They certainly should comment matches together, and argue among themselves at will! Imagine Lendl and Becker, both having coached the greatest (Murray and Djok respectively) disagreeing on some finer point of a Djok-Rafa match? Pure Gold. But making this kind of reunion a regular occurrence? I don't think so, the spontaneity would quickly dissipate.

They can recall every point and detail, every loss or victory at will, and any opinion they formulate about the game today (see part 1) is insightful and potent. You can feel how fast and sharp their minds are, no wonder they lived on a higher plane. Ivan's authority, Mac's exuberance, Boris' straightforwardness, and Mats' subtelty, are gems to behold, so akin to the style they displayed on court back in the days. Borg was probably the first player to be truly recognised in every corner of the world, even by people who were not into tennis, just like a movie or a pop star. Then this bunch came along ( like heirs ) to finish off the conquest of the world; they became household names, including in those without any tennis rackets.

I saw Henri Leconte play Mats Wilander in 1981 on synthetic grass at the Channel 7 studio courts in Epping, Sydney, Australia. I think it was some junior tournament I saw John McEnroe play at the Australian Indoors circa 1980 (I've read the paperback biography of McEnroe and he seemed to like to go out and drink alcohol). I saw Lendl play live at the Australian Open when he won it the first time, and I saw the great Boris Becker when he won the Australian Open. Interestingly, I was watching a replay of Becker v McEnroe yesterday on CZcams in 1986 at a tournament in Vermont. Brilliant game. Rod Laver played Jimmy Connors in 1975 and it was close.
