp with d pineapple tarts, chiffon cake n d layer coconut cake. As for the layer cake, we never ate it with a fork. Instead we always peeled it layer by layer, excited to eat each layer of colour at a time!
Haha I am reading the comments and have realised we are the layer cake wrong! Will definitely been peeling it next time
Wow I am singaporean but didn’t know about Singapore breakfast tea and home favorite. Thanks I will need to check them out
Mama Fung is back. Love her and the vid. Side note, the best way to enjoy the 9 layer rainbow cake is to peel it off layer by layer. Cutting through it is OK too though not the right way to eat it : ).
thanks Steven - yeah i only just realised ive been eating it wrong all this time! i'll peel it layer by layer next time
i'm heeyah!
i like the australian accent and how they pronounce certain words
I did not know anyone was importing Home's Favourite products to Oz, thank you soooo much for listing them :) (also adopted your mum's "so yum", its perfect)
Glad that you love Singapore/Malaysian cuisines! The food served at the restaurant in Auburn looks authentic! 👍
yeah i love it! the whole fam loved that place too
loved seeing your mom !
hi hi Mrs. Fung, good to see you again. :)) Yummy Singapore / Malaysia dessert.
Haha my mum read your comment and says hi!
I've walked past cafe Rumah so many times, looks like I need to stop in & spend a while
You are lucky to be there in. Singapore the best foods in the world enjoy your beautiful healthy foods thank you for sharing your beautiful healthy foods very good friendly place thank you for sharing Bless you all have a good holiday
Very nice. I have been to Singapore many times and I have never eaten fish head curry. I will try to eat it next time.
We just saw a glimpse of Mamak Village right at the beginning of the video. They do an awesome laksa! My favourite
Here in the UK the temperature is 0dg yes 0dg also snow in parts of the country. The biscuits and cakes look amazing as does all the food . Nice vlog as always stay safe
Thanks so much Michael
Hi Janice - thanks for introducing me to this one - I m malaysian- hence used to spicy food - I will try one day - regina
Amazing how many cookies and cakes you and your mom were able to eat in one seating! 😄
From Singapore here. Those local dishes look very authentic and mouth-watering! I'm gonna go bake myself a pandan chiffon with pure extract after I finish your video hehe
Those pineapple cakes are to die for. Ate some in Taiwan and this alone is a good reason for me to go back!
Yes my favourite layer cake! I love pandan flavour :)
Yeah I love pandan and coconut combo
Duck stew looks awesome 👌.
It was really good Richard !
Being Malaysian I'm so happy that you're promoting Malaysian food. Fun fact Rumah means house in Malay and that layered cake is called kuih lapis. Lapis directly translated to layers. We call such desserts kuih which generally is little traditional desserts/cakes
I’ve since learnt in the comments that I should be eating this layer by layer haha
@@JaniceFung it's pretty fun to eat them layer by layer. There's also a very similar dessert in Thai cuisine it's called kha nom wan. Taste almost identical haha please do a meet and greetvone day. We can all meet up for a meal.
I didn't know there is the 9 layer rainbow cake dessert in Sydney! You can actually peel it layer by layer to eat it which makes it really fun.
Next time I’ll be doing that!
Thank you ❤️ big hug from Norway ( - 3 degrees, winter) Hopefully soon we will be able to visit Sydney again 😊
thanks Marinela : )
Fish head curry and oyster pancake are the best :)
Just finish viewing your Vid. 👍👍👍👍 Very authentic Singapore food you have there. Almost Can the Taste the food.. hehehe.😁😁😁
That duck looks amazing. I thought the mushroom looked particularly tasty but it turned out to be egg, which I expect was very tasty anyway.
That Nonya place looks very legit... I’m impressed.
Your mom’s a natural food vlogger haha!
Hi Janice, fantastic, thank you for sharing all the tips, I was wondering can I order the cookies online from Singapore ? As in their website there is no international delivery, will be a great surprise for my partner.
The vegetable you ate is called morning glory in English, ong choy in Cantonese, and kang kong in Singaporean.
I love your Mum, Janice! :)
Oh man pandan chiffon is my bloody childhood!
I live in Singapore and I didn't know Home Favourite's have come up with so many different kinds of cookies recently lol
Hello Auntie Hello Janice! Warmest greeting from SG 🇸🇬. I think auntie want ur cushion, Janice... (Grin)
Thanks for sharing the peranakan resto in Syd. Def we will visit once we are able to travel
again.
We love pandan chiffon cake too and the curry fish head. The soul of peranakan food.
i love how the chilffon cake was sooo soft and fluffy. it's like a biting nito a pandan flavoured cloud haha
my favourites😋
:: Pandan Chiffon Cake & Rainbow Layer Cake (Kueh Lapis) 😍😍😍😍😍 ::
I’m Malaysian 🇲🇾 Strait born Chinese (Baba Nyonya). One day you come to Penang to taste the food paradise. Malacca too
Yes I can’t wait!!!
inspiring vlog i left a like for your mom , now i miss my mom 🙏
For the 9 layer cake, you can also peel layer by layer off. Each layer has a different colour and a different taste to it. That is how we eat when we were kids in Singapore.
Looks like assam curry fish head. Not nonya curry it seems. Other than that, everything looks pretty authentic.
Just curious, how is it that no one is wearing a mask?
Mum needs her own channel Janice
orhoo... u still miss Singapore food... Come again next year n vist our hawker, this time you are not just vist the hawker u are visting "unesco" hawker. dont worry price still same, same... Woo... about the 9 layer cake usually i peel layer by layer and enjoy. u will taste the diff fav of the cake... cheers
If you haven't come to Malaysia, you might want to consider to make Malaysia your next oversea destination. I can suggest many places for you to try from breakfast to late night supper 😋😋😋😋
Janice, you are supposed to eat the 9 layer cake layer by layer and savour it!
I know nowww 😅
🇲🇾 Malaysia hands down is a real treasure for food. Very sedap 😋
I can’t wait to go to Malaysia when we can travel again
Water spinach is called kangkung in Malay. We call that dish kangkung belachan
How do you usually cook it ?
The home’s favourite biscuits look good!! Where are they selling?
i got mine from mamak village in broadway but they are at a lot of the asian supermarkets. i've include a list in the bottom of my description. hope that helps Gerry! :)
@@JaniceFung i managed to get them from mamak village but yet to see them in any other places in sydney. bought some for my friends in melbourne and now they are trying to find them in melbourne😅 if you do know where in melbourne they can find the cookies please let us know
So many different types of food...
yeahhh
Happy to hear you pronounce lychee as "ly-chee" (as we do here in Hawaii) and not "lee-chee" like many mainland Americans :P
leechee? ive never heard any american pronounce it like that therefore u should perhaps re-edit your sentence to be accurate
The place in Auburn does it serve halal food?
Water Spinach is also known as kangkong here! :)
it was spicy but cant help but keep going back
Janice can you recommend any bars to try in the CBD area?
I’ll be doing a video on this!
@@JaniceFung yay! I’ll be looking out for it 😁
I like your teapot
i really want to go to singapore and malaysia - was suppose to be there in july but...sigh...=(
hopefully we can travel soon next year...!
Oh I had something interesting happened to me last week, I went to a Korean bbq here in Texas, now I am more than sure the people there were Korean since I can recognize Korean language quite easily, and they had a strong accent in English kinda like mine. Well everything was awesome but one thing...the chicken. The chicken was terrible. Idk if it was the sauce but I don’t think so. Can someone who’s Korean tell me if the chicken taste like that, maybe because of some sauce. I tried two types of chicken the “spicy” and the normal, both tasted not quite good:(
Mamak- it’s my go to here in melb
I like their roti
the lime juice is so good 😊
(Eddit) dont ask me how i know
The whole time you were eating the nine layer kueh, i was like “peel it peel it... aw... no.”
Someone needs to show ya how to do that, it’s part of the joy of eating a nine layer.
I agree! Peeling layers is part of the fun
Its actually called Morning Glory and not Water Spinach in England.
How much were the tarts and cookies from Mammak Village?
For the ones I bought at mammak village, the little tin ones were $10 and the one in the box (dried prawn flavour) that was $8.5
Did she refer Changi Airport to Chu Chang Airport?
Is that what it sounded like? I said jewel Changi airport
good video
Thanks Joseph!
Nice 1
Cheers
where is Albees in Campsie?
In part 3!
Can you try Indian cuisine please!
"i dont think you like it" means more for you.. 🤣🤣🤣
Bring your mum to review food with you next time!
Ho yea👍👍👍
Yeahhhh!
@@JaniceFung Do you know Kungfu? I like your ascent by the way.. I grew up in San Francisco my whole life and I still can’t speak Cantonese
Hello Janice
hi!
@@JaniceFung I emailed you. Did you get it?
if it's in nsw Janice will find it ! ^_^
hahaha i will definitely try
The pandan cake and rainbow cake very similar to Vietnamese. I'm guessing if you want to try them go to Vietnamese supermarkets.
Another name for water spinach is morning glory.
thanks Ettianne :)
18:30 speaking for your sister again 😂
Hahaha bc I liked it so much and didn’t wana share lol
Review indonesian food janice
it's on my list i promise!
Janice, sadly at this restaurant you did not order the authentic nonya dishes. You should have ordered items like Ngo Hiang, Pie tie, Babi Pongteh, Adam Buah Keluak, udang masak nanas and desert puloh Hitam. As their name suggest, all in Malay. Those are the true Nonya dishes. A lot of what is in the menu is more Singaporean and Malaysian. Maybe you should go back and try again.
Your mum is a national treasure. Why don't you get her more into more of a commentator role?
💜👍💜💜💜💜💜👍👍👍👍
the mixture of 繁体字 and 简体字 in the title 😂😂😂
lol oh yeah :P
my chinese is a combo of what i remember from Saturday school and google trasnlate lol
Wow 36 freaking degrees! I am at 9 degrees
ow where abouts are you?
@@JaniceFung in Shanghai now , it’s back to 13-15 degrees this morning
I’m quite late:(
Haha nah, still early!
hi "Nyonya" should be be pronounced as "neo nya" instead of "noh nya". Hope it helps
I love the fish cury n rendang beef also Hainam Chken rice , can i have phone nbr to booking please
02 9737 8890
This is their number
Loving the videos you're doing lately Janice 😁 if you try Turkish one day, add New Star to your list (the one in my latest video!). I think you'd love it!
Thanks Kev, I’ll check it out !
O you are a Cantonese. Boyfriend or curry? Pick one only.🤣
I'm a bit disappointed. I thought the whole reason to eat fish head curry was to have a whole head in the bowl staring back at you. The eyeball is the best part.
FIRST....aaaand no one cares.
Haha I care ! Hiiiii!
@@JaniceFung OMG HELLO THANK YOU FOR REPLYING
It’s too much talked, just show the food😩
